Environmental and biological sensing with fluorescent probes contribute to important significance in monitoring of heavy and transition metal ions in environmental, cellular and subcellular samples as well as crucial biochemical processes in organisms and allows for potential applications in various fields from fundamental biological research to clinical diagnostic. However, some reported probes sometimes suffer the shortcomings of poor solubility, fluorescent stability and sustainability. In this study, we introduce benzoazoles as recognizing functional group which can significantly improve the selectivity, sensitivity, solubility, biocompatibility and cellular affinity in achieving the specific sensing of metal ions including Fe, Hg and Sn. Combination experimentally and computationally investigation of the recognition behavior can be great help in understanding the mechanism and facilitate the design of novel kind of functional group. Imaging experiments in living cells and microbial cell-EPS-mineral aggregates provide promising candidates for biological and bioleaching studies, which contribute to significant breakthroughs in understanding the correlation of target metal ions with related cells and organic substances.

Direct C-H Bond Activation of Benzoxazole and Benzothiazole with Aryl Bromides Catalyzed by Palladium（Ⅱ）-N-heterocyclic Carbene Complexes

Herein, we report that a series of novel palladium（II）-NHC complexes （NHC=N-heterocyclic carbene） were synthesized. The structures of all novel complexes were characterized by ^1H NMR, ^13C NMR, FT-IR spectroscopy and elemental analysis techniques. These palladium（ll）-NHC complexes were tested as efficient catalysts in the direct C-H bond activation of benzoxazole and benzothiazole with aryl bromides in the presence of 1 mol% catalyst loading at 150 ℃ for 4 h. Under the given conditions, various aryl bromides were successfully applied as the arylating reagents to achieve the 2-arylbenzoxazoles and 2-arylbenzothiazoles in acceptable to high yields.
