admiration and Doubt—Comparing Crossing Brooklyn Ferry and To Brooklyn Bridge

American poet, Walt Whitman and Harold Hart Crane both write poems about the place connecting Brooklyn and Manhattan, in Crossing Brooklyn Ferry and To Brooklyn Bridge respectively. By comparing the similarities of these two poems, this paper analyses the two poets’ attitudes towards the development of modern society, finding that both poets not only show admiration for modern society but also doubt about the fast development. It aims to reveal the influence of fast development of modern society on people’s mentality.

Leaders praise subordinates everywhere in the workplace,and for third-party employees,observing that colleagues being greatly praised by their leaders often respond *** on cognitive appraisal theory,we propose that the observer’s emotions and behavioral responses to witness a colleague being greatly praised by a leader depends on the perceived goal competitiveness between the observer and the praised ***,when the perceived goal competitiveness is high or significant,observing that a colleague being greatly praised is positively correlated with the observer’s envy emotion,which increases their unethical behaviors toward the praised ***,when the perceived goal competitiveness is low,observing that a colleague being greatly praised is positively correlated with the observer’s admiration emotion,which increases their learning behaviors toward the praised *** from a lab experiment and a two-wave survey support these hypotheses,and we discuss the theoretical and practical implications of these findings.

THE US TRANSURANIUM AND URANIUM REGISTRIES (USTUR): A FIVE-DECADE FOLLOWUP OF PLUTONIUM AND URANIUM WORKERS

Abstract:Dedication: The research of the US Transuranium and Uranium Registries relies heavily upon postmortem autopsy findings and radiochemical analysis of tissues. The enormous debt owed to those now-deceased registrants who unselfishly voluntarily participated in the US Transuranium and Uranium Registries program through postmortem donation of their tissues and to those stillliving registrants who have volunteered to be future postmortem tissue donors is hereby acknowledged with gratitude. The scientific findings derived from postmortem analysis of these tissues have been instrumental in advancing our understanding of the actinide elements in humans and have led to refinement, validation, and confidence in safety standards for those who work with these elements as well as for the general public. To these generous and anonymous persons who made this ultimate contribution, this paper is dedicated with great thanks and admiration.
