The inflammato ry response plays an important role in neuroprotection and regeneration after ischemic *** use of non-ste roidal anti-inflammatory drugs has been a matter of debate as to whether they have beneficial or detrimental *** this context,the effects of the anti-inflammatory agent meloxicam have been scarcely documented after stro ke,but its ability to inhibit both cyclooxygenase isoforms(1 and 2) could be a promising strategy to modulate postischemic *** study analyzed the effect of meloxicam in a transient focal cerebral ischemia model in rats,measuring its neuroprotective effect after 48 hours and 7 days of reperfusion and the effects of the treatment on the glial scar and regenerative events such as the generation of new progenitors in the subventricular zone and axonal sprouting at the edge of the damaged *** show that meloxicam’s neuroprotective effects remained after 7 days of reperfusion even if its administration was restricted to the two first days after ***,meloxicam treatment modulated glial scar reactivity,which matched with an increase in axonal ***,this treatment decreased the formation of neuronal progenitor *** study discusses the dual role of anti-inflammatory treatments after stro ke and encourages the careful analysis of both the neuroprotective and the regenerative effects in preclinical studies.

＜正＞The 43-kD growth-associated protein（GAP-43） is a unique membrane associated protein in the nervous system. It has attracted much attention because the properties of the protein are associated with axonal growth during development and synaptic plasticity,axonal regeneration in the ***,some reports have demonstrated that an increased expression of GAP-43 in vivo may induce cellular apoptosis during the development and regeneration in the nervous system,suggesting that the GAP-43 may play a dual role in different *** on this observation,a hypothesis that axonal growth can be realized towards attractive signals,and collapse of growth cone and then cell death in unfavorable condition following a brain injury,can be *** order to verify this hypothesis and explore the molecular mechanism underlying the involvement of GAP-43 into these processes,we obtained the GAP-43 gene from the rat,utilizing the PT-PCR and inserted into pGEM-T vector firstly,then amplified a series GAP-43 mutant in this *** expression construct was prepared with cloning the GAP-43 CDS sequence into the BigⅡ/HindⅢsites of the retroviral vector pLNCX- 2,transfected *** PT67 packaging cell *** the GAP-43 overexpressed cell types obtained by retroviral-mediated gene transfer,identified by both real-time PCR and western *** function of GAP-43 of transfected MN9D cells in different condition was also investigated in present *** results showed that the overexpression of GAP-43 indeed promote neurite growth and nerve sprouting,and did not influence the cells viability directly in favorable condition.
