Investigation of genome instability in patients with non-alcoholic steatohepatitis

AIM:To evaluate the occurrence of micronucleus(MN),nucleoplasmic bridges(NPBs)and nuclear buds(NBUDs)in the mitogen-stimulated lymphocytes of patients with non-alcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH).METHODS:The study was performed in 25(9 females,16 males)patients newly diagnosed with NASH,and 25healthy subjects of similar ages and genders were used as a control group.None of the controls was known to be receiving any drugs for medical or other reasons or using alcohol.Hepatosteatosis was further excluded by abdominal ultrasound imaging in the control group.The numbers of MN,NPBs and NBUDs scored in binucleated(BN)cells were obtained from the mitogen-stimulated lymphocytes of patients and control subjects.Statistical comparisons of the numbers of BN cells with MN,NPBs and NBUDs and ages between the patients with NASH and control subjects were performed.RESULTS:The mean ages of the patients and the control group were 41.92±13.33 and 41.80±13.09 years(P>0.05),respectively.The values of the mean body mass index(BMI),HOMA-IR,hemoglobin,creatinin,aspartate aminotransferase,alanine aminotransferase,triglyceride,high density lipoprotein,and low density lipoprotein were 31.19±4.62 kg/m2vs 25.07±4.14 kg/m2,6.71±4.68 vs 1.40±0.53,14.73±1.49 g/dL vs 14.64±1.30 g/dL,0.74±0.15 mg/dL vs 0.80±0.13 mg/dL,56.08±29.11 U/L vs 16.88±3.33 U/L,92.2±41.43U/L vs 15.88±5.88 U/L,219.21±141.68 mg/dL vs102.56±57.98 mg/dL,16.37±9.65 mg/dL vs 48.72±15.31 mg/dL,and 136.75±30.14 mg/dL vs 114.63±34.13 mg/dL in the patients and control groups,respectively.The total numbers and frequencies of BN cells with MN,NPBs and NBUDs,which were scored using the CBMN cytome assay on PHA-stimulated lymphocytes,were evaluated in the patients with NASH and control group.We found significantly higher numbers of MN,NPBs and NBUDs in the BN cells of patients with NASH than in those of the control subjects(21.60±9.32vs 6.88±3.91;29.28±13.31 vs 7.84±3.96;15.60±5.55 vs 4.20±1.63,respectively,P<0.0001).CONCLUSION:The increased numbers of MN,NPBs and NBUDs observed in the lym

bridges are omnipresent in every society and they affect its human, social, ecological, economical and cultural aspects. This is why a durable and safe usage of bridges is an imperative goal of structural management. Measurement and monitoring have an essential role in structural management. The benefits of the information obtained by monitoring are apparent in several domains. In deformation analysis, the functional relationship between the acting forces and the resulting deformations should be established. If time depending observations are given, a regression could be used as a functional model. In case of stochastic model uncorrelated observations with identical variance are assumed. Due to the high sampling rate, a small time difference arises between two observations. Thus the assumed stochastic model is not suitable. The calculation has to be effected by means of auto-correlated observations. This paper investigates an integrated monitoring system for the estimation of the deformation (i.e., static, quasi-static) behavior of bridges from total station observations and studies the effect of autocorrelation technique on the accuracy of the estimated parameters and variances. The results have shown that autocorrelation technique is reduced the standard deviation of X&Y-direction about 6.7% to 29.4% and 6.5% to 15.5% of the original value, respectively, but the situation was differ in Z direction;the standard deviation in vertical component Z was increased.

Starting from the ideas of Conventional Post Tensioning we present a heuristic argument of advantages of combined actions of post compression along with post tensioned technique for a PSC member through a Design Example. Our aim was to assess the characterization of a pre stressed member if it was?to be under the Load effects of post compressing a bar with post tensioned method through hydraulic jacks as the reinforcements in the tensioned zone of conventional PSC bridge were to be compressed in order to induce internal tensile stress similar to internal compressive stresses developed due to conventional post tensioned design. The results ultimately concluded that post compressing a Slender bar by a pre stressing force in the compression zone by a value equal to 0.1?-?0.7 times the pre stressing force in the tension zone would eventually lead to cancelling out of tensile and compressive stresses, thereby forming the desired section which is comparatively smaller in size but can account for sustainability. The anchorage at the top end was?provided by special slender steel rods to eliminate the compressive stresses. All the dead loads?were?counteracted by the action of prestress and the bridge section was able to carry only live load which is deduced through examples in the article.

Biologically active molecules create substitutes in liquid water by forming single-domain ferroelectric crystallites. These nanoparticles are spherical and constitute growing chains. The dipoles are aligned, but can be set in oscillation at the frequency of vibration of the charged part of active molecules. They are then automatically trimmed and become information carriers. Moreover, they produce an oscillating electric field, causing autocatalytic multiplication of identical chains in the course of successive dilutions. Active molecules are thus only required to initiate this process. Normally, they excite their specific receptors by resonance, but trimmed chains have the same effect. This theory is confirmed by many measurements.

As the new materials and technologies are increasingly applied to construction of civil infrastructures such bridges, dam and tunnels, the need for structural monitoring systems, maintenance and restoration becomes more important and vital. bridges are widespread in every society and affect its human, social, economical and cultural aspects. Measurements and monitoring of the structural deformation of highway bridges have an essential role in structural safety. This paper investigates an integrated monitoring system for estimation of the deformation behavior of one of the important reinforced bridges in Egypt. The applied data for analysing the deformation of any structure from geodetic observations are the coordinates of several monitoring points distributed on the structure itself. The coordinates of these points are calculated with respect to control fixed points. So any deviations in the control points coordinates between the two successive epochs of observations will affect the values of structural deformation. To overcome this shortage, applying the multi-parameter transformation will be studied in this paper for structural health monitoring of bridges. Statistical tests using F-Fisher criterion with a confidence level of 98% of the geodetic observations for bridge deformation values are also presented. The results of the practical measurements, analysis of the interesting deformation technique and traffic flow around the studied highway bridge are also presented. The resulting structural deformation values from statistical tests provide a significant improvement of understanding and prediction the structure deformation values of highway bridges.
