The rapid development of artificial intelligence has pushed the Internet of Things(Io T)into a new stage.Facing with the explosive growth of data and the higher quality of service required by users,edge computing and caching are regarded as promising solutions.However,the resources in edge nodes(ENs)are not inexhaustible.In this paper,we propose an incentive-aware blockchain-assisted intelligent edge caching and computation offloading scheme for Io T,which is dedicated to providing a secure and intelligent solution for collaborative ENs in resource optimization and controls.Specifically,we jointly optimize offloading and caching decisions as well as computing and communication resources allocation to minimize the total cost for tasks completion in the EN.Furthermore,a blockchain incentive and contribution co-aware federated deep reinforcement learning algorithm is designed to solve this optimization problem.In this algorithm,we construct an incentive-aware blockchain-assisted collaboration mechanism which operates during local training,with the aim to strengthen the willingness of ENs to participate in collaboration with security guarantee.Meanwhile,a contribution-based federated aggregation method is developed,in which the aggregation weights of EN gradients are based on their contributions,thereby improving the training effect.Finally,compared with other baseline schemes,the numerical results prove that our scheme has an efficient optimization utility of resources with significant advantages in total cost reduction and caching performance.

Applications with sensitive delay and sizeable data volumes,such as interactive gaming and augmented reality,have become popular in recent years.These applications pose a huge challenge for mobile users with limited resources.Computation offloading is a mainstream technique to reduce execution delay and save energy for mobile users.However,computation offloading requires communication between mobile users and mobile edge computing(MEC) servers.Such a mechanism would difficultly meet users’ demand in some data-hungry and computation-intensive applications because the energy consumption and delay caused by transmissions are considerable expenses for users.caching task data can effectively reduce the data transmissions when users offload their tasks to the MEC server.The limited caching space at the MEC server calls for judiciously decide which tasks should be cached.Motivated by this,we consider the joint optimization of computation offloading and task caching in a cellular network.In particular,it allows users to proactively cache or offload their tasks at the MEC server.The objective of this paper is to minimize the system cost,which is defined as the weighted sum of task execution delay and energy consumption for all users.Aiming at establishing optimal performance bound for the system design,we formulate an optimization problem by jointly optimizing the task caching,computation offloading,and resource allocation.The problem is a challenging mixed-integer non-linear programming problem and is NP-hard in general.To solve it efficiently,by using convex optimization,Karmarkar ’s algorithm and the proposed fast search algorithm,we obtain an optimal solution of the formulated problem with manageable computational complexity.Extensive simulation results show that in comparison to some representative benchmark methods,the proposed solution can effectively reduce the system cost.

An Information-Centric Network(ICN)provides a promising paradigm for the upcoming internet architecture,which will struggle with steady growth in data and changes in accessmodels.Various ICN architectures have been designed,including Named Data Networking(NDN),which is designed around content delivery instead of hosts.As data is the central part of the network.Therefore,NDN was developed to get rid of the dependency on IP addresses and provide content effectively.Mobility is one of the major research dimensions for this upcoming internet architecture.Some research has been carried out to solve the mobility issues,but it still has problems like handover delay and packet loss ratio during real-time video streaming in the case of consumer and producer mobility.To solve this issue,an efficient hierarchical Cluster Base Proactive caching for Device Mobility Management(CB-PC-DMM)in NDN Vehicular Networks(NDN-VN)is proposed,through which the consumer receives the contents proactively after handover during the mobility of the consumer.When a consumer moves to the next destination,a handover interest is sent to the connected router,then the router multicasts the consumer’s desired data packet to the next hop of neighboring routers.Thus,once the handover process is completed,consumers can easily get the content to the newly connected router.A CB-PCDMM in NDN-VN is proposed that improves the packet delivery ratio and reduces the handover delay aswell as cluster overhead.Moreover,the intra and inter-domain handover handling procedures in CB-PC-DMM for NDN-VN have been described.For the validation of our proposed scheme,MATLAB simulations are conducted.The simulation results show that our proposed scheme reduces the handover delay and increases the consumer’s interest satisfaction ratio.The proposed scheme is compared with the existing stateof-the-art schemes,and the total percentage of handover delays is decreased by up to 0.1632%,0.3267%,2.3437%,2.3255%,and 3.7313%at the mobility speeds of 5 m/s,10 m/s,15 m/s,20 m/s,and 25

Mobile operators face the challenge of how to best design a service-centric network that can effectively process the rapidly increasing number of bandwidth-intensive user requests while providing a higher quality of experience(QoE). Existing content distribution networks(CDN) and mobile content distribution networks(mCDN) have both latency and throughput limitations due to being multiple network hops away from end-users. Here, we first propose a new Personalized Edge caching System(PECS) architecture that employs big data analytics and mobile edge caching to provide personalized service access at the edge of the mobile network. Based on the proposed system architecture, the edge caching strategy based on user behavior and trajectory is analyzed. Employing our proposed PECS strategies, we use data mining algorithms to analyze the personalized trajectory and service usage patterns. Our findings provide guidance on how key technologies of PECS can be employed for current and future networks. Finally, we highlight the challenges associated with realizing such a system in 5G and beyond.

