Dynamic Channel Allocation in Sectored cellular systems

It is known that dynamic channel assignment(D CA ) strategy outperforms the fixed channel assignment(FCA) strategy in omni-direc tional antenna cellular systems. One of the most important methods used in DCA w as channel borrowing. But with the emergence of cell sectorization and spatial d ivision multiple access(SDMA) which are used to increase the capacity of cel lular systems, the channel assignment faces a series of new problems. In this pa per, a dynamic channel allocation scheme based on sectored cellular systems is p roposed. By introducing intra-cell channel borrowing (borrowing channels from n eighboring sectors) and inter-cell channel borrowing (borrowing channels from n eighboring cells) methods, previous DCA strategies, including compact pattern ba sed channel borrowing(CPCB) and greedy based dynamic channel assignment(GDCA) schemes proposed by the author, are improved significantly. The computer simu lation shows that either intra-cell borrowing scheme or inter-cell borrowing s cheme is efficient enough to uniform and non-uniform traffic service distributi ons.

An analytical framework for the incorporation of non-orthogonal pilots in massive MIMO systems

Training-based cellular communication systems use orthogonal pilot sequences to limit pilot ***,the orthogonality constraint imposes a certain pilot length,and therefore,in communication systems with a large number of users,time-frequency resources are wasted significantly in the training *** cellular massive MIMO systems,the time-frequency resources can be used more efficiently by replacing the orthogonal pilots with shorter non-orthogonal pilot sequences in such a way that more space is available for the transmission of additional data symbols,and thus achieving higher data *** course,the use of non-orthogonal pilots introduces additional pilot contamination,so the performance improvement could be achieved under certain system conditions,which are thoroughly investigated in this *** first provide a performance analysis framework for the uplink of cellular massive MIMO systems in which the effect of user pilot non-orthogonality has been analytically *** this framework,we derive analytical expressions for the channel estimation,user Signal-to-Interference-plus-Noise-Ratio(SINR),and the average channel capacity per *** then use the proposed framework to evaluate the achievable spectral efficiency gain obtained by replacing orthogonal pilots with non-orthogonal *** particular,the existing trade-off between pilot lengths and the additional data symbols that can be transmitted by reducing the number of pilot symbols,is numerically quantified over a wide range of system parameters.

Block diagonalization coordinated transmission with zero-forcing in MIMO broadcast

This work has investigated coordinated multiple-input multiple-output （MIMO） transmission schemes in an interference-limited cellular downlink. It has proposed a novel block diagonalization （BD） coordinated transmission scheme, which combines with zero-forcing （ZF） criterion. In the scheme, the BD technique has advantages in suppressing multi-user interference while the ZF technique enables to mitigate interference among spatial data streams for a user. Based on the proposed coordinated scheme, an efficient power allocation is also put forward. The analyses show that the ergodic capacity of the proposed coordinated scheme is that of the MIMO channel with the maximum transmit power at each transmitter. Computer simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed coordinated scheme and its corresponding power allocation.
