Efficacy and safety of Huzhang Granule,a compound Chinese herbal medicine,for acute gouty arthritis:A double-blind,randomized controlled trial

Background:Acute gouty arthritis(AGA)is an inflammatory joint disease with a high prevalence.Typical medical interventions,including nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs,colchicine and glucocorticoids,can have serious adverse reactions.Huzhang Granule(HZG),a compound Chinese herbal medicine,has been used to treat AGA for more than 30 years with satisfactory effects and no significant adverse reactions.However,the efficacy and safety of HZG in AGA patients remains unknown.Objective:The present investigation was designed to examine the efficacy and safety profile of HZG in managing AGA patients.Design,setting,participants and interventions:The current study was conducted as a noninferiority,randomized controlled clinical trial on 180 eligible enrolled participants.Participants were randomly assigned into the HZG and etoricoxib groups.Treatments were administered for 5 d,during which the HZG group received HZG and placebo etoricoxib,while the etoricoxib group received etoricoxib and placebo HZG in the same ratio(1:1).Main outcome measures:The primary outcome was pain experienced by the patient in the gout-afflicted joint from days 2 to 5 of the treatment window.The pain level was measured via a visual analogue scale,ranging from 0 mm to 100 mm.The secondary outcomes comprised joint tenderness and swelling,reduction of inflammatory biomarkers,and the patient’s and investigator’s global evaluations of therapeutic response.Results:The mean reduction in pain was-51.22 mm(95%confidence interval[CI],[-53.42,-49.03]mm)for the HZG and-52.00 mm(95%CI,[-54.06,-49.94]mm)for the etoricoxib groups.The mean difference between the two groups was 0.78 mm(95%CI,[-2.25,3.81]mm).All additional efficacy endpoints,covering decreased inflammation and pain relief,yielded compelling proof of noninferiority.Patients in the HZG group exhibited a comparatively lower rate of adverse events compared to those in the etoricoxib group(4.44%vs 13.33%;P≤0.05).Conclusion:HZG and etoricoxib groups demonstrated similar levels of analgesic effectiveness

1 Introduction blind signature allows a user to obtain the signature of a message from a signer without revealing the information of the message,as well as defending against forgery.In recent years,there have been increased efforts to design post-quantum blind signature schemes,since it is known that classical cryptography assumptions(e.g.,integer factoring problem and discrete logarithm problem)are not secure against attacks carried out using quantum computers[1].One popular approach is to design blind signature schemes using lattice.The first lattice-based blind signature scheme is proposed by Rückert[2],who also presented a general process of constructing lattice-based blind signature influenced by Lyubashevskys’s secure framework[3].Rückert’s approach achieves both blindness and one-more unforgeability in the random oracle model.Since then,many other blind signature schemes have extended Rückert signature scheme.For example,based on Crystals-Dilithium[4](one of the NIST post-quantum signature standardization),Le et al.[5]created a blind signature from module lattices.

Triplophysa xuanweiensis sp.nov.,a new blind loach species from the family Nemacheilidae,is described based on specimens collected from a subterranean river in Xuanwei City,Yunnan Province,China.The new species can be distinguished from all known congeners by a combination of the following characters:eyes absent,dorsal-fin origin anterior to pelvic-fin origin,tip of pelvic fin reaching anus,dorsal fin with 7-8 branched rays,caudal fin forked with 16-18 branched rays,body scaleless and colorless,lateral line complete,and posterior chamber of air bladder well developed and connected to anterior chamber by long,slender tube.

DEAR EDITOR,A blind fish of Sinocyclocheilus (Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae)was caught in open water in the Three Gorges (Sanxia)reservoir, at a depth of 20 m in the mainstream of YangtzeRiver in Zigui County, Hubei Province, China. This fish can beeasily distinguished from all other congeners by externalmorphological characteristics, and is estimated to havediverged from its sister group about 0.55 million years ago(Ma). The geologically well separated locality of this specieshas expanded the distribution of Sinocyclocheilus cavefishfrom around N25°(latitude) to above N30°. Herein, wedescribe this new species as Sinocyclocheilus sanxiaensis sp.nov., and discuss the possible reasons why the speciesappears, surprisingly, in the Three Gorges reservoir.