With the new promising technique of mobile edge computing (MEC) emerging, by utilizing the edge computing and cloud computing capabilities to realize the HTTP adaptive video streaming transmission in MEC-based 5G networks has been widely studied. Although many works have been done, most of the existing works focus on the issues of network resource utilization or the quality of experience (QoE) promotion, while the energy efficiency is largely ignored. In this paper, different from previous works, in order to realize the energy efficiency for video transmission in MEC-enhanced 5G networks, we propose a joint caching and transcoding schedule strategy for HTTP adaptive video streaming transmission by taking the caching and transcoding into consideration. We formulate the problem of energy-efficient joint caching and transcoding as an integer programming problem to minimize the system energy consumption. Due to solving the optimization problem brings huge computation complexity, therefore, to make the optimization problem tractable, a heuristic algorithm based on simulated annealing algorithm is proposed to iteratively reach the global optimum solution with a lower complexity and higher accuracy. Finally, numerical simulation results are illustrated to demonstrated that our proposed scheme brings an excellent performance.

Pushing popular contents to the edge of the network can meet the growing demand for data traffic, reduce latency and relieve the pressure of the backhaul. However, considering the limited storage space of the base stations, it is impossible to cache all the contents, especially in ultra-dense network(UDN). Furthermore, the uneven distribution of mobile users results in load imbalance among small base stations(SBSs) in both time and space, which also affects the caching strategy. To overcome these shortcoming, the impact of the changing load imbalance in UDN was investigated, and then a dynamic hierarchical collaborative caching(DHCC) scheme was proposed to optimize latency and caching hit rate. The storage of the SBS is logically divided into the independent caching layer and the collaborative caching layer. The independent caching layer caches the most popular contents for local users’ interest, and the collaborative caching layer caches contents as much as possible for the benefit of content diversity in the region. Different SBSs have respective storage space layer division ratios, according to their real-time traffic load. For SBSs with heavy load, the independent caching layers are allocated with more space. Otherwise, the collaborative caching layers could store more contents with larger space. The simulation results show that, DHCC improved both transmission latency and hit rate compared with existing caching schemes.

caching and virtualization have been considered as the promising techniques in 5G Networks. In 5G networks with virtualization, the caching resources deployed by infrastructure providers (InPs) can be abstracted into isolated slices and transparently shared by mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs). In this case, one of the most important issues is how the MVNOs to share the caching resource. To solve this issue, different from previous works, a hierarchical caching architecture that core network and radio access network (RAN) have the caching capability in 5G networks with virtualization is first considered in this paper. Then, we study the problem of hierarchical caching resource sharing for MVNOs, and a competitive game to maximize their expectation revenue based on the oligopoly market model is formulated. As it is a hard problem to find the optimal solution in the hierarchical caching resource sharing problem, we decompose the optimization problem into two independent caching resource sharing problems in RAN and core network, respectively. Then the local optimal solutions are solved and the global Nash equilibrium solution is achieved. Finally, simulation results are illustrated to demonstrate the performance of the proposed scheme.

Recently, due to the deployment flexibility of unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs), UAV-assisted mobile relay communication system has been widely used in the maritime communication. However, the performance of UAV-assisted mobile relay communication system is limited by the capacity of wireless backhaul link between base station and UAV. In this paper, we consider a caching UAV-assisted decode-and-forward relay communication system in a downlink maritime communication. For the general case with multiple users, the optimal placement of UAV is obtained by solving the average achievable rate maximization problem through the one-dimensional linear search. For a special case with single user, we derive a semi closedform expression of the optimal placement of UAV. Simulation results confirm the accuracy of analytical results and show that the optimal placement of UAV and the average achievable rate significantly depend on the cache capacity at UAV. We also show the difference between the performances of the air-to-ground model and the air-to-sea model.

Moving data from cloud to the edge network can effectively reduce traffic burden on the core network,and edge collaboration can further improve the edge caching capacity and the quality of service(QoS).However,it is difficult for various edge caching devices to cooperate due to the lack of trust and the existence of malicious nodes.In this paper,blockchain which has the distributed and immutable characteristics is utilized to build a trustworthy collaborative edge caching scheme to make full use of the storage resources of various edge devices.The collaboration process is described in this paper,and a proof of credit(PoC)protocol is proposed,in which credit and tokens are used to encourage nodes to cache and transmit more content in honest behavior.Untrusted nodes will pay for their malicious actions such as tampering or deleting cached data.Since each node chooses strategy independently to maximize its benefits in an environment of mutual influence,a non-cooperative game model is designed to study the caching behavior among edge nodes.The existence of Nash equilibrium(NE)is proved in this game,so the edge server(ES)can choose the optimal caching strategy for all collaborative devices,including itself,to obtain the maximum rewards.Simulation results show that the system can save mining overhead as well as organize a trusted collaborative edge caching effectively.
