Hydroelastic interaction between water waves and a thin elastic plate of arbitrary geometry

An analytical method is developed for the hydroelastic interaction between surface incident waves and a thin elastic plate of arbitrary geometry floating on an inviscid fluid of finite depth in the framework of linear potential *** kinds of edge conditions are considered and the corresponding analytical representations are derived in the polar coordinate *** to the surface boundary conditions,the fluid domain is divided into two regions,namely,an open water region and a plate-covered *** the assumption that all the motion is time-harmonic,the series solutions for the spatial velocity potentials are derived by the method of eigenfunction *** matching conditions for the continuities of the velocity and pressure are transformed by taking the inner products successively with respect to the vertical eigenfunction for the free surface and the angular eigenfunction.A system of simultaneous equations,including two edge conditions and two matching conditions,is set up for deriving the expansion *** an example,numerical computation for the expansion coefficients of truncated series is performed for an elliptic *** results show that the method suggested here is useful to revealing the physical features of the gravity wave scattering in the open water and the hydroelastic response in the plate.

Application of material-mesh algebraic collapsing acceleration technique in method of characteristics——based neutron transport code

The algebraic collapsing acceleration(ACA)technique maximizes the use of geometric flexibility of the method of characteristics(MOC).The spatial grids for loworder ACA are the same as the high-order transport,which makes the numerical solution of ACA equations costly,especially for large-size *** speed-up the MOC transport iterations effectively for general geometry,a coarse-mesh ACA method that involves selectively merging fine-mesh cells with identical materials,called material-mesh ACA(MMACA),is *** energy group batching(EGB)strategy in the tracing process is proposed to increase the parallel efficiency for microscopic crosssection *** and macroscopic crosssection benchmark problems are used to validate and analyse the accuracy and efficiency of the MMACA *** maximum errors in the multiplication factor and pin power distributions are from the VERA-4 B-2 D case with silver-indium-cadmium(AIC)control rods inserted and are 104 pcm and 1.97%,*** with the single-thread ACA solution,the maximum speed-up ratio reached 25 on 12 CPU cores for microscopic cross-section VERA-4-2 D *** the C5 G7-2 D and LRA-2 D benchmarks,the MMACA method can reduce the computation time by approximately one *** present work proposes the MMACA method and demonstrates its ability to effectively accelerate MOC transport iterations.

Design of two dimensional nonsingular internal-external cloaks with arbitrary cross-section

According to the combination of the complementary medium and transformation optics, the shape of two-dimensional (2D) internal-external cloaks has been generalized into any geometry to adapt to the variety of object shapes. In order to adapt to the practical application, some approximations have been introduced to eliminate the infinite singularity of the parameters in the compressed region by adjusting the principle sketch out of the plane. Firstly, the general parameter equations of the nonsingular cloak with arbitrary cross-section are deduced strictly by the mathematical method based on coordinate transformations in the cylindrical coordinate system. Secondly, taking into account the discontinuous property of the curve functions of arbitrary polygons, a supplementary investigation is given for the nonsingular cloak with arbitrary polygonal cross-section. The transformations in the supplementary study are carried out in the Cartesian coordinate system directly and referred to the coordinates of the polygon's vertices rather than the curve function of the polygon. Last, the invisibility effect of the corresponding cloak is studied by full-wave simulations based on the finite element method. The applicable scope of the 2D internal-external cloak is expanded greatly by the methods and results given in this paper.
