A simple and sensitive spectrofluorimetric procedure for the analysis ofmicroquantities of gallium in alloy was described. The method is based on the formation ofGa(III)-CCA (calon-carboxylic acid) complex. The emission of the fluorescent complex was measured atlambda = 620 nm with excitation at lambda = 584 nm. A good linearity was found in the gallium rangeof 0.7-280 ng/mL. The precision of the method is good and the relative standard deviation is 1.9percent for a gallium standard solution of 70 ng/mL. The procedure was proved to be suitable interms of accuracy and selectivity for the microamount of gallium in alloy.

The influence of holding time and distance from sample bottom on segregation and grain refinement of Ti was studied. Results show that Al-STi-IB has an obvious effect on refinement in AI-Si alloy after 4 h holding time. The segregation of Ti shows different morphology at different positions of casting. More segregation is at the bottom of castings because of localized congregation of Ti. The research shows that the difference in Ti concentration is as high as 25.6% between the top and bottom of castings.

The microstructures and properties of A1-45%Si alloy prepared by liquid-solid separation （LSS） process and spray deposition （SD） were studied. The results show that the size, shape and distribution of the primary Si phase have different influence on the properties of alloys. Comparing with the Si particles with irregular shape, fine size and continuous distribution in SD alloy, the primary Si phase in LSS alloy is sphere-like, coarse and surrounded by the continuous AI matrix. The microstructure features of LSS alloy are beneficial to the higher thermal conductivity and lower thermal expansion coefficient at room temperature. The fine Si particle in SD alloy is advantageous to improving the mechanical properties. The increasing rates of thermal expansion coefficient with temperature are influenced by the distribution of the Si particles, where a lower rate is obtained in SD alloy with continuous Si particles. The agreement of thermal expansion coefficient with the model in LSS alloy differs from that in the SD alloy because of the different microstructure characteristics.

Fused magnesium aluminate spinel carbon materials were prepared using fused magnesium aluminate spinel and flake graphite as the main raw materials and phenolic resin as the *** effects of the Al-Si alloy addition(0,2%,4%,6%,8%and 10%,by mass)on the properties of fused magnesium aluminate spinel carbon materials were *** results show that fiber materials are generated in the samples with Al-Si alloy addition,which can significantly improve the cold and hot modulus of rupture,the cold elastic modulus,and the thermal shock resistance of the *** the addition of Al-Si alloy is 6%-8%,the comprehensive performance of the sample is the optimum.
