Single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)are rapidly becoming the genetic markers of choice in studies of ecology,evolution and conservation of natural populations because of their high capacity to access variability across the *** the present study,a total of 140 ideal SNPs were isolated from the finless porpoise genome to conduct an evolutionary and conservation study especially for addressing population genetic structure and adaptive differentiation of this *** clustering and PCA analyses all suggested that finless porpoises in Chinese waters could be divided into three distinct genetic groupings,with some individual admixture in the overlapped distribution *** provided some support either for a subdivision of three geographical populations /subspecies for the finless porpoise,or for an identification of two species recently suggested for the two finless porpoise forms overlapping in the Taiwan *** levels of within-population genetic variation(mean HE = 0.3525,SD = 0.1188)and significant differentiation among populations(FST values ranging from 0.0727 to 0.1358,Padaptive divergence of freshwater porpoises with their marine counterparts,in combination with its unique distribution in the freshwater Yangtze

Drought is one of the most harmful abiotic stresses to rice *** is very urgent for us to improve water-saving and drought-resistant characters in ***,the knowledge of evolution of drought-resistance in rice is *** this study,upland rice and lowland rice,two important rice ecotypes adapted to contrasting soil water conditions,were involved to investigated the evolution of drought-resistance during their *** outlier loci were detected between upland and lowland *** upland-lowland rice differentiation on these outlier loci were found in japonica(Fst=0.258) and indica(Fst= 0.127) *** selections on drought-resistant traits was revealed by higher Qst of drought-resistant traits than the neutral Fst between upland and lowland ***,the genetic distance matrix from outlier loci were significantly correlated with that from differentiated drought-resistant traits,suggesting that upland-lowland rice differentiation was driven by divergent selections on *** upland-and lowland-specific alleles responded differently between ecotypes or allelic types when encountering osmotic stress,showing signs of drought-resistance evolution at expression *** is noteworthy the drought resistance could be independently evolved in japonica and *** conclusion,genetic differentiation of upland and lowland rice was associated with divergent selections on drought-related *** findings could strengthen our understanding of the drought resistance evolution in rice with implications in rice drought-resistance improvement.
