Relationship between primary caregivers’social support function,anxiety,and depression after interventional therapy for acute myocardial infarction patients

BACKGROUND An acute myocardial infarction(AMI)is often treated with direct coronary intervention and requires home-based rehabilitation.Caregivers of patients with AMI need adequate social support to maintain high-quality care;however,their social support function is low,and relevant indicators for intervention must be identified.AIM To analyze the correlation between social support for primary caregivers,their anxiety,and depression,when caring for patients with AMI after interventional therapy.METHODS Using convenience sampling,we selected 300 primary caregivers of patients with AMI who had undergone interventional therapy.The Social Support Rating Scale(SSRS),Self-Rating anxiety Scale(SAS),and Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS)were used to assess the primary caregivers.A Pearson’s correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlations between the SSRS,SAS,and SDS,and a multiple logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the factors influencing the low social support function of primary caregivers.The receiver operating characteristic curve and area under the curve(AUC)were used to evaluate the predictive ability of the SAS and SDS for low social support function in primary caregivers.RESULTS Considering the norm among Chinese people,AMI caregivers’objective support,subjective support,support utilization,and SSRS scores were lower,while their SAS and SDS scores were higher.The SSRS scores of female caregivers were higher than those of the male caregivers(t=2.123,P=0.035).The Pearson correlation analysis showed that objective support,subjective support,support utilization,and SSRS total scores were significantly correlated with both SAS(r=-0.414,-0.460,-0.416,-0.535)and SDS scores(r=-0.463,-0.379,-0.349,-0.472).Among the 300 AMI caregivers,56 cases(18.67%)had a low level of support function(SSRS≤22 points).Logistic regression model analysis showed that SAS and SDS were independent risk factors for low social support function of AMI caregivers,regardless of adjustment for other variables(P<0.05).SAS and S

Effect of anxiety and depression on the recurrence of persistent atrial fibrillation after circumferential pulmonary vein ablation

Background The effects of anxiety and depression on the recurrence of persistent atrial fibrillation （AF） after circumferential pulmonary vein ablation （CPVA） are not clear. Whether CPVA can alleviate the anxiety and depression symptoms of persistent AF patients is unknown. Methods One hundred and sixty-four patients with persistent AF, of which 43 treated with CPVA （CPVA group） and 103 treated with anti-arrhythmics drugs （medicine group）, were enrolled. The Zung Self-Rating anxiety Scale （SAS）, and Zung Self-Rating Depression Scale （SDS） were assessed before and 12 months after treatment in all patients. Results The scores of SAS （40.33±7.90 vs. 49.76±9.52, P 〈0.01） and SDS （42.33±8.73 vs. 48.17±8.77, P 〈0.01） decreased 12 months after CPVA. Over 12 months follow-up, AF relapsed in 17 patients in CPVA group. Compared with the data in the recurrent group （17 patients）, the scores of SAS and SDS were significantly lower in the non-recurrent group （26 patients） at baseline. The results of multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed normal scores of SAS and SDS were the independent risk factors of AF recurrence after CPVA. Conclusions anxiety and depression increase the recurrence risk of persistent AF after CPVA. CPVA can ameliorate the anxiety and depression symptoms in patients with persistent AF.

Factors influencing postoperative anxiety and depression following Iodine-131 treatment in patients with differentiated thyroid cancer:A cross-sectional study

BACKGROUND Differentiated thyroid cancer(DTC)often seriously impacts patients’lives.Radionuclide Iodine-131(131I)is widely used in treating patients with DTC.However,most patients know little about radionuclide therapy,and the treatment needs to be performed in a special isolation ward,which can cause anxiety and depression.AIM To explore anxiety and depression status and their influencing factors after 131I treatment in patients with DTC.METHODS A questionnaire survey was conducted among postoperative patients with DTC who received 131I treatment at our hospital from June 2020 to December 2022.General patient data were collected using a self-administered demographic characteristics questionnaire.The self-rating depression scale and self-rating anxiety scale were used to determine whether patients were worried about their symptoms and the degree of anxiety and depression.The patients were categorized into anxiety,non-anxiety,depression,and non-depression groups.Singlevariable and multiple-variable analyses were used to determine the risk factors for anxiety and depression in patients with thyroid cancer after surgery.RESULTS A total of 144 patients were included in this study.The baseline mean score of self-rating anxiety and depression scales were 50.06±16.10 and 50.96±16.55,respectively.Notably,48.62%(70/144)had anxiety and 47.22%(68/144)of the patients had depression.Sex,age,education level,marital status,household income,underlying diseases,and medication compliance significantly differed among groups(Panxiety(P=0.015,0.001,and 0.001 respectively).Patient’s sex,marital status,and underlying diseases affected depression(P=0.007,0.001,and 0.009,respectively).CONCLUSION Nursing interventions aiming at reducing the risk of anxiety and depression should target unmarried female patients with low education level,low family income,underlying diseases,and

