At present,there is an increasing demand for natural bioactive compounds able to provide health benefits when included and consumed in a functional food or in a *** this regard,microalgae are promising natural sources with great potential,not only considering that these organisms are largely underexplored,but also because microalgae can be produced at large scale and their chemical composition might be tuned to over-synthesize a particular target *** use of advanced sustainable extraction techniques to recover these bioactive compounds is a must *** work presents an overview on the use of compressed fluid-based extraction techniques to obtain bioactive compounds from microalgae that can be seen also as a first step towards its recovery at larger *** relevant,the description of the analytical procedure used to chemically characterize the bioactive compounds is also included.

The well-known relation between food and bioactives explores the great prospective of innovative and novel food to maintain or improve health,increasing the demand investigating advance products with medicinal *** somnifera also known as‘Ashwagandha’in India,is one of the most utilized plants in different ancient medicine *** present work is an effort to develop a knowledge-based concept and a quality control approach for the development of functional *** study took into account the standardization criteria and examined how different geographies or different field sites(of India)would influence the phytoconstituents and their distribution in the different samples of *** level were strongly influenced by soil quality,cultivar,and growing *** increase in phenolic content,flavonoid content,antioxidants and the quality yield,were all correlated with increased phytoconstituent *** highest hydro-methanolic extract yield(by reflux(Soxhlet),sonication(20 min)and maceration(16 h)was from the sample collected from Rajasthan(18.61%,m/m)followed by West Bengal(11.21%)and Madhya Pradesh(12.67%)*** methanolic extract of Rajasthan sample(produced by the reflux(Soxhlet)extraction method)had the highest concentrations of flavonoids(65.32 mg quercetin equivalent(QE)/g)and the total phenols(60.35 mg gallic acid equivalent(GAE)/g),while Madhya Pradesh sample(distilled water reflux(Soxhlet))extract had the highest antioxidant content(74.13%).High performance thin layer chromatography(HPTLC)method was also utilized for identification of withanolides *** separations were carried out using V(ethyl acetate):V(toluene):V(acetic acid)=9.1:1:0.6 as the mobile *** gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer(GC-MS)study of hydro-methanolic Soxhlet extract of *** from 3 different regions of India was done and the total phytochemical substances identified were 132 in sample from Rajasthan,107

The abscisic acid (ABA) is related to the formation of certain polyphenols, such as anthocyanin, improving the nutritional and commercial quality of the red grapes. In this study, we verified whether the exogenous application of?S-ABA favors the accumulation of anthocyanin, the total phenolic compounds and the antioxidant activity of the?‘Rubi’?grape. The experiment was performed during the cycle 2014/2015 with the?‘Rubi’?vine (Vitis vinifera?L.) grafted in the rootstock 420-A. The experimental design was composed of randomized blocks, with four treatments and six blocks, in a total of 24 experimental parcels, constituted of one plant each. We used the?S-ABA isomer in different concentrations and times of application, 400 mg·L-1?S-ABA in the beginning of the ripening (BR);400 mg·L-1?at BR + 200 mg·L-1?at 25 days after first application (DAFA);400 mg·L-1at BR + 400 mg·L-1?at 25 DAFA;besides the control (0 mg·L-1). After 40 days of the first application, the samples were harvested and we verified that the?S-ABA induced the accumulation of anthocyanins and total phenolic compounds in the?‘Rubi’?grape. From these results we can recommend two applications of?S-ABA, 400 mg·L-1?at BR + 200 mg·L-1?at 25 DAFA.

Objective:To investigate the in vitro antimicrobial potential of mangrove associates against a battery of human and shrimp pathogenic bacteria and to elucidate its antimicrobial ***:In the present study,12 species of mangrove associates collected from the Kollam(southwest coast of India)vicinity were extracted in different organic solvents of increasing *** resultant extracts obtained from the respective species were examined for the antimicrobial activity against a panel of shrimp and human pathogens by agar diffusion ***:Of the 12 species evaluated,three species of mangrove associates[Calophyllum inophyllum(***),Cerbera odollam and Dalbergia candenatensis]were found to be *** broadest and highest rank of activity was observed in the crude extract of *** the pathogens tested,shrimp pathogenic Vibrios were the most sensitive organisms while human pathogens were found to be a bit *** the present study,ethyl acetate was found to be the best solvent for extracting antimicrobial *** bioactive principles present in the crude extract of *** were chemically elucidated by gas chromatography-mass *** gas chromatography-mass spectrometer studies revealed the presence of two principal compounds such as 1-Dimethyl(phenyl)silyloxyhexadecane(24.73%)and β-d-Mannofuranoside,O-geranyl(50%)which might play functional role in the chemical defense against microbial ***:Based on the overall findings,it could be inferred that the mangrove associate *** is a promising candidate for the development of plant-based human and veterinary grade antibiotics in future.
