A Combination Method for wind power Prediction Based on Cooperative Game Theory

Accurate prediction of wind power is significant for power system dispatching as well as safe and stable operation. By means of BP neural network, radial basis function neural network and support vector machine, a new combined method of wind power prediction based on cooperative game theory is proposed. In the method, every single forecasting model is regarded as a member of the cooperative games, and the sum of square error of combination forecasting is taken as the result of cooperation. The result is divided among the members according to Shapley values, and then weights of combination forecasting can be obtained. Application results in an actual wind farm show that the proposed method can effectively improve prediction precision.

Appropriate wind power integration standards are of great importance to standardize wind power integration and guarantee the safety and stability of the power system. This article describes the wind power integration standards of China explicitly and explains several important points of the newly revised wind power integration standards of China in comparison with standards of Germany, Denmark, etc. The newly revised standards can meet the technical demand of China＇s large-scale centralized development of wind power, and guarantee the safety, stability and economy of the grid and wind farm.

The power system structure in Three-north regions of our country is single, most of the units are thermal power units, and CHP, the ability of peak regulation is extremely limited. In most cases can only take start-stop for peak adjustment, the economy is very poor. The randomness and uncertainty of the wind power output are one of the key factors for wind power accommodation. In this paper, a provincial power grid is taken as an example. According to the analysis of regional wind power characteristics, the correlation between wind power output and load is studied, which provides support for improving the region power system accommodation capacity of wind power.

In recent years, wind power which is an intermittent and random energy source affects the frequency stability of automatic generation control（AGC） system with the large-scale wind power integration. So, it is necessary to improve the conventional frequency control method and model. Firstly, a dynamic wind farm model is set up based on wind turbines clustering for the accuracy of data in this paper. Secondly, it is analyzed that the difference between multi-area interconnection AGC model and area control error（ACE） with wind farm and without wind farm. Thirdly, an intelligent control strategy of cascade control with outer loop using fuzzy PI algorithm and inner loop using internal model controller is designed to reduce the impacting of wind power changes on AGC system frequency and improve the performance of AGC system. Finally, frequency control effects of conventional AGC system and improved AGC system are contrasted by simulation study of four-area system. It is proved that the improved AGC system has stronger ability to resist fluctuation of wind power and better frequency control performance.

Renewable energy such as wind power has an unstable nature. A joint operation of wind power with electric vehicles（EVs） or other energy storage devices is helpful to alleviate the negative effects of wind power integration on power systems. The impacts of different operation modes of wind power producer（WPP） and EV aggregator（EVA） on the market equilibrium outcomes are addressed in this paper. First, based on the oligopolistic competition theory, two stochastic equilibrium models of electricity market are proposed. One is for the case where the WPP and EVA bid separately in a non-cooperative mode, the other is for the case where the WPP and EVA form a virtual power plant（VPP） and bid in a cooperative mode to participate in the market competition. In these models, the scenario generation and reduction technique is employed to describe the uncertainty of wind speed. Secondly, the proposed equilibrium models are solved by GAMS software. Then based on the cooperative game theory, the Shapley value method is applied to allocate profits between the WPP and EVA in the VPP. Finally, numerical examples are presented to verify reasonableness and effectiveness of models. Simulation results show that when the WPP and EVA compete in a non-cooperative mode, they play a better role in peak shaving and valley filling in electricity markets. When the WPP and EVA bid in a cooperative mode, the WPP’s expected bid error will be lowered and both profits of WPP and EVA will increase, which means that the WPP and EVA have incentives to form a VPP to participate in the electricity market.

It is crucial to analyze the wind distribution throughout the year and the expected annual power generation(Mwh) to evaluate a wind power investment. The cut-in and cut-out wind speeds along with the size of the wind turbine should carefully be included to the analysis as they will affect the amount of power generation. On the other hand,the capital cost and cost of power generation each year should be allocated to the economic life of the project using an appropriated discount rate. In this paper,an economic analysis method and a wind simulation approach is developed to evaluate the expected annual power generation of a wind project. The revenue is calculated using expected power amount and the power price($/Mwh) and the net return is found by subtracting the cost. The necessary economic analysis is then performed using net present value and payback method. The weibull distribution is assumed for the wind and operational characteristics of the turbine are included.
