An analytical model of hot rolling force for a thick plate by combining globally optimal approximation yield criterion and egg-circular velocity field

For the sake of solving the problem that it is difficult to be integrated for the Mises specific plastic power due to its nonlinearity,a new linear criterion,named the globally optimal approximation criterion,is constructed by the polygonal approximation to the Mises *** new criterion is proved to be the linear function of the principal stress componentsσ1,σ2 andσ3 and the trajectory of it on theπ-plane is a non-equiangular but equilateral dodecagon intersecting the Mises *** theoretical results of the current criterion described by the Lode stress parameters are in excellent accordance with the experimental ***,according to the trend that the metallic flow velocity between rollers aggrandizes gradually from the inlet to the outlet during the hot rolling of a thick plate,a biomimetic velocity field is proposed in which the horizontal velocity component fits the egg-circular curve *** velocity field and its simulated results agree quite ***,using the determined linear criterion,energy analysis of the constructed velocity field is utilized to obtain the interior deformation power,while the vector decomposition approach is utilized to obtain the frictional power and shear *** this basis,the overall power is obtained and the analytical solutions are generated for the rolling torque,rolling force and the coefficient of the stress state under different egg curves by minimizing the neutral ***,the parameter optimization of the characteristic parameterρwhich affects the slope of the egg-circular curve is carried out and the best egg-circular curve which can minimize the energy consumption is *** best agreement between the theoretical and observed values of rolling force and rolling torque is under this curve,and the mean relative errors of the rolling torque and rolling force are no more than 2.93%,while the maximum error is no more than 8.35%.

A user-friendly yield criterion for metals exhibiting tension-compression asymmetry

The aim of this paper is to model the yielding asymmetry of pressure-insensitive metals,including but not limited to Ni3 Al *** main focuses are put on the flexibility and manipulative *** parameters of theory are kept to a minimum and can be determined by as few tests as *** requirements are fulfilled by constructing a yield function using the second and third-invariants of a linearly transformed stress *** proposed yield criterion has a simple mathematical form and has only seven parameters when used in three-dimensional *** with existing theories,the new yield criterion has much fewer parameters,which makes it very convenient for practical *** coefficients of the criterion are identified by an error minimization *** to a Ni3 Al based intermetallic alloy as well as a Cu-Al-Be shape memory alloy and comparison to other criteria show that the proposed criterion has nearly the same predictive ability and flexibility with other *** proposed yield criterion can estimate the coefficients by using less data,which is a big advantage compared with other similar theories,especially when there is a limited number of experimental data.

A generalized yield criterion is proposed based on the metai plastic deformation mechanics and the fundamental formula in theory of plasticity. Using the generalized yield criterion, the reason is explained that Mises yield criterion and Tresca yield criterion do not completely match with experimental data. It has been shown that the yield criteria of ductile metals depend not only on the quadratic invariant of the deviatoric stress tensor J2, but also on the cubic invariant of the deviatoric stress tensor J3 and the ratio of the yield stress in pure shear to the yield stress in uniaxial tension κ/σs. The reason that Mises yield criterion and Tresca yield criterion are not in good agreement with the experimental data is that the effect of J3 and κ/σs is neglected.

A Linearized and Unified yield criterion of Metals and Its Application

In this paper a linearized and unified yield crierion of metals is presented, which is in a form of a set of linear functions with two pararneters. The parameters are ex- pressed in terms of tension yield stress and so-called “shear-stretch ratio” and can bereadily determined from experimental data. It is shown that in stress space the set of yield functions is a set of polygons with twelve edges located between the Tresca’s hexagon and twin-shear-stress hexagon￣[1]. In this paper the present yield function isused to analyse the prestressiap loose running fit cylinders.

