Dear Editor,As one of the most widespread and destructive families of plant viruses,Geminiviridae,named for the twinned icosahedral particles of virus members in the family,poses a serious threat to agricultural production worldwide.Transmitted by various homopterans insects such as whiteflies,leafhoppers,aphids,and treehoppers,geminiviruses infect,in addition to wild plants,vegetable,root,and fiber crops,thus causing important losses around the globe(Hanley-Bowdoin et al.,2013;Li et al.,2022).

Dear Editor,Asian rice(Oryza sativa)is the staple food for half the world and is a model crop that has been extensively studied.It contributes20%of calories to the human diet(Stein et al.,2018).With the increase in global population and rapid changes in climate,rice breeders need to develop new and sustainable cultivars with higher yields,healthier grains,and reduced environmental footprints(Wing et al.,2018).Since the first gold-standard reference genome of rice variety Nipponbare was published(International Rice Genome Sequencing Project,2005),an increasing number of rice accessions have been sequenced,assembled,and annotated with global efforts.Nowadays,a single reference genome is obviously insufficient to perform the genetic difference analysis for rice accessions.Therefore,the pan-genome has been proposed as a solution,which allows the discovery of more presence-absence variants compared with single-reference genome-based studies(Zhao et al.,2018).Over the past years,several databases,such as RAP-db(https://rapdb.***.affrc.***.jp),RGAP(http://rice.***.edu),and Gramene(https://***),have long-term served rice genomic research by providing information based on one or a series of individual reference genomes.To integrate and utilize the genomic information of multiple accessions,we performed comparative analyses and established the user-friendly Rice Gene Index(RGI;https://***)platform.RGI is the first gene-based pan-genome database for rice.

Hypertension,also known as high blood pressure,is a serious medical condition that may cause severe health problems,such as heart attack and stroke.According to the World Health Organization(WHO),^([1])an estimated 1.28 billion adults worldwide aged 30–79 years had hypertension in 2021,two-third of whom were living in low-and middle-income countries.Many national and international clinical practice guidelines(CPGs)on the diagnosis,evaluation,and treatment of hypertension have been published to promote its control.Among these,comprehensive hypertension guidelines provide broader direction to more target users,especially primary healthcare practitioners,than“narrow”types of guidelines.

There are a lot of quantitative performance characterisation methods for composite insulators.However,how to apply the characterisation methods with different dimensions to comprehensively assess the health state of composite insulators remains a big problem for operators and researchers.A comprehensive health assessment model for composite insulators based on the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to an Ideal Solution(TOPSIS)method is proposed in this study.Fourteen composite insulators from four regions in Yunnan Province,China,and five quantitative characterisation indicators of the insulators,namely hardness,hydrophobicity,loss of hydrophobicity,recovery of hydrophobicity,and trap charge,are selected to verify the model.The results show that the Pearson correlation coefficient of the TOPSIS-based comprehensive health score with operating time is 0.72,which is better than the other single indicator.By introducing the operating time into the TOPSIS-based model,we can also obtain the ageing resistance performance of the composite insulator.This work provides a new idea to assess the health state and ageing performance of composite insulators.

Background In a three-month report from the CGA-TAVI registry, we found the Multidimensional Prognostic Index (MPI) and Short Physical Performance Battery (SPPB) to be of value for predicting short-term outcomes in elderly patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). In the present analysis, we examined the association of these tools with outcomes up to one year post-TAVI. Methods CGA-TAVI is an international, observational registry of geriatric patients undergoing TAVI. Patients were assessed using the MPI and SPPB. Efficacy of baseline values and any postoperative change for predicting outcome were established using logistic regression. Kaplan- Meier analysis was carried out for each comprehensive geriatric assessment tool, with survival stratified by risk category. Results One year after TAVI, 14.1% of patients deceased, while 17.4% met the combined endpoint of death and/or non-fatal stroke, and 37.7% the combined endpoint of death and/or hospitalisation and/or non-fatal stroke. A high-risk MPI score was associated with an increased risk of all-cause mortality (aOR = 36.13, 95% CI: 2.77–470.78, P = 0.006) and death and/or non-fatal stroke (aOR = 10.10, 95% CI: 1.48–68.75, P = 0.018). No significant associations were found between a high-risk SPPB score and mortality or two main combined endpoints. In contrast to a worsening SPPB, an aggravating MPI score at three months post-TAVI was associated with an increased risk of death and/or non-fatal stoke at one year (aOR = 95.16, 95% CI: 3.41–2657.01). Conclusions The MPI showed value for predicting the likelihood of death and a combination of death and/or non-fatal stroke by one year after TAVI in elderly patients.

