Most common cause of thalamic bleed is hypertension;other causes are arteriovenous malformation,aneurysm,bleeding thathesis,drugs,amyloid angiopathy,tumor *** present a case of Plasmodium vivax(***) malaria with unusual site of bleeding *** thalamus of *** the best of our knowledge,this is the first reported case of thalamic bleed caused by vivax malaria in absence of severe thrombocytopenia/disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC).

We present an unusual case of renal cell cancer(RCC) which relapsed with duodenal metastasis and unveiled itself by gastrointestinal(GI) *** 80-year old Caucasian gentleman with history of renal cell cancer status post nephrectomy 11 mo previously,presented with syncope and *** tomography scan of the abdomen revealed heterogeneous soft tissue mass in the right nephrectomy bed invading the *** GI endoscopic biopsy confirmed the presence of recurrent renal cell ***,due to extensive metastatic disease,the patient was placed on palliative chemotherapy as surgical options were ruled *** case report reiterates the fact that renal cell carcinoma can recur with gastrointestinal manifestations and,although a rarity,it should be considered in a patient with a history of malignancy who presents with these symptoms.

In order to improve the benefits of base bleed in base flow field,the base flow with hot base bleed for two jet models is *** axisymmetric Navier-Stokes equations are computed by using a finite volume *** base flow of a cylinder afterbody with base bleed is *** simulation results are validated with the experimental data,and the experimental results are well *** this basis,the base flow fields with base bleed for a circular jet model and an annulus jet model are investigated by selecting the injection temperature from 830 K to 2200 *** results show that the base pressure of the annular jet model is higher than that of the circular jet model with the changes of the injection parameter and the injection *** the circular jet model,the hot gases are concentrated in the vicinity of the *** the annular jet model,the bleed gases flow into the shear layer directly so that the hot gases are concentrated in the shear *** latter temperature distribution is better for the increase of base pressure.

Gastrointestinal bleeds are a commonly observed complication after left ventricular assist device placement and usually caused by formation of arteriovenous malformations or acquired von Willebrand disease in the setting of anticoagulation use. We present a unique case of an upper GI bleed in which the cause was likely due to the impaction of a guitar pick into the duodenal bulb in the setting of continuous flow-LVAD on anticoagulation with elevated INR and discuss the pathophysiology of GI bleeds post-LVAD placement and relevant concerns about finding foreign bodies in the GI tract and their complications.

There are certification and airworthiness requirements relevant to the provision of clean breathing air in the crew and passenger compartments. There have been continuing reports and studies over the years regarding oil fumes in aircraft, including impaired crew performance. Oil fumes are viewed in varying ways ranging from rare seal bearing failures, to low level leakage in normal flight. A Masters of Science (MSc) research degree was undertaken to assess whether there is any gap between the certification requirements for the provision of clean air in crew and passenger compartments, and the theoretical and practical implementation of the requirements using the bleed air system. A comprehensive literature search reviewed applicable certification standards, documented and theoretical understanding of oil leakage. Two types of interviews were conducted to address the research questions. Key aviation regulators were questioned about the process by which they certify and ensure compliance with the clean air requirements. Aerospace engineers and sealing professionals were interviewed about their understanding of how oil may leak past compressor oil bearing seals, and into the air supply under various flight conditions. The outcome of the research showed that there is a gap between the clean air certification requirements, and the theoretical and practical implementation of the requirements using the bleed air system. Low level oil leakage into the aircraft cabin in normal flight operations is a function of the design of the engine lubricating system and bleed air systems, both utilising pressurised air. The use of the bleed air system to supply the regulatory required air quality standards is not being met or being enforced as required.

The bleed slot is necessary for the requirement of the hypersonic quiet flow all over the world. The aim of the bleed slot is to decrease the influence of the disturbances from the contraction of the quiet nozzle to the boundary layer downstream of the throat, so that the boundary layer of the nozzle could be maintained as laminar flow. The main parameters of the bleed slot include the distance from lip to throat (DLT) and the width of slot (WS). Various values of those parameters will affect the performance of the slot by changing the suction intensity of the bleed slot. Two kinds of the bleed slots in the world are compared in this paper and the aerodynamic design of the bleed slots is optimized based on the Purdue-type slot. The influences of the various values of those parameters to the flow field around the throat are analyzed and the optimizing results of DLT and WS are consistent with those relative data designed for the slot of the Boeing/AFOSR Ma 6 Quiet Tunnel.

Human myiasis is common in the tropical and subtropical areas of the world. Tracheostomal myiasis is a rare entity, and only 7 such cases have been reported in literature. Our study emphasizes the importance of health education with regards to hygiene, sanitation and home tracheostomy tube care especially in immunocompromised individuals.