Confining stress effect on the elastoplastic ground reaction considering the Lode angle dependence

The convergence confinement methods are solutions employed to estimate convergence in circular tunnels. They are mostly based on constitutive equations governed by the Mohr-Coulomb and Hoek-Brown yield criteria. However, the solutions based on these criteria neglect the intermediate principal stress confining effect on the ground reaction estimation. Therefore, in this paper, a Drucker-Prager yield criterion governed solution integrated with the Lode angle parameter is employed. It considers the intermediate principal stress influence and the critical effect of the parameter on failure ***, it is verified with results attained from numerical simulations which consider an elasticperfectly plastic constitutive law with a non-associative flow rule within FLAC3D. It was drawn from the results that the ground reaction and plastic evolution are influenced by the confining ***, considering a suitable yield criterion leads to realistic convergence and plastic evolution estimation. The circumscribed DP criterion governed solution with Lode angle parameter value(0.8) is considered appropriate for the realistic ground reaction estimation in the three-dimensional(3D) stress state rock mass. It estimates approximately 3.4% of tunnel convergence as compared to the classic solutions(5%) and plastic radius estimated to be approximately 2.45 m compared to 2.84 m.

Planar anisotropy of commercially pure titanium sheets

Commercially pure titanium （CP Ti） sheets show typical planar anisotropy due to the inherently crys- tallographic texture and manufacturing process. To char- acterize the planar anisotropic behaviors of CP Ti sheets in the forming process, uniaxial tensile tests of TA0 sheets were performed along rolling, transverse, and diagonal directions at room temperature; corresponding stress-strain curves and Lankford coefficients were obtained. Based on Hi11＇48 and Barlat＇89 yield functions, the planar anisotropy of TA0 sheets was investigated. In order to verify the accuracy of two models, we compared the experimental and predicted values of yield stress and Lankford coeffi- cients. It reveals that Barlat＇89 criterion with M = 10 is good agreement with experimental data, and the obtained function can be used in simulation of forming process.

Analysis of the Internal Pressure in Tube Hydroforming and Its Experimental Investigation

The internal pressure of the process was studied theoretically and experimentally. The external load character and internal stress character of tube hydroforming were discussed first. Then, according to the characters, the function and classification of internal pressure were presented in general. Base on the stress analysis, its effect on the yield criterion and calculation formula were also researched and derived. To verify the correction of the theoretical analysis and derived formula, experiments with different internal pressures were carried out and the result was compared and discussed. It demonstrates that internal pressure plays an important role in tube hydroforming and theory and formula discussed and derived by this paper are feasible in practice.

The criterion of anomalous slip at OK in body centered cubic metals

It is generally accepted that anomalous slip(AS) takes place by hexagonal dislocation networks(HDNs) in body centered cubic(BCC) metals,but the role of the HDN formation process in AS has rarely been investigated so *** this work,the critical yield conditions of the HDNs and isolated dislocations were first calculated,respectively,by molecular statics simulations in two BCC *** on these data,a novel mechanism,entitled as the "conjugated dislocation sources"(CDS),to analyze the formation of the HDNs was proposed for the first time and then incorporated into the criterion of the occurrence of *** prediction is in agreement with experimental *** to previous study,it has been revealed that the multiplication of isolated screw dislocations involved in AS has to be considered for correctly understanding the AS origin.

Improved slope safety analysis by new Druker-Prager type criterion

Based on Mohr-Coulomb （M-C） criterion, the parameters of Druker-Prager （D-P） criterion for geomaterial were determined under non-associated flow rule, and thus a new D-P type criterion was presented. Two assumptions were employed during the derivation： 1） principal strains by M-C model and D-P model are equal, and 2） the material is under plane strain condition. Based on the analysis of the surface on rt plane, it is found that the proposed D-P type criterion is better than the D-P criterion with M-C circumscribed circle or M-C inscribed circle, and is applicable for stress Lode angle less than zero. By comparing the predicted results with the test data of sand under plane strain condition and other D-P criteria, the proposed criterion is verified and agrees well with the test data, which is further proved to be better than other D--P type criteria in certain range of Lode angle. The criterion was compiled into a finite difference package FLAC3D by user-subroutine, and was used to analyze the stability of a slope by strength reduction method. The predicted slope safety factor from the proposed criterion agrees well with that by Spencer method, and it is more accurate than that from classic D-P criteria.
