This paper addresses a nonlinear feedback control problem for the chaotic arch micro- electro-mechanical system with unknown parameters,immeasurable states and partial state-constraint subjected to the distributed electrostatic actuation.To reflect inherent properties and design controller, the phase diagrams,bifurcation diagram and Poincare section are presented to investigate the nonlinear dynamics.The authors employ a symmetric barrier Lyapunov function to prevent violation of constraint when the arch micro-electro-mechanical system faces some limits.An RBF neural network system integrating with an update law is adopted to estimate unknown function with arbitrarily small error. To eliminate chaotic oscillation,a neuro-adaptive backstepping control scheme fused with an extended state tracking differentiator and an observer is constructed to lower requirements on measured states and precise system model.Besides,introducing an extended state tracking differentiator avoids repeated derivative for the virtual control signal associated with conventional backstepping.Finally,simulation results are presented to illustrate feasibility of the proposed scheme.

The dynamical behaviour of the generalized Korteweg-de Vries （KdV） equation under a periodic perturbation is investigated numerically. The bifurcation and chaos in the system are observed by applying bifurcation diagrams, phase portraits and Poincar＇e maps. To characterise the chaotic behaviour of this system, the spectra of the Lyapunov exponent and Lyapunov dimension of the attractor are also employed.

In this paper,a discrete predator-prey model with prey refuge is investigated.It is proved that the model undergoes codimension-2 bifurcations associated with 1:2 and 1:3 resonances.The bifurcation diagrams and phase portraits show that the model has some interesting complex dynamical behaviors,such as limit cycle,periodic solutions,chaos and codimension-1 bifurcations.

The chaotic behaviours of a fractional-order generalized Lorenz system and its synchronization are studied in this paper. A new electronic circuit unit to realize fractional-order operator is proposed. According to the circuit unit, an electronic circuit is designed to realize a 3.8-order generalized Lorenz chaotic system. Furthermore, synchronization between two fractional-order systems is achieved by utilizing a single-variable feedback method. Circuit experiment simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

In this paper, the control of chemical chaotic dynamical system is investigated by time-delayed feedback control technique.The controllability and the stability of the equilibriums and local Hopf bifurcation of the system are verified. Some numerical simulations which show the effectiveness of the time-delayed feedback control method are provided.

A chaos-based cryptosystem for fractal image coding is proposed. The Renyi chaotic map is employed to determine the order of processing the range blocks and to generate the keystream for masking the encoded sequence. Compared with the standard approach of fraetal image coding followed by the Advanced Encryption Standard, our scheme offers a higher sensitivity to both plaintext and ciphertext at a comparable operating efficiency. The keystream generated by the Renyi chaotic map passes the randomness tests set by the United States National Institute of Standards and Technology, and so the proposed scheme is sensitive to the key.

We study a pair of nonlinearly coupled identical chaotic sine square maps.More specifically,we investigate the chaos suppression associated with the variation of two parameters.Two-dimensional parameter-space regions where the chaotic dynamics of the individual chaotic sine square map is driven towards regular dynamics are delimited.Additionally,the dynamics of the coupled system is numerically characterized as the parameters are changed.

It is demonstrated that Smale-horseshoe chaos exists in the time evolution of the one-dimensional Bose-Einstein condensate driven by time-periodic harmonic or inverted-harmonic potential. A formally exact solution of the timedependent Gross-Pitaevskii equation is constructed, which describes the matter shock waves with chaotic or periodic amplitudes and phases.

We investigate how dynamical behaviours of complex motor networks depend on the Newman-Watts small-world （NWSW） connections. Network elements are described by the permanent magnet synchronous motor （PMSM） with the values of parameters at which each individual PMSM is stable. It is found that with the increase of connection probability p, the motor in networks becomes periodic and falls into chaotic motion as p further increases. These phenomena imply that NWSW connections can induce and enhance chaos in motor networks. The possible mechanism behind the action of NWSW connections is addressed based on stability theory.
