A Secure Communicating While Jamming Approach for End-to-End Multi-Hop wireless communication Network

With the rapid development of wireless communications,cellular communication and distributed wireless network are fragile to eavesdropping due to distributed users and transparent communication.However,to adopt bigger transmit power at a given area to interfere potential eavesdroppers not only incurs huge energy waste but also may suppresses regular communication in this area.To this end,we focus on secure communication in multi-hop wireless communication network,and propose two communicating while jamming schemes for secure communication in presence of potential eavesdroppers for the narrow band and broad band point-to-point(P2P) systems respectively with the aid of artificial noise transmitted by a chosen cooperative interferer.Furthermore,to achieve the end-to-end(E2E) multi-hop secure communication,we devise the secure network topology discovering scheme.via constructing a proper network topology with at least one proper node as the cooperative interferer in each hop,and then propose the secure transmission path planning scheme to find an E2E secure transmission route from source to destination,respectively.Experiments on the wireless open-access research platform demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed schemes.Besides,simulations results validate that the proposed schemes can achieve better performance compared with existing methods in both the P2P communication case and E2E multi-hop communication network scenario.

Space-frequency-polarization-division multiplexed wireless communication system using anisotropic space-time-coding digital metasurface

In the past few years, wireless communications based on digital coding metasurfaces have gained research interest owing to their simplified architectures and low cost. However, in most of the metasurface-based wireless systems, a single-polarization scenario is used, limiting the channel capacities. To solve the problem, multiplexing methods have been adopted, but the system complexity is inevitably increased. Here,a space-frequency-polarization-division multiplexed wireless communication system is proposed using an anisotropic space-time-coding digital metasurface. By separately designing time-varying control voltage sequences for differently oriented varactor diodes integrated on the metasurface, we achieve frequency-polarization-division multiplexed modulations. By further introducing different time-delay gradients to the control voltage sequences in two polarization directions, we successfully obtain space-frequency-polarization-division multiplexed modulations to realize a wireless communication system with a new architecture. The new communication system is designed with compact dual-polarized meta-elements, and can improve channel capacity and space utilization. Experimental results demonstrate the high-performance and real-time transmission capability of the proposed communication system,confirming its potential application in multiple-user collaborative wireless communications.

Data-driven paradigms are well-known and salient demands of future wireless communication. Empowered by big data and machine learning techniques,next-generation data-driven communication systems will be intelligent with unique characteristics of expressiveness, scalability, interpretability, and uncertainty awareness, which can confidently involve diversified latent demands and personalized services in the foreseeable future. In this paper, we review a promising family of nonparametric Bayesian machine learning models,i.e., Gaussian processes(GPs), and their applications in wireless communication. Since GP models demonstrate outstanding expressive and interpretable learning ability with uncertainty, they are particularly suitable for wireless communication. Moreover, they provide a natural framework for collaborating data and empirical models(DEM). Specifically, we first envision three-level motivations of data-driven wireless communication using GP models. Then, we present the background of the GPs in terms of covariance structure and model inference. The expressiveness of the GP model using various interpretable kernels, including stationary, non-stationary, deep and multi-task kernels,is showcased. Furthermore, we review the distributed GP models with promising scalability, which is suitable for applications in wireless networks with a large number of distributed edge devices. Finally, we list representative solutions and promising techniques that adopt GP models in various wireless communication applications.

Bio-inspired vibrational wireless underground communication system

The internet of the underground things(IoUT)is an emerging field that concerns connected underground sensing nodes and can find applications in various fields such as geotechnical engineering,precision agriculture,and search and rescue operations.The complex underground environment and multiphase nature of the soil pose challenges to wireless underground communication.Most existing studies on wireless underground communication focus on the use of electromagnetic waves.However,as a highly lossy material for electromagnetic waves,soil can limit the range and reliability of data transmission.Inspired by subterranean animals that rely on vibrations or seismic waves for underground communication,the prototype system developed in this study is based on vibration.This system includes a bioinspired vibrating source,a micro-electromechanical system(MEMS)accelerometer,a microcontroller,and a set of algorithms for encoding and decoding information.Specifically,the mole ratsinspired source is small in size,low in cost,and energy-efficient.An on-off-keying decoding algorithm enhanced with an error-correction algorithm is found to be robust in transmitting textual and imaginary information.With the current design,a maximum transmission bit rate of 16e17 bits per second and a transmission distance of 80 cm can be achieved.The bit error ratio is as low as 0.1%,demonstrating the robustness of the algorithms.The performance of the developed system shows that seismic waves produced by vibration can be used as an information carrier and can potentially be implemented in the IoUT.

Implementation of High-Q Embedded Band Pass Filter in wireless communication

At 12.8 MHz center frequency,the advanced miniaturized polymer-based planar high quality factor(Q)passive elements embedded bandpassﬁlter works in the L-band.Because most of the demands operate inside the spectrum,the wideband or high-speed operation necessary to enhance must be acquired in microwave frequency ranges.The channel has a quiet,high-performance micro-ﬁlter with wideband rejection.Capacitors and inductors are used in the high quality factor(Q)passive components,and related networks are incorporated in theﬁlter.Embedded layers are concatenated using Three-Dimensional Integrated Circuit(3D-IC)integration,parasitics are removed,and interconnection losses are negotiated using de-embedding methods.A wireless application-based Liquid Crystalline Polymer(LCP)viewpoint is employed as a substrate material in this work.The polymer processes,their properties,and the incorporated high-Q Band Pass Filter Framework.The suggestedﬁlter model is computed and manufactured utilizing the L-band frequency spectrum,decreasing total physical length by 31%while increasing bandwidth by 45%.

