Cell dysfunction is a central component of the pathogenesis of type 2 *** glucose-sensing pathway plays important roles in cell dysfunction,but its regulatory network is still poorly *** we show that novel transcription factor DPZF is highly expressed by pancreatic cells and acts as a critical regulator for the glucose-sensing and insulin secretion of *** gene was specifically ablated in cells by LoxP/Cre approach,and the cell-specific DPZF knockout mice exhibit hyperglycemia, impaired glucose tolerance,and the loss of first-phase insulin secretion after glucose *** isolated islets from the cell-specific DPZF knockout mice display defective glucose-stimulated insulin release in ***,the cell mass,total insulin content in cells,or the KCl-stimulated insulin release doesn't differ between the knockouts and control *** expression patterns of the genes which are potentially involved in glucose-sensing of cells are carefully *** together,these data suggest an important role for DPZF in cell function and a therapeutic target for diabetes.