BACKGROUND Studies have shown that sleep disorders are closely related to anxiety and depression,and the quality of life(QoL)of patients with sleep disorders is generally poor.AIM To examine the occurrence of sleep disorders in people with coronary heart disease(CHD)and their relationships with QoL,depression,and anxiety.METHODS As per the sleep condition,240 CHD individuals were separated into two groups:non-sleep disorder group(n=128)and sleep disorder group(n=112).The selfrating anxiety scale(SAS),self-rating depression scale(SDS),and World Health Organization criteria for the Quality of Life Brief scale(WHOQOL-BREF)scores of the two groups were compared.Logistic regression method was used to analyze the independent risk factors of CHD patients with sleep disorders.Multivariate logistic regression analysis was employed to develop the risk prediction model.The association among the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index,SAS,and SDS was examined using Spearman’s correlation analysis.RESULTS The incidence of sleep disorder was 46.67%in 240 patients.The scores of SAS and SDS in the sleep disorder group were higher than those in the non-sleep disorder group,and the WHOQOL-BREF scores were lower than those in the non-sleep disorder group(Panxiety)+2.157×depression)].The results of a Spearman’s correlation study revealed that sleep quality was strongly adversely connected with the physiological field,psychological field,and social relation scores in QoL,and was considerably positively correlated with SAS and SDS(Panxiety.

Influence of physical education on anxiety, depression, and selfesteem among college students

BACKGROUND Physical education is pivotal in our country’s education reform.Urban schools have notably enhanced the intensity of physical education in recent years.However,the effects of physical education on students'anxiety,depression,and self-esteem levels,as well as their interrelations,remain unexplored.Compared with the domestic norms,SAS and SDS scores were higher,and SES scores were lower(Panxiety,depression,and low self-esteem(Panxiety,depression,and low self-esteem were 0.805(0.760-0.849),0.799(0.755-0.843),and 0.831(0.788-0.874),respectively.The sensitivities were 0.799,0.801,and 0.748,and the specificities were 0.743,0.716,and 0.814,respectively.PARS-3 was negatively correlated with SAS and SDS scores(r=-0.566,-0.621,both Panxiety and depression degree and positively correlated with self-esteem degree.

The impact of sleep quality on reported anxiety and fatigue among shift nurses: The mediating role of resilience

Aims:The aim of this article is to explore the relation of sleep quality,anxiety status,fatigue level and psychological resilience among rotating‑shift nurses,thus,to propose solutions and promote physical and psychological health of shift nurses.Methods:The cross‑sectional survey was performed on 263 clinical nurses recruited from three tertiary hospitals of Xinxiang City,Henan Province,China from October 2017 to June 2018.The questionnaire survey was conducted using Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)for measuring nurses’sleep quality,connor‑davidson resilience scale(CD‑RISC)for measuring their psychological resilience,self‑rating anxiety scale(SAS)for measuring their anxiety status,and Fatigue‑14 Scale for measuring their fatigue.The relationship among above indicators were analysed using Pearson correlation analysis.The mediating effect of psychological resilience on the process of sleep quality impacting anxiety and fatigue was analyzed using Wen’s causual steps method and linear regression.Results:The mean CD‑RISC score of shift nurses was 57.76±11.90,which indicated that resilience level was at a medium level.The mean of PSQI,SAS and total fatigue score was(7.53±2.83),(50.56±9.57)and(7.81±9.42),respectively.Resilience could negatively predict the anxiety state(β=−0.366,Panxiety(β=0.395,Panxiety or fatigue was 0.044 and 0.026,respectively.Conclusion:The resilience could fuel sleep quality and reduce the occurrence of negative emotion and fatigue among shift nurses.

