Fluid inclusion and H-O isotope study of the Jiguanshan porphyry Mo deposit,xilamulun metallogenic belt:implications for characteristics and evolution of ore-forming fluids

We studied the fluid inclusions of the Jiguanshan Mo deposit in China,which is a large porphyry deposit located in the southern xilamulun metallogenic *** irregular Mo ore body with various types of hydrothermal veinlets is hosted by Late Jurassic granite *** hydrothermal alterations in the deposit from the core to margin are silicification-potassium feldspar alteration,pyrite-quartz-sericite-fluorite alteration,and propylitic *** on the mineral assemblages and crosscutting relationships of ore veins,the ore-forming process were divided into three stages and two substages:quartz-pyrite veins(stage I)associated with potassic alteration;quartz-molybdenite-chalcopyrite-pyrite veins(substage Ⅱ-1)and quartz-molybdenite-fluorite veins(substage Ⅱ-2)associated with phyllic alteration;and fluorite-quartz-carbonate veins(stage Ⅲ)with *** majorfluid inclusions(FIs)types were distinguished in the quartz associated with oxide and sulfide minerals,*** brine(Pb-type),opaque-bearing brine(Ob-type),solid halite(S-type),two-phase aqueous(A-type),and vapor(Vtype)*** FIs of stage I were composed of liquid-rich S-,A-,and V-type FIs with homogenization temperatures and salinities of 490 to 511℃ and 8.9 to 56.0 wt%NaCl equiv.,*** FIs of substage Ⅱ-1 are composed of Pb-,Ob-,S-,A-,and V-type FIs with homogenization temperatures and salinities of 352 to 460℃ and 3.7 to 46.1 wt%NaCl equiv,*** FIs of substage Ⅱ-2 are Ob-,S-,A-,and V-type FIs with homogenization temperatures and salinities of 234 to309°C and 3.7 to 39.2 wt%NaCl equiv,*** FIs of stage Ⅲ are A-type FIs with homogenization temperatures and salinities of 136 to 172℃ and 1.1 to 8.9 wt%NaCl equiv,*** boiling,which resulted in the precipitation of sulfides,occurred in stages I andⅡ.The initial ore-forming fluids of the Jiguanshan deposit had high temperature,high salinity,and belonged to an F-rich NaCl±KCl-H2O system.

The Chehugou Mo-Cu deposit,located 56 km west of Chifeng,NE China,is hosted by Triassic granite ***-chalcopyrite mineralization of the deposit mainly occurs as veinlets in stockwork ore and dissemination in breccia ore,and two ore-bearing quartz veins crop out to the south of the granite porphyry *** on crosscutting relationships and mineral paragenesis,three hydrothermal stages are identified:(i) quartz-pyrite-molybdenite±chalcopyrite stage;(ii) pyrite-quartz±sphalerite stage;and(iii) quartz-calcite±pyrite±fluorite *** types of fluid inclusions in the stockwork and breccia ore are recognized:LV,two-phase aqueous inclusions(liquid-rich);LVS,three-phase liquid,vapor,and salt daughter crystal inclusions;and VL,two-phase aqueous inclusions(gas-rich).LV and LVS fluid inclusions are recognized in vein *** investigation of the three types of fluid inclusions in hydrothermal quartz from the stockwork,breccia,and vein ores shows salinities from 1.57 to 66.75 wt%NaCl equivalents, with homogenization temperatures varying from 114℃to 550℃.The temperature changed from 282-550℃, 220-318℃to 114-243℃from the first stage to the third *** homogenization temperatures and salinity of the LV,LVS and VL inclusions are 114-442℃and 1.57-14.25 wt%NaCl equivalent,301-550℃and 31.01-66.75 wt% NaCl equivalent,286-420℃and 4.65-11.1 wt%NaCl equivalent,*** VL inclusions coexist with the LV and LVS,which homogenize at the similar *** above evidence shows that fluid-boiling occurred in the ore-forming stage.δS values of sulfide from three type ores change from -0.61‰to 0.86‰.Theseδ340S values of sulfide are similar toδS values of typical magmatic sulfide sulfur(c.0‰), suggesting that ore-forming materials are magmatic in origin.

The large Jiguanshan porphyry Mo deposit,with more than 100 Mt of ore and grades ranging from 0.08% to 0.11%,is located in the newly identified xilamulun metallogenic belt along the northern margin of the North China *** Mo mineralization is predominantly disseminated in the host granite porphyry,but locally occurs as stockworks in lithic tuff and rhyolitic rocks. Ar/Ar dates of samples from groundmass material in the host granite porphyry,post-ore diabase,and quartz porphyry dikes show plateau ages of 155.1±1.9,149.4±0.9, and 147.6±0.9 Ma,with inverse isochron ages of 156.0±1.8,149.3±1.3,and 148.3±1.2 Ma,respectively. Seven samples of disseminated molybdenite yielded a weighted average Re-Os age of 155.3±0.9 Ma, whereas six veinlet-type molybdenite samples yielded a weighted average Re-0s age of 153.0±0.9 Ma, providing direct timing constraints for the Mo mineralization at 153-155 *** regional geological setting together with the emplacement of post-ore diabase and quartz porphyry dikes in the Jiguanshan deposit,are indicative of an extensional regime in Late Jurassic,which was probably linked to lithospheric extension in northeast China.

