An incomplete diallel cross study using 6 Japonica restorer lines and 8 cytoplasm male sterility(CMS)lines and 48 F combinations was conducted to determine the combining ability of four traits of anther which associated with high temperature tolerance at flowering *** four traits were the length and width of basal dehiscence of anther(BDL,BDW),length and width of apical dehiscence of anther(ADL,ADW).The broad-sense heritability(H)for BDL,BDW,ADL,and ADW were 88.9%,58.7%,75.2%,and 74%,*** narrow-sense heritability(H)of those four traits was 76.5%,37.9%,66.0%,and 65.9%,*** results suggested that the additive gene effect was predominant in inheritance of BDL,same as ADL and *** non-additive gene activity also existed in the heritability for *** combining ability(GCA)effects of CMS and Restorer lines for four traits were from74.92μm to-74.46μ*** combining ability(SCA)of CMS×Restorer lines for four traits was from140.0μm to-46.79μ*** BDL,ADL and ADW have high heritability and selection in early generation maybe *** significant regression was existed between the BDL and BDW,ADL and ADW,ADL and BDL suggest that selection of BDL also can improve the BDW and ADL.
