Multi-Time-Scale Variational Mode Decomposition-Based Robust Fault Diagnosis of Railway Point Machines Under Multiple Noises

The fault diagnosis of railway point machines(RPMs) has attracted the attention of engineers and researchers.Seldom have studies considered diverse noises along the track.To fulfill this aspect,a multi-time-scale variational mode decomposition(MTSVMD) is proposed in this paper to realize the accurate and robust fault diagnosis of RPMs under multiple noises.MTSVMD decomposes condition monitoring signals after coarse-grained processing in varying degrees.In this manner,the information contained in the signal components at multiple time scales can construct a more abundant feature space than at a single scale.In the experimental validation,a random position,random type,random number,and random length(4R) noise-adding algorithm helps to verify the robustness of the approach.The adequate experimental results demoristrate the superiority of the proposed MTSVMD-based fault diagnosis.

Neutron irradiation-induced effects on the reliability performance of electrochemical metallization memory devices

In this work,electrochemical metallization memory(ECM)devices with an Ag/AgInSbTe(AIST)/amorphous carbon(a-C)/Pt structure were irradiated with 14 MeV neutrons.The switching reliability performance before and after neutron irradiation was compared and analyzed in detail.The results show that the irradiated memory cells functioned properly,and the initial resistance,the resistance at the low-resistance state(LRS),the RESET voltage and the data retention performance showed little degradation even when the total neutron fluence was as high as 2.5×1011 n/cm2.Other switching characteristics such as the forming voltage,the resistance at the high-resistance state(HRS),and the SET voltage were also studied,all of which merely showed a slight parameter drift.Irradiation-induced Ag ions doping of the a-C layer is proposed to explain the damaging effects of neutron irradiation.The excellent hard characteristics of these Ag/AIST/a-C/Pt-based ECM devices suggest potential beneficial applications in the aerospace and nuclear industries.

Adaptive Nonsingular Terminal Sliding Mode Control Design for Near Space Hypersonic Vehicles

This paper presents an adaptive nonsingular terminal sliding mode approach for the attitude control of near space hypersonic vehicles(NSHV) in the presence of parameter uncertainties and external disturbances. Firstly, a novel nonsingular terminal sliding surface is developed and its finitetime convergence is analyzed. Then, an adaptive nonsingular terminal sliding mode control law is proposed, which is chattering free. In the proposed approach, all parameter uncertainties and external disturbances are lumped into one term, which is estimated by an adaptive uncertainty estimation for eliminating the boundary requirement needed in the conventional control design. Subsequently, stability of the closed-loop system is proven based on Lyapunov theory. Finally, the proposed approach is applied to the attitude control design for NSHV. Simulation results show that the proposed approach attains a satisfactory performance in the presence of parameter uncertainties and external disturbances.

In Air Traffic Control extensive use is planned of data links. One of the major candidates is the data link capability of SSR mode S.The data link capability of SSR mode S however is rather limited when using conventional rotating antennas with a short and fixed time-on-target,and a long time interval between two successive beam scans.This results in a high access delay and too long transaction times for long messages consisting of several ELM frames. The paper presents a method for the analysis of the cause of reply losses,and then discusses a novel approach to the data link’s short comings,while maintaining the surveillance capability:the substitution of a number of interrogators with a rotating antenna by a distributed network of(listen-only)SSR mode S ground system receivers and a transmitter. The results show that the mode S transponders suffer from a high reply loss,by occupancy due to mode A/C interrogations, and shows that the novel approach offers adequate data link performance while maintaining the reply loss numbers at an acceptable low probability.
