Planar scintigraphy in assessment of mandibular asymmetry: Unilateral condylar hyperplasia vs asymmetric mandibular hyperplasia

Objectives: To 1) explore the planar scintigraphic findings in asymmetry patients caused by unilateral condylar hyperplasia (UCH) or asymmetric mandibular hyperplasia (AMH);2) develop a local agecondylar activity reference norm;and 3) check the accuracy of the new norm and compare with other analytical methods. Material and Method: Chinese patients with mandibular asymmetry and scintigraphic findings available were recruited. Clinical, radiographic records and scintigraphic condylar activity ratio (CAR) were studied. Regression analysis was performed to quantify the relationship between age and CAR to develop a new norm. The sensitivity of condylar activity assessment using a) traditional norm;b) new norm;and c) percentile difference was compared. In patients with serial data available, longitudinal analysis of the scintigraphic changes were checked. Result: 109 patients were eligible for the study. Significant difference in CAR was noted between UCH and AMH patients. Linear relationship was observed between age and CAR. A new norm of the age-CAR was established, which showed improved sensitivity in condylar activity prediction in UCH and AMH when compared with traditional norm. Relative to percentile difference, the sensitivity of new norm was lower in AMH but not in UCH patients. Serial analysis revealed gradual decline in CAR with minimal change in percentile difference. Conclusion and Clinical Relevance: There is difference in scintigraphic condylar activity between UCH and AMH patients. A norm of age-CAR relationship was established, which showed improved sensitivity in condylar activity prediction in UCH patients. Further study is required to confirm the role of scintigraphy in AMH.

The“maturity gap”between generations is an objective fact that can only be narrowed through education.The asymmetry between generations is the anthropological base for education,and thus school education originated when this asymmetry enlarged.The print media protects this asymmetry,whereas the electronic media decrease the asymmetry,causing it to quickly fade away.However,when the asymmetry between generations fades away,the legitimacy and attraction of school education will be reduced,which is the primary reason that modern schools encounter so many crises.In the age of electronic media,schools must search for a new legitimate basis and transform into a“learning community.”

A Study on the asymmetry in the Role of Monetary Policy by Using STR model

The effects of monetary policy on the economy show different with respect to its direction,power and the different economic cycle. That is to say, there exists asymmetry in the role of monetary policy. It’s important to research this asymmetry for monetary policy making and keeping economy’s steady growth In this paper, we aim to study the asymmetry in the role of monetary policy with respect to the different economic cycle. First, monetary shock is estimated by using monetary gap and output gap is calculated via HP filter method. Second, based on the monetary gap and output gap, the asymmetric impacts of monetary gap are measured by STR model. The results show that the impacts of monetary shock on economy are asymmetrical significantly. The impact of monetary policy on economy in upturn stage is larger than its impact in downturn stage.

foF2 Seasonal asymmetry Time Variation at Korhogo Station from 1992 to 2002

foF2 seasonal asymmetry is investigated at Korhogo station from 1992 to 2002. We show that equinoctial asymmetry is less pronounced and somwhere is absent trough out solar cycle phase. In general, the absence of equinoctial asymmetry may be due to the fact that in equinox and for each solar cycle phase, the asymmetry is due to Russell-McPherron mechanism. The solstice anomaly or annual anomaly is always observed throughout solar cycle phase. The minimum value of ΔfoF2 is inferior than −60% seen during all solar cycle phase at 0700 LT. This annual asymmetry may be due to interplanetary corpuscular radiation.

In recent years, the rapid innovation and development of financial industry has made financial enterprises have a lot of information. However, the large amount of information is tampered with and fragmented, which cannot be shared. With the constant innovation of science and technology, it is the most effective way to solve the information lag and asymmetry of financial products. This article aims to start from the problem of asymmetric information of financial products, the analysis of the emerging block chain technology applied in the financial sector, and with the development of asset securitization information known as the typical scenario for the first time, a concrete analysis information game process, and discuss about the application of chain blocks in securitization feasibility.

Comparisons and Contrasts between asymmetry and Nestedness in Interacting Ecological Networks

We compare and contrast asymmetry and nestedness, two concepts used in the characterisation of the specialist-generalist balance in bipartite ecological interaction networks. Our analysis is relevant to mutualistic networks such as those consisting of flowering plants and pollinators, or fruiting plants and frugivores, or antagonistic networks such as those consisting of plants and herbivores, in an ecological community. We shall refer to the two sets of species in the bipartite network as plants and animals, the usual but not the only ecological situation. By asymmetry we mean either connectivity asymmetry or dependence asymmetry, which are essentially equivalent. asymmetry expresses two attributes: generalists interact preferentially with specialists, and specialists avoid interacting with each other. Nested patterns, in principle, should express these same two features and one more: the presence of a core of interactions among generalists. We compute the full set of perfectly nested patterns that are possible in an L × L matrix with N interactions representing an ecological network of L plants and L animals, and point out that the number of nested arrangements grows exponentially with N. In addition, we analyse asymmetry for the full set of perfectly nested patterns, and identify extremes of asymmetry inside the universe of nested patterns. The minimal asymmetry is marked by a modular core of interactions between species that are neither specialists nor generalists. On the other hand, the case of maximal asymmetry is formed by a set of few generalists and many specialists with equal connectivity. The stereotypic case of nestedness with a core of interactions among generalists has intermediate asymmetry.

Optimal Hedging Strategies of Stock Index Futures Based on the Perspective of Information asymmetry

Based on two different risk measurement criteria, this article studied the optimal hedging strategies of stock index futures in the case of asymmetric information, and discussed the influence of insider information on the hedging effect. Through simulation analysis, it can be shown that hedging people with insider information can save hedging costs to a certain extent, which also explains the reason why investors try to obtain corporate information in actual investment activities.

Voluntary disclosures and peer-to-peer lending decisions:Evidence from the repeated game

This study investigates the effect of voluntary disclosures on lending decisions in the repeated game.Using a unique dataset from a peer-to-peer lending platform,"ppdai" (poipaidai),we document that voluntary disclosures in the repeated game play a stronger role in promoting funding success than those in the one-shot game.We argue that voluntary disclosures improve the bidding activity in the repeated game through which they increase funding success.In addition,the greater impact of voluntary disclosures on funding success in the repeated game only holds for loans without a personal guarantee attribution.Our extended results suggest that the subjective voluntary disclosures in the repeated game have greater information content only when borrowers have a successful borrowing experience.We also point out that voluntary disclosures in the repeated game are associated with a lower probability of default.Our results are robust to the Heckman two-step estimation that addresses the self-selection effect and a specification designed to rule out the alternative explanation from reputation in the repeated game.Our study provides new insights into the real effects of costless,voluntary and unverifiable disclosures on lending decisions.
