Interdependency Between Sustainable Development and Economic Growth （Investment Attraction）： The Role of city＇s governance, Branding and Monitoring Strategies

Sustainable development is now considered the only option for collective happiness. This paper aims to highlight the interdependent role of city governance, its quality of life and corporate sustainable development process. A place that is good to live in, means that it is good to inhabit, work at, study invest, and visit. Therefore, public policies makers should think about the role of city administration in order to provide a good environment for entrepreneurship and corporate sustainable development. Territories, regions, cities and firms, must know their capabilities and competencies and define a common vision of the future, taking into account the present and the context in which they operate. Being defined as the strategy based on the principles of collective efficiency and market orientation, the successful implementation of activities requires ＂an operational framework for monitoring, supported by mechanisms of interdepartmental cooperation, and performance measurement procedures based on indicators and monitoring progress＂（ENDS-2015, 2007）. This paper discusses the implementation of place marketing strategies and adoption, by the city governance, of the best practices of business management such as： balanced score card methodologies, leading to the enhancing of the wellness produced by cities; promoting productivity, innovation and rational use of resources; and developing competences and expertise in order to strength their competitive advantages and achieve the desired sustainable development.

The purpose of this thesis is to examine the social aspect of sustainable city *** city development has become a global phenomenon and an important concept in the field of public ***,recent studies have argued that the development of global sustainable cities is overwhelmingly focused on economic and environmental sustainability,while less efforts are made on social *** that backdrop,this thesis takes social sustainability as its research *** examines the contextualized social sustainability in two different neighbourhoods,with case studies in Oslo and *** are both major practitioners of sustainability at different stages of sustainable city ***,municipal plans are analysed to identify city level targets for sustainable city development at the social ***,sustainable neighbourhoods are scrutinized to examine social sustainability at neighbourhood and resident *** surveys,semi-structured interviews and community conversations are respectively conducted in Yihao Jiayuan neighbourhood in Shanghai and Kv?rnerbyen neighbourhood in *** of these neighbourhoods were planned within sustainable development *** data findings are analysed based on three social sustainability themes:1)Human Needs in Focus,2)Voice and Influence and 3)Including and Robust Local Communities,as well as through the lived experiences of the *** has been found that social sustainability has been integrated in the development in both *** assessment also discloses the contextualized social sustainability differences in both *** integration of social sustainability on city level is reflected in the neighbourhood level features,and in the lived experience of the residents in both neighbourhoods – which is mostly *** Oslo,all indicators for each theme have been identified on resident *** Shanghai,several indicators for each theme have

智慧城市是继数字城市和智能城市后的城市信息化高级形态，是信息化、工业化和城镇化的深度融合。发展智慧城市对城市的经济转型、居民生活方式变革、环境保护和社会管理具有重要的战略意义。目前我国智慧城市建设存在“千城一面，缺乏特色”，“重项目、轻规划”，“重建设、轻应用”，“重模仿、轻研发”，资源整合难度大等问题。文章建议，智慧城市建设应高度重视差异定位，注重区域特色激发智慧城市发展活力；秉承“应用为王”的原则，以市场需求引导项目建设；坚持技术支撑，以技术创新和战略性新兴产业发展为依托；推进智慧整合，破解“信息孤岛”问题。

作为大国治理典型代表的中国，在快速城镇化进程中也遇到了超大城市及其伴生的大型社区、开发区以及超级社区等超大型空间治理的挑战。行政区划作为中国特有的空间治理工具，其在超大城市治理中的重要作用毋庸置疑。梳理我国超大城市政区政策发现，其演进逻辑呈现狭域制到广域制、小区制到大区制等特点，而超大城市政区治理则在行政区域、行政建制和行政层级等方面面临制度困境，针对这些困境，提出了超大城市政区治理现代化的路径。