The Yangchang granite-hosted Mo deposit is typical of the xilamulun metallogenic belt,which is one of the important Mo-Pb-Zn-Ag producers in China.A combination of major and trace element Sr,Nd and Pb isotope,and zircon U-Pb age data are reported for the Yangchang batholith to constrain its petrogenesis and Mo *** LA-ICPMS U-Pb dating yields mean ages of 138 ±2 and 132 ± 2 Ma for monzogranite and granite porphyry,*** monzogranites and granite porphyries are calc-alkaline with KO/NaO ratios of 0.75-0.92 and 1.75-4.42,*** are all enriched in large-ion hthophile elements(LILEs) and depleted in high-field-strength elements(HFSEs) with negative Nb and Ta anomalies in primitive-mantle-normalized trace element *** monzogranites have relatively high Sr(380-499 ppm)and Y(14-18ppm) concentrations,and the granite porphyries have lower Sr(31-71 ppm) and Y(5-11 ppm) concentrations than those of *** monzogranites and granite porphyries have relatively low initial Sr isotope ratios of 0.704573-0.705627 and0.704281,respectively,and similar Pb/Pb ratios of 18.75-18.98 and 18.48-18.71,*** contrast,the ε(t) value(-3.7) of granite porphyry is lower than those of monzogranites(—1.5 to —2.7) with Nd model ages of about 1.0 *** geochemical features suggest that the monzogranite and granite porphyries were derived from juvenile crustal rocks related to subduction of the Paleo-Pacific plate under east China.

The Laojiagou Mo deposit is a newly discovered porphyry Mo deposit located in the xilamulun Mo metallogenic belt,Northeast *** mineralization mainly occurred within the monzogranite and monzogranite ***–Os isochron dating of molybdenites indicate a mineralization age of 234.9 ± 3.1 *** LA–ICP–MS U–Pb analysis for monzogranite porphyry and monzogranite yieldPb/ U ages of 238.6 ± 1.8 and 241.3 ± 1.5 Ma,respectively,indicating that Laojiagou Mo mineralization is related to Middle Triassic *** isotopic compositions of zircons from both monzogranite porphyry and monzogranite are characterized by positive ε(t) values [ε(t) = 2.9–7.3 and 1.5–7.9,respectively] and young T model ages,which implies that the magma was derived from juvenile crust created during accretion of the Central Asian Orogenic belt(CAOB).Identification of the Laojiagou Mo deposit adds another important example of Triassic Mo mineralization in the xilamulun Mo metallogenic belt where most Triassic Mo deposits in northeast China cluster around the northern margin of North China *** on the regional geological setting and geochronological and Hf isotope characteristics,we propose that Triassic Mo deposits and related magmatic rocks in northeast China formed during the last stages of evolution of the *** deposits formed during post-collisional extension after the closure of the Palaeo-Asian Ocean and amalgamation of the North China–Mongolian Block with the Siberian Craton.

The Aolunhua porphyry Mo-Cu deposit is located in the northern margin of the North China Craton(NCC),and belongs to the northern part of the xilamulun metallogenic *** than 90%of the mineralization occurs within the Aolunhua monzogranite-porphyry;a small part is hosted within quartz veins that crosscut Late Permian *** syenogranite,occurring as dikes and cutting through the Aolunhua monzograniteporphyry, is radially distributed in the mining *** U-Pb ages show that the Aolunhua monzogranite-porphyry and the post-ore syenogranite have concordant Pb/U ages of 138.7±1.2 Ma and 131.4±2.8 Ma,*** on analyses of major,trace elements and Hf-isotopes,the Aolunhua porphyry is characterized by high Sr low Y with high La/Yb and Sr/Y ratios typical of adakitic granites,whereas the post-ore syenogranite has lower Sr and higher Y values,showing apparently negative Eu anomalies (δEu=0.26 to 0.31).The Hf isotopic composition of the Aolunhua porphyry[ε(t)=+3.6to+9.2]and the post-ore syenogranite[ε(t)=+3.6 to+8.7]indicates that both juvenile crustal sources and depleted mantle contributed to their *** regional geological setting together with the discrepancy of geochemistry between the Aolunhua porphyry and the post-ore syenogranite probably indicates that they formed in different tectonic *** Aolunhua porphyry is derived from partial melting of the thickened crust due to underplating of the basaltic magma under the transformation tectonic regime,while the post-ore syenogranite comes from the crustal root melting during the lithospheric delamination stage under the lithosphere thinning regime of northeast China.
