Background: AIDS(acquired immunodeficiency syndrome) patients characteristically display systemic CD4 T-cell depletion and chronic immune activation, resulting in an ineffective cell-mediated and humoral response to hiv-1 *** between T follicular helper(Tfh) cells and germinal center B cells are essential for the differentiation and subsequent antibody responses of B ***, the extent to which hiv-1 infection affects the dynamic interplay between the two cell populations remains *** investigated the immunophenotypes of Tfh cells and B cells in individuals with acute and chronic hiv-1 ***: Study subjects used in this study were enrolled from the Beijing PRIMO clinical Cohort, a prospective study cohort of hiv-1-negative MSM to identify AHI at Beijing You’an hospital.26 acute hiv-1 infection(AHI) and 26 chronic hiv-1 infection(CHI) patients were recruited *** AHI individuals belonged were classified as having Fiebig stage Ⅲ-Ⅵ disease after the diagnosis of hiv-1 *** of the subjects studied received antiretroviral therapy at either the acute or chronic *** and functional characterization of Tfh-cell and B-cell subsets were analyzed by the multicolor flow ***: Our dissection of the changes in Tfh-cell and B-cell subsets in peripheral blood revealed a positive correlation between plasmablasts and Tfh cells in patients with acute and chronic hiv infection, whereas no correlation was found for other descendants of B cells in either set of ***: These findings have potential implications for the regulation of humoral homoeostasis during hiv-1 infection and may guide the design of efficient strategies for restoring immunity in hiv-infected patients.
