AIM： To determine the effectiveness of yoga on improving the quality of life in patients of chronic pancreatitis. METHODS： The patients were randomized to two groups. The control group continued their usual care as directed by their physicians. Patients in the yoga group, in addition, received biweekly yoga sessions for 12 wk. The patients＇ demographic and health behaviour variables were assessed before and alter the yoga programme using Medical Outcomes Short Form （SF-36） for quality of life, Profile of Mood States for assessing mood and Symptoms of Stress Inventory for measuring stress. RESULTS： A total of 60 patients were enrolled, with 8 *** patients were randomized to the yoga group and 30 to the control group. Significant improvements were seen in overall quality of life, symptoms of stress, mood changes, alcohol dependence and appetite alter the 12 wk period apart from the general feeling of well-being and desire to continue with the programme in future in the yoga group, while there was no difference in the control group. CONCLUSION： yoga is effective on improving the quality of life in patients of chronic pancreatitis.

Metabolic syndrome(MS)is associated with a sedentary and stressful lifestyle and affects underactive people *** is considered to be a low-impact mind-body stress-relieving exercise,and researchers are increasing their focus on the benefits of yoga for managing metabolic *** is also important for physicians and health care professionals to understand the therapeutic efficacy of yoga intervention,in terms of its type,duration and frequency on various MS risk *** present review summarizes the current scientific understanding of the effects of yoga on MS risk factors such as glucose homeostasis markers,lipid profile,adipocytokines and cardiovascular risk factors,and discusses the possible mechanisms of ***,Pub Med,Scopus and Cochrane Library were searched from their inception up to December 2019,using the keywords“metabolic syndrome,”“diabetes,”“cardiovascular diseases,”“obesity”and“yoga.”The literature summarized in this review have shown mixed effects of yoga on MS risk factors and do not provide robust evidence for its *** rigorous research and well-designed trials that have a higher standard of methodology and evaluate yoga's long-term impacts on MS are *** yoga's biochemical and molecular mechanisms of action on various metabolic pathways is also needed.

The study proposes to explore two alternative medicine therapies--qigong and yoga for balanc- ing the essential duo of holistic mind-body and consequently offer a solution for stress, uncertainty, anxiety and depression. Qualitative research methods have been used to create a conceptual synthesis of yoga and qigong. It is suggested that an increased sense of control is the interface between these two modalitieso This conceptual congruence of qigong and yoga is thought to be a selective, curative method, a prescription for ideal living and a ground of human essence existence. Furthermore, this essence is thought to enhance the mind＇s self-regulatory processes and prevent mental health disorders. The two alternative therapies can prevent mental health disorders such as anxiety, depression and, minimize mental health disruptions such as stress and poor quality of life. It is suggested that patients and/or clients can benefit from this fusion.

Objective： yoga is becoming more and more popular in the female society while the concomitant sports injury is seldom mentioned. Many clinicians have noted that yoga may result in knee problems, which though requires more researches to corroborate. This investigation was conducted to ascertain the relationship between yoga and meniscus injury as well as the extent of impairment ac- cording to variant yoga practice periods. Methods： Totally 819 women aged 20-49 years who practiced yoga or other popular sports including badminton, jogging, climbing hills, etc for at least one hour per day were selected to participate in this research. These subjects were required to complete a questionnaire and receive relevant physical examination. Magnetic resonance （MR） scan of the knee was recommended for the suspicioussubjects for ultimate diagnosis. The subject with abnormal meniscus MR signals was defined as a case and matched with two controls in terms of age and body mass index （BMI）. Altogether there were 273 cases and 546 controls. The nested casecontrol model was adopted to assess the risk of meniscus injury between variant exposures in practicing yoga and several other popular sports. Moreover, the 181 yoga subjects were subdivided into three groups according to different exercise durations, followed by further analysis with the variables of age, BMI and Lysholm score. Results： yoga was found associated with a higher risk （P=0.008, 0R=1.621） of meniscus injury compared with badminton, jogging and climbing hills. The three yoga sub- groups showed statistical difference between each other in terms of Lysholm score （P=0.027） and BMI （P=0.003）. The subjects with longer-term yoga practice had lighter weight but lower Lysholm scores. Conclusions： yoga perhaps exerts destructive impact on the meniscus for Chinese women, yet it needs further verifications, Furthermore, the female yoga players with longer exercise duration are more susceptible to meniscus injury though they can

Quality of life and psychological health in the field of competitive sport are emergent research topics,specifically for issues such as sport anxiety and *** the rise of contemplative practices,yoga has started to be used and included as part of athletes' mental *** study aimed to systematically review the literature on the impact of yoga interven-tions on quality of life,performance anxiety and sport performance among healthy elite adult *** on PRISMA guidelines,this systematic review includes articles published up to December *** search strategy was conducted in six databases (PUBMED,EMBASE,PsycINFO,SCOPUS,SportDiscuss and (E)rudit).Screened by two independent researchers,only six of the 37 articles drawn from the search met the preselected inclusion criteria and moved forward to the data extraction *** from six trials of poor quality (M =46.91%,SD =13.39,IRR of 92%) were included in this comprehensive literature search,indicating that elite athletes benefit from yoga interventions (with or without mindful-ness),in terms of changes in performance anxiety M =65% (SD =122.49),sport performance M =7.9% (SD =5.46) and life *** interventions lasted on average 5.7 weeks (SD =2.07).Based on the collected evidence,methodological and measurement limitations of the sport psychology literature should be addressed to improve the replicability of reported ***,this review provides encouraging but limited evidence for the value of yoga interventions in healthy adult ***,the important reporting inconsistencies and theoretical limitations that have been raised highlight the need for trials with greater methodological rigor.