TDOA estimation of dual-satellites interference localization based on blind separation

The time difference of arrival(TDOA)estimation plays a crucial role in the accurate localization of the satellite interference source.In the dual-satellites interference source localization system,the target signal from the adjacent satellite is likely to be interfered by the normal communication signal with the same frequency.Therefore,the signal to noise ratio(SNR)of the target signal would become too low,and the TDOA estimation through cross-correlation processing would be unreliable or even unattainable.This paper proposes a technique based on blind separation to solve the co-channel interference problem,where separation of the mixed signal can be carried out by the particle filter(PF)algorithm.The experimental results show that the proposed method could achieve more accurate TDOA estimation.The measured data obtained by using the software radio platform at 915 MHz and 2 GHz respectively verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Modulation Recognition in Maritime Multipath Channels:A blind Equalization-Aided Deep Learning Approach

Modulation recognition has been long investigated in the literature,however,the performance could be severely degraded in multipath fading channels especially for high-order Quadrature Amplitude Modulation(QAM)signals.This could be a critical problem in the broadband maritime wireless communications,where various propagation paths with large differences in the time of arrival are very likely to exist.Specifically,multiple paths may stem from the direct path,the reflection paths from the rough sea surface,and the refraction paths from the atmospheric duct,respectively.To address this issue,we propose a novel blind equalization-aided deep learning(DL)approach to recognize QAM signals in the presence of multipath propagation.The proposed approach consists of two modules:A blind equalization module and a subsequent DL network which employs the structure of ResNet.With predefined searching step-sizes for the blind equalization algorithm,which are designed according to the set of modulation formats of interest,the DL network is trained and tested over various multipath channel parameter settings.It is shown that as compared to the conventional DL approaches without equalization,the proposed method can achieve an improvement in the recognition accuracy up to 30%in severe multipath scenarios,especially in the high SNR regime.Moreover,it efficiently reduces the number of training data that is required.

Image blind Deblurring Using an Adaptive Patch Prior

Image blind deblurring uses an estimated blur kernel to obtain an optimal restored original image with sharp features from a degraded image with blur and noise artifacts. This method, however, functions on the premise that the kernel is estimated accurately. In this work, we propose an adaptive patch prior for improving the accuracy of kernel estimation. Our proposed prior is based on local patch statistics and can rebuild low-level features,such as edges, corners, and junctions, to guide edge and texture sharpening for blur estimation. Our prior is a nonparametric model, and its adaptive computation relies on internal patch information. Moreover, heuristic filters and external image knowledge are not used in our prior. Our method for the reconstruction of salient step edges in a blurry patch can reduce noise and over-sharpening artifacts. Experiments on two popular datasets and natural images demonstrate that the kernel estimation performance of our method is superior to that of other state-of-the-art methods.

Improved statistical sparse decomposition principle method for underdetermined blind source signal recovery

Aiming at the statistical sparse decomposition principle(SSDP) method for underdetermined blind source signal recovery with problem of requiring the number of active signals equal to that of the observed signals, which leading to the application bound of SSDP is very finite, an improved SSDP(ISSDP) method is proposed. Based on the principle of recovering the source signals by minimizing the correlation coefficients within a fixed time interval, the selection method of mixing matrix’s column vectors used for signal recovery is modified, which enables the choose of mixing matrix’s column vectors according to the number of active source signals self-adaptively. By simulation experiments, the proposed method is validated. The proposed method is applicable to the case where the number of active signals is equal to or less than that of observed signals, which is a new way for underdetermined blind source signal recovery.

With the rapid development of IoT(Internet of Things),VANETs(Vehicular Ad-Hoc Networks)have become an attractive ad-hoc network that brings convenience into people’s lives.Vehicles can be informed of the position,direction,speed and other real-time information of nearby vehicles to avoid traffic jams and accidents.However,VANET environments could be dangerous in the absence of security protection.Because of the openness and self-organization of VANETs,there are plenty of malicious pathways.To guarantee vehicle security,the research aims to provide an effective VANET security mechanism that can track malicious vehicles as necessary.Therefore,this work focuses on malicious vehicles and proposes an anonymous authentication scheme in VANETs based on the fair blind signature to protect vehicle security.

Source Recovery in Underdetermined blind Source Separation Based on Artificial Neural Network

We propose a novel source recovery algorithm for underdetermined blind source separation, which can result in better accuracy and lower computational cost. On the basis of the model of underdetermined blind source separation, the artificial neural network with single-layer perceptron is introduced into the proposed algorithm. Source signals are regarded as the weight vector of single-layer perceptron, and approximate ι~0-norm is taken into account for output error decision rule of the perceptron, which leads to the sparse recovery. Then the procedure of source recovery is adjusting the weight vector of the perceptron. What's more, the optimal learning factor is calculated and a descent sequence of smoothed parameter is used during iteration, which improves the performance and significantly decreases computational complexity of the proposed algorithm. The simulation results reveal that the algorithm proposed can recover the source signal with high precision, while it requires lower computational cost.