Kiwifruit(Actinidia spp.)plants produce economically important fruits containing abundant,balanced phytonutrients with extraordinarily high vitamin C contents.Since the release of the first kiwifruit reference genome sequence in 2013,large volumes of genome and transcriptome data have been rapidly accumulated for a handful of kiwifruit species.To efficiently store,analyze,integrate,and disseminate these large-scale datasets to the research community,we constructed the Kiwifruit Genome Database(KGD;http://***/).The database currently contains all publicly available genome and gene sequences,gene annotations,biochemical pathways,transcriptome profiles derived from public RNA-Seq datasets,and comparative genomic analysis results such as syntenic blocks and homologous gene pairs between different kiwifruit genome assemblies.A set of user-friendly query interfaces,analysis tools and visualization modules have been implemented in KGD to facilitate translational and applied research in kiwifruit,which include JBrowse,a popular genome browser,and the NCBI BLAST sequence search tool.Other notable tools developed within KGD include a genome synteny viewer and tools for differential gene expression analysis as well as gene ontology(GO)term and pathway enrichment analysis.

Fulminant myocarditis(FM) has unacceptable high mortality. This study aimed to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of a life support-based comprehensive treatment regimen(LSBCTR), a completely novel treatment regimen, for FM. A total of 169 FM patients recruited from January 2008 to December 2018 were divided into two groups: patients receiving LSBCTR(81 cases),which includes(i) mechanical life support(positive pressure respiration, intra-aortic balloon pump with or without extracorporeal membrane oxygenation),(ii) immunomodulation therapy using sufficient doses of glucocorticoids and immunoglobulins, and(iii) application of neuraminidase inhibitors, and those receiving conventional treatment(88 cases). The endpoints were in-hospital death and heart-transplantation. Of all the population, 44 patients(26.0%) died in hospitals. Inhospital mortality was 3.7%(3/81) for LSBCTR group and 46.6%(41/88) for traditional treatment(P<0.001). Early application of LSBCTR, mechanical life support, neuraminidase inhibitors, and immunomodulation therapy significantly contributed to reduction in in-hospital mortality. This study describes a novel treatment regimen for FM patients that dramatically reduces inhospital mortality. Its generalization and clinical application will efficiently save lives although further optimization is needed.This study offers an insight that virus infection induced inflammatory waterfall results in cardiac injury and cardiogenic shock and is the therapeutic target.

Background:Acute myeloid leukemia(AML)is a common type of hematological malignancy in elderly people.Geriatricians developed comprehensive geriatric assessment(CGA)methods for elderly patients;however,the tools used for CGA in AML are not uniform.Thus,we aimed to validate the instrumental activities of daily living(IADL)scales,age,comorbidities(Charlson Comorbidity Index),and albumin(IACA)index,which is a new tool for CGA,in elderly patients with AML.Methods:Patients aged>60 years who had been diagnosed with AML were screened for eligibility.Among the IACA low-,intermediate-,and high-risk groups,continuous variables were compared using the Mann-Whitney U test,and categorical variables were compared using/2 and Fisher exact tests.In addition,probabilities of overall survival(OS)were estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method.Results:A total of 21,34,and 6 patients were categorized into IACA low-risk(0 point),intermediate-risk(1-2 points),and high-risk(>3 points)groups,respectively.The rates of relapse/progression-related mortality were 23.8%,58.8%,and 100.0%in the IACA low-,intermediate-,and high-risk groups,respectively(χ^2=12.81,Pcomprehensive geriatric assessment in elderly AML patients.
