Seismic imaging of aftershock gap between Lushan and Wenchuan earthquakes

New Vp and Vs models of the aftershock gap between the 2013 Lushan and 2008 Wenchuan earthquakes were obtained using 7190 events recorded by 102 stations in the southeastern margin of the Tibetan Plateau. The new velocity models and event locations were inverted by the regional-scale version of double-difference tomography algorithm. The new velocity structure shows that the aftershock gap is an obviously low-velocity zone in the upper crust,whereas the aftershock regions of the Lushan and Wenchuan earthquakes show high-velocity anomalies. The low-velocity anomaly of the aftershock gap in the upper crust may indicate that the materials of the gap are weak and ductile,which is not prone to accumulate stress and cause big earthquakes. As a result,it is less likely that the big earthquakes will occur in the gap in the future.

A seismic array is a set of seismographs being arranged in a regular geometric pattern to improve signal- to-noise ratio （SNR）. Seismic arrays at various length scales have been introduced since early 1960s and have been proved to be superior to single three-component stations for detecting and characterizing signals from earthquakes and explosions. The better detection capability of arrays is achieved with a so-called ＂beamforming＂ technique, which suppress noises while preserving signals, thus enhancing SNR. As an attempt,the Kalman filter was used to study the anomalous variations of ionospheric Total Electron Content（TEC） before and after wenchuan Ms8. 0 earthquake, these TEC data were calculated from the GPS data observed by the Crustal Movement Observation Network of China. The result indicates that this method is reasonable and reliable in detecting TEC anomalies associated with large earthquakes.

以插入空白间隔的汉字知觉干扰效应为实验范式，探讨了不同长短的空白间隔对地震相关字和无关字的影响。结果发现：(1)在实验组中，与地震无关字相比，被试对地震相关字有更高的识别率；而在对照组中，被试对地震相关字和无关字的识别率差异不显著。(2)450 ms的间隔能导致地震无关字干扰效应的消失，却不会对地震相关字的识别造成干扰。本研究支持竞争激活假说，并为情绪驱动知觉加工的观点提供证据。

Co-seismic water-level and temperature changes of the 2008 magnitude - 8.0 wenchuan and the 2011 magnitude-9.0 Japan earthquakes recorded at 10 observation wells in Jiangsu province are presented and analyzed. The data show that water level responded more regularly with earthquake magnitude and dis- tance than water temperature. The response was different for wells located in different tectonic units, being weaker in central and northern plain, which has a relatively thick surface layer of loess, than southern Jiangsu, which is hilly.
