Otogenic vertigo is a common disorder that affects the vestibular system,which often results in considerable discomfort and impaired daily *** Chinese medicine(TCM),including acupuncture and moxibustion,has been historically utilized to manage the symptoms of ***,the effectiveness and methodology of these treatments have rarely been investigated in the medical *** study reviews the existing literature on the point selection,method,and therapeutic effect of acupuncture and moxibustion to provide a reference for the TCM treatment of otogenic vertigo.A literature search was performed using the PubMed search *** terms used included otogenic vertigo,acupuncture treatment,and acupuncture point selection.A total of 34 relevant articles were retrieved from *** suggest that the clinical treatment of otogenic vertigo should consider the functions of zang-fu organs and meridians and select different acupuncture treatment methods according to syndrome differentiation based on the difference between deficiency and *** and moxibustion therapy should be based on acupoint selection,considering the syndrome differentiation,supplemented with *** treatment of otogenic vertigo with acupuncture and moxibustion refers to the selection of appropriate acupuncture methods under the guidance of TCM theory and following the principles of syndrome,disease,and meridian *** acupuncture methods include body acupuncture,auricular acupuncture,scalp acupuncture,acupoint injection,electroacupuncture,and *** are many acupuncture and moxibustion acupoints selected for the treatment of otogenic *** treatment according to the patient’s specific condition is effective and safe,which can help to improve the patient’s vertigo symptoms and cerebral blood perfusion.

acupuncture treatment on 31 cases of obsolete lateral malleolus joint sprain

Objective To observe the clinical effect of acupuncture on the obsolete lateral malleolus joint sprain. Methods Thirty-one cases of patients with obsolete lateral malleolus joint sprain were selected. Jiexi （解溪 ST 41） were penetrated to Shenmei （申脉 BL 61）, and Yanglingquan （阳陵泉 GB 34） was applied. The needles were retained for 30 min, and the treatment was performed only once, with follow-up visit after 1 month. Results All the patients were cured after treatment, and without relapse on the follow-up visit after 1 month. Conclusion The clinical effect of acupuncture on the obsolete lateral malleolus joint sprain is remarkable.

For investigating the effect of acupuncture on ischemic arrhythmia and its mech-anism, adult albino rats with ligated anterior descending branch of coronary artery as experimentalmodel were treated with or without acupuncture, and others with imitative operation but without bothcoronary artery ligation and acupuncture treatment were used as control. It was found in acupuncturegroup that the fibrillation-liability of ischemic myocardium was efficiently decreased, the affinity ofAch-M receptors on membranes of ischemic myocardium was markedly increased, and the tolerance ofischemic myocardium to atropine was elevated in the experiment of atropine inducing *** results indicate that acupuncture may play a therapeutic role on ischemic arrhythmia throughactivating the activity of muscarine-like receptors of cholinergic nervous system.

Sixty-eight Cases of Child Chronic Cough Treated by Moxibustion

Objective: To observe the therapeutic effects of moxibustion for chronic cough in children. Methods: 68 child cases of chronic cough were treated by moxibustion. Results: 54 cases were cured, 13 cases improved, and one case failed. The cure rate was 79.2%, with a total effective rate of 98.5%. Conclusion: The moxibustion therapy has definite therapeutic effect for children chronic cough.

Observation on the Curative Effect of"Hand and Foot 12 Needle acupuncture"on Stroke in Convalescent Period of Phlegm-Dampness Constitution

Objective:To observe the clinical effects of"hand and foot 12 needle acupuncture"on stroke in convalescent period of phlegm-dampness ***:The 90 patients were divided into the treatment group(n=45)and the control group(n=45)according to the random number table *** control group received basic Western medicine treatment+rehabilitation treatment of Western medicine,and the treatment group was additively treated with"hand and foot 12 needle acupuncture"on the basis of the control *** score,MRS score and Barthel index(BI)before and after treatment were observed in the two groups,and the clinical efficacy of the two groups was ***:The clinical efficacy of stroke patients in the convalescent period of phlegm-dampness constitution after treatment:the total effective rate of the treatment group was 93.33%,and the total effective rate of the control group was 66.67%.After statistical processing,the clinical efficacy of the treatment group was significantly better than the control group;NIHSS score,MRS score and Barthel index(BI)were better than the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(Pacupuncture"treatment of phlegm-dampness constitution convalescent stroke clinical effect is remarkable.

Serum level changes of insulin-like growth factor-1 and amino acids in children with cerebral palsy following functional exercise plus head acupuncture therapy

BACKGROUND： In the past few years, there were many studies about the pathophysiology of insulin-like growth factor-1 （IGF-1）, as well as glutamic acid （GLU） and γ-aminobutyric acid （GABA） in hypoxic-ischemic brain damage （HIBD）. IGF-1 plays a protective role in brain damage. The over release of excitatory amino acids （EAA） plays an important role in acute neuronal death, which delays neuronal death. The disproportion of increasing of excitatory and inhibitory amino acids can cause different extent HIBD. However, there is rare report about the change of IGF-1 and neurotransmitter level in serum of cerebral palsy （CP） children. OBJECTIVE ： To observe the levels of serum IGF-1, GABA and GLU before and after functional exercise plus head acupuncture therapy and single functional exercise, then study the effective mechanism of IGF-1, GABA and GLU in the occurrence and development of CP, and compare those with normal control group. DESIGN： Case-control study SETTING： College of Rehabilitation Medicine, Jiamusi University, Prevention and treatment Center of Child Cerebral Palsy in Heilongjiang Province. PARTICIPANTS： CP group： Sixty CP children came from Prevention and treatment Center of Child Cerebra Palsy in Heilongjiang Province between April 2005 and March 2006 were selected in this study. All the cases were consistent with the diagnostic criteria and the type of cerebral palsy and finally diagnosed with CT and MRI examinations. There were 35 males and 25 females aged from 8 months to 4 years with the mean age o （2.0±0.5） years. And then, they were randomly divided into two groups. Twenty-six cases were received functional exercise, and the other 34 cases were treated with functional exercise and head acupuncture. Contro group： Thirty healthy children were from kindergarten and community for health examination in June 2005 There were 15 males and 15 females aged from 8 month to 4 years with the mean age of （2.0±0.5） years.
