Carsten BolmProf. Dr. Bolm studied for a diploma (Dipl.-Chem.) and a M.S. in chemistry at the TU Braunschweig (Germany) and at the University of Wisconsin, Madison (USA) in 1978-1984 and 1983-1984, respectively. After finishing his doctorate in Marburg (Germany) in 1997 under the supervision of Manfred Reetz, he moved to MIT, Cambridge (USA), where he performed postdoctoral studies with K. Barry Sharpless. Subsequently, Prof. Dr. Bolm worked close to Bernd Giese in Basel (Switzerland) to carry out his habilitation. In 1993, he became a Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Marburg (Germany), and since 1996, he holds a chair of Organic Chemistry at RWTH Aachen University (Germany). In 2012, Prof. Dr. Bolm became an Adjunct Professor at WIT (Wuhan Institute of Technology), China, and in 2016, he was awarded an Honorary Professorship at Central China Normal University, Wuhan, China. Since 2014, he holds a Distinguished Professorship at RWTH Aachen University, and in 2022, he was elected to the Academia Europaea. His publication list has about 600 entries, and he has been selected three times as a “Thomson Reuters Highly Cited Researcher.”

PRINCIPLES OF DISINFECTION Determination of Scope and Objects One should determine the scope,the objects for disinfection,and the timing of disinfection based on an epidemiological investigation risk assessment.Places where patients and asymptomatic infected individuals have stayed,such as homes,medical institutions,isolation wards,transfer vehicles,etc.,should carry out concurrent disinfection and should have a terminal disinfection after discharge or death of a patient;for asymptomatic infected individuals,a terminal disinfection should be done after their nucleic acid test results turn negative.