Efficacy and risk factors for anxiety and depression after miniincision hip arthroplasty for femoral head osteonecrosis

BACKGROUND Osteonecrosis of the femoral head(ONFH)is a prevalent orthopedic issue,leading to the collapse and fragmentation of the femoral head in its advanced stages,which can severely impair patients'quality of life.Total hip arthroplasty(THA)is a clinical intervention frequently used to alleviate ONFH symptoms and reinstate hip functionality.The conventional surgical technique is invasive and comes with an extended recuperation period,posing significant challenges for patients.With the progression of medical technology,the use of the mini-incision technique in minimally invasive THA(MITHA)has become more prevalent.However,comparative studies examining the effectiveness of these two surgical procedures in treating ONFH remain scarce.Furthermore,understanding patients'psychological well-being is crucial given its profound influence on postoperative recuperation.AIM To evaluate the impact of mini-incision MITHA on ONFH treatment and to identify the risk factors associated with postoperative anxiety and depression.METHODS A retrospective study was conducted on 125 patients treated for ONFH at Xi’an Hong Hui Hospital between February 2020 and January 2022,with the term"consecutive"indicating that these patients were treated in an unbroken sequence without any selection.Among these,60 patients(control group)underwent traditional THA,while 65 patients(observation group)were treated with miniincision MITHA.Variations in the visual analog scale(VAS)score and the Harris hip score were monitored.Additionally,shifts in pre-and posttreatment Hamilton anxiety(HAMA)and Hamilton depression(HAMD)scale scores were recorded.Patients with both postoperative HAMA and HAMD scores of≥8 were identified as those experiencing negative emotions.Logistic regression was utilized to analyze the determinants influencing these negative emotional outcomes.Comparative analyses of surgical and postoperative metrics between the two groups were also conducted.RESULTS Posttreatment results indicated a significantly higher VAS score in the control

Status quo and factors of depression and anxiety in patients with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer after plasma electrocision

BACKGROUND Bladder cancer is a type of cancer with a high incidence in men.Plasma electrosurgery(PES)is often used in the treatment of bladder cancer.Postoperative complications often cause depression and anxiety in patients after surgery.AIM To investigate the current state of depression and anxiety after PES in patients with non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer and analyze the factors affecting them.METHODS A retrospective study was conducted to compare the baseline data of patients by collecting their medical history and grouping them according to their mental status into negative and normal groups.Logistic regression analysis was used to explore the risk factors affecting the occurrence of anxiety and depression after surgery in patients with bladder cancer.RESULTS Comparative analyses of baseline differences showed that the patients in the negative and normal groups differed in terms of their first surgery,economic status,educational level,and marital status.A logistic regression analysis showed that it affected the occurrence of anxiety in patients with bladder cancer,and the results showed that whether the risk factors were whether or not it was the first surgery,monthly income between 3000 and 3000-6000,secondary or junior high school education level,single,divorced,and widowed statuses.CONCLUSION The risk factors affecting the onset of anxiety and depression in bladder cancer patients after PES are the number of surgeries,economic status,level of education,and marital status.This study provides a reference for the clinical treatment and prognosis of bladder cancer patients in the future.

Effects of mindfulness meditation on anxiety, depression, stress, and mindfulness in nursing students: a meta-analysis and trial sequential analysis of randomized controlled trials

Objective:The aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of mindfulness meditation(MM)on anxiety,depression,stress and mindfulness in nursing students.Methods:A comprehensive search and screening procedures were conducted to locate all MM interventions implemented with nursing students.For randomized controlled trials(RCTs)in accordance with the inclusion criteria,a search was conducted in PubMed,Embase,Web of Science,Medline,PsycINFO,Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health(CINAHL),Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials(CENTRAL),China Biology Medicine(CBM),Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI)and Wanfang.Databases were retrieved from inception through August 2018.Additional studies were identified through hand searches and Internet searches.Two reviewers collected relevant data of eligible articles according to the data extraction tables.Based on Cochrane Handbook,critical appraisal of the methodological quality was assessed by two other reviewers.An Excel form was used to extract main characteristics of included RCTs.Meta-analysis and trial sequential analysis(TSA)were carried out using software RevMan 5.3 and TSA 0.9.Results:Five RCTs with 257 nursing students were included.Only two studies were assessed as high quality and three studies were evaluated as moderate quality.Meta-analysis showed that,comparing with the control group,MM could significantly improve anxiety(SMD=?0.45,95%CI?0.73 to?0.17,P=0.001)and stress(SMD=?0.69,95%CI?0.97 to?0.40,P<0.001).TSA results confirmed that the outcome of the merger is credible.It could also significantly improve depression level of nursing students after 8 weeks intervention duration(SMD=?0.70,95%CI?1.14 to?0.26,P=0.002).However,there was no beneficial effect on depression level of nursing students with 1 week intervention duration(SMD=0.09,95%CI?0.42 to 0.59,P=0.74)and its effects on mindfulness level of nursing students also did not show statistical significance(SMD=0.37,95%CI?0.04 to 0.77,P=0.07).No definitive conclusions were drawn from
