Research on water-filling Patterns and Countermeasures──A case study of Xiaotun Coal Mine

There are many water-filling factors in Xiaotun Coal Mine, such as effective precipitation, goaf water, mining-induced fissure zone, surface water system, aquifers and tectonics. For different mining levels, the relative importance of these factors is different, and the water-filling condition is changed accordingly. So it is urgent to make it clear for mining. To ensure the safety of mining, we build a system of preventing mine water-filling using detailed AHP (analytical hierarchy process) calculation. This system is based on the analysis of mine water-filling factors in order to define the relative importance of the factors. Decision-makers use it as a strong scientific basis for Xiaotun Coal *** method offered in this paper has been proved to be very applicable.

We found the long - sought optimal water - filling for networks,representing a major advance for the optimization of general MIMO interference networks under the assumption of Gaussian input,which has been an open problem due to its non - convexity. The key to this open problem is to find the optimal input structure,just like the cases of single - user MIMO channels and sum - rate maximization of MIMO multiaccess channels where the complexity of the optimization is greatly reduced by exploiting the water - filling *** general cases,the problem has been open for a long *** found the optimal input structure called polite water - filling, satisfied by all Pareto optimal *** network version of water - filling is polite because it optimally balances between reducing interference to others and maximizing a link’s own *** can be immediately used to design/improve almost all network optimization *** applications,including the weighted sum - rate maximization,are discussed to demonstrate the impact of the result.

Case retrieve is the key link in Case-Based Reasoning（CBR）system, and the distribution of attribute weights affects the retrieval accuracy directly. However, the traditional retrieval methods do not pay much attention to the weights distribution which led to low retrieval efficiency. In this paper, a new method based on water-filling principle in wireless communication field is proposed to optimize the case attribute weights. Regarding every single attribute in the case base as a sub channel, then calculates the importance of each case attribute by analyzing the data volatility with the water-filling principle. To prove the availability of the method, a glass identification dataset from the UCI database is used for a simulation experiment and the result illustrates that the new method could get a better and more accurate retrieval result compared with the traditional methods. The method could dig the inner information of each case attribute, and could assign proper weight to each attribute, which improves the retrieval accuracy and proves that the method the paper introduced is effective for CBR system.

Investigation of Upstream Near-Far Problem in VDSL Systems via Complete Adaptive Iterative water filling Algorithm

Crosstalk is the main degrading factor in Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) systems which are the result of electromagnetic coupling between two adjacent twisted pairs in a cable. Very-high bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line (VDSL) systems which use higher frequencies for data transmission than the other DSL systems, this effect is more considerable in Bit Error Rate (BER) degradation. This paper considers a complete adaptive iterative water-filling (IWF) algorithm for Resolving Upstream Near-Far Problem in VDSL Systems. The new distributed dynamic spectrum management algorithm is proposed, which improve achievable bit rate of iterative water-filling algorithm. The paper proffers a new power back-off strategy of the spectral mask at the near-end users, in order to protect the far-end users. Simulation of the proposed algorithm indicates that the bit rate is increased considerably rather the IWF and adaptive water-filling (AIWF) algorithms by keeping their low complexity. Furthermore, by adding the number of users in network, the new algorithm achieves performance gains over the AIWF, completely adaptive.

Robust capacity maximization transceiver design for MIMO OFDM systems

In this paper, we investigated capacity maximization problem for Multiple Input Multiple Output Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing systems with imperfect channel state information(CSI). To the best of our knowledge, the considered problem is still an open problem. However, the transceiver designs for MIMO OFDM systems have been extensively studied. It seems nobody gives closed-form solutions for resource allocation for MIMO OFDM systems with statistical channel estimation errors up to date. In our work, based on practical channel estimation algorithm, the channel estimation errors are first derived and then the robust resource allocation problem has been formulated. The structure of the optimal robust precoder is first derived,based on which the optimization problem will be simplified significantly. Furthermore, based on the Lagrangian dual method, a robust power allocation algorithm is proposed. The proposed power allocation can be considered as a variant of water-filling solution named cluster water-filling solution. Finally, simulation results show that our proposed robust design outperforms the non-robust design in terms of channel capacity.

Opportunistic Error Correction: When Does It Work Best for OFDM Systems?

The water-filling algorithm enables an energy-efficient OFDM-based transmitter by maximizing the capacity of a frequency selective fading channel. However, this optimal strategy requires the perfect channel state information at the transmitter that is not realistic in wireless applications. In this paper, we propose opportunistic error correction to maximize the data rate of OFDM systems without this limit. The key point of this approach is to reduce the dynamic range of the channel by discarding a part of the channel in deep fading. Instead of decoding all the information from all the sub-channels, we only recover the data via the strong sub-channels. Just like the water-filling principle, we increase the data rate over the stronger sub-channels by sacrificing the weaker sub-channels. In such a case, the total data rate over a frequency selective fading channel can be increased. Correspondingly, the noise floor can be increased to achieve a certain data rate compared to the traditional coding scheme. This leads to an energy-efficient receiver. However, it is not clear whether this method has advantages over the joint coding scheme in the narrow-band wireless system (e.g. the channel with a low dynamic range), which will be investigated in this paper.