Developing MXenes from wireless communication to Electromagnetic Attenuation

There is an urgent global need for wireless communication utilizing materials that can provide simultaneous flexibility and high conductivity.Avoiding the harmful effects of electromagnetic(EM)radiation from wireless communication is a persistent research hot spot.Two-dimensional(2D)materials are the preferred choice as wireless communication and EM attenuation materials as they are lightweight with high aspect ratios and possess distinguished electronic properties.MXenes,as a novel family of 2D materials,have shown excellent properties in various fields,owing to their excellent electrical conductivity,mechanical stability,high flexibility,and ease of processability.To date,research on the utility of MXenes for wireless communication has been actively pursued.Moreover,MXenes have become the leading materials for EM attenuation.Herein,we systematically review the recent advances in MXene-based materials with different structural designs for wireless communication,electromagnetic interference(EMI)shielding,and EM wave absorption.The relationship governing the structural design and the effectiveness for wireless communication,EMI shielding,and EM wave absorption is clearly revealed.Furthermore,our review mainly focuses on future challenges and guidelines for designing MXene-based materials for industrial application and foundational research.

As the key component of wireless data transmission and powering,stretchable antennas play an indispensable role in flexible/stretchable electronics.However,they often suffer from frequency detuning upon mechanical deformations;thus,their applications are limited to wireless sensing with wireless transmission capabilities remaining elusive.Here,a hierarchically structured stretchable microstrip antenna with meshed patterns arranged in an arched shape showcases tunable resonance frequency upon deformations with improved overall stretchability.The almost unchanged resonance frequency during deformations enables robust on-body wireless communication and RF energy harvesting,whereas the rapid changing resonance frequency with deformations allows for wireless sensing.The proposed stretchable microstrip antenna was demonstrated to communicate wirelessly with a transmitter(input power of−3 dBm)efficiently(i.e.,the receiving power higher than−100 dBm over a distance of 100 m)on human bodies even upon 25%stretching.The flexibility in structural engineering combined with the coupled mechanical-electromagnetic simulations,provides a versatile engineering toolkit to design stretchable microstrip antennas and other potential wireless devices for stretchable electronics.

Physical layer security(PLS)in wireless communication systems has attracted extensive research attentions in recent years.Unlike cryptography-based methods applied in upper-layer in network,PLS methods are applied in physical layers and can provide information-theoretic security by utilizing the randomness of signals and wireless channels.In this survey,we provide a comprehensive review in the domain of physical layer authentication(PLA)in wireless communication systems,including the concepts,several key techniques of typical PLA architectures as well as future challenges and research trends in more sophisticated communication systems.The survey begins with an overview of the background and basic concepts of PLA,such as the general model of wireless security communication system,typical frameworks of key-based/less PLA systems,and the common attack models.We then discuss the major concerns and key techniques that are applied in PLA systems,where three types of authentication schemes are considered,i.e.,the authentication based on channel information,radio-frequency and identity watermarks.Basic models and representative research results about key approaches and techniques applied to the authentication systems above are subsequently covered.Finally,the associated challenges and potential research trends of PLA in future communication systems are presented at the end of the survey paper.

A High-Altitude Platform Air-Ground wireless communication System Based on Beidou

Aerostat platforms could serve as potential aerial platforms because of their low cost,long flight times,and easy load recovery.They are suitable for emergency communication,early warnings,Earth observations,and other fields.The air-ground communication link between an aerostat platform and the ground is the basic guarantee for aerostat measurement control and service transmission.In traditional aerostat applications,platform measurement control and service transmission usually use different links.The load and ground equipment are complex,and the energy,load,and size of the platform are greatly occupied.In this paper,we propose a Beidou-assisted air-ground communication ground for a near-space platform that uses Beidou's positioning and communication functions to provide tracking and guidance information for the ground station.An air-ground wireless communication mode integrating measurement control and service transmission is achieved.The flight test shows that the system can effectively meet the practical application requirements.

Integrated wireless communication System Using MANET for Remote Pastoral Areas of Tibet

To reduce the network deployment cost and provide voice, message and low rate data services in remote pastoral areas of Tibet effectively, an integrated wireless communication system utilizing MANET(Mobile Ad hoc Network) is proposed. The sparse mobile devices, assisted with the solar-powered multi-functional standing stations mainly on networking maintenance and routing arrangement, self-organize into a MANET. The topology of the standing stations is designed for networking robust and to simplify the routing method and energy strategy. Then in the OMNe T++(Objective Modular Network Test bed in C++) simulation, the energy consumption is analysis while adjusting routing with the different energy status of the standing stations. The result shows that the standing stations should adjust routing as well as control the mobile devices' activity level according to the energy states of the standing stations and their adjacent mobile devices.
