Transcriptional regulators play crucial roles in modulation of virulence factor production in *** this study,we have characterized a SlyA/MarR family transcription factor SlyA in Dickeya zeae strain EC1,the causal agent of rice root rot ***-frame deletion of slyA significantly decreased the production of phytotoxinzeamines,changed the expression patterns of cell wall degrading enzymes,enhanced bacterial motility,reduced biofilm formation,and attenuated the pathogenicityof strain EC1 on host *** analysis showed that SlyA modulates the expression of about 25%of the genome,including the genes encoding various pathogenesis-related proteins,five types of secretion systems and quorum sensing *** addition,based on the transcriptome data,we explored the regulatory pathway of *** results showed that in trans expressionof slyA in the AHL QS mutant expIrecovered the phenotypes of motility and biofilm formation,and in trans expressionof a newly identified regulator genein the slyA mutant rescued the phenotypes of zeamines and the production of cell wall degrading *** together,the findings from this study unveiled a key transcriptional regulatory network involved in modulation of virulence factor production and overall pathogenicity of *** EC1.
