This study was designed to bridge gap in nutritionally skewed available biscuits and the high volume of agricultural waste generated by investigating the quality of biscuits prepared from wheat base, supplemented with waste from watermelon rinds and orange pomace as possible nutritious alternatives. Biscuit samples were respectively produced from blends of wheat, watermelon rind and orange pomace in the following ratio 100:0:0;90:5:5;80:10:10;70:15:15 and 60:20:20, labelled samples A, B, C, D and E. Functional, proximate, mineral and sensory properties of the formulated biscuit samples were carried out using standard analytical procedures. ＜正＞Public concerns over the safety management of medical wastes have markedly increased after several epidemic diseases burst out in recent years. Medical waste consists of various items and materials which makes its composition highly complicated and requires caution in handling. Except the mostly concerned "infectious waste", it also includes general waste （such as office paper） and special medical waste. wastes with special properties are generated mainly from medical activities and are categorized as special medical wastes in Taiwan, such as chemicals, heavy metals, sharps, pressurized containers, Pharmaceuticals, medical devices, X-ray films, and amalgam fillings. Although most of these wastes contain valuable substances, the fact that they are yet considered seriously so far makes recycling of the wastes difficult. Therefore, this study is focused on the management and recycling of these special medical wastes. It is the ultimate goal that total quantity of wastes can be reduced and the wastes generated can be handled and treated in safe and proper methods that reusable materials can be recycled. This article reported a survey carried out over selected hospitals in Taiwan. A brief review of practices and policies in some countries and international organizations is referred to propose further measures. Suggestions on improving treatment and recycling of these special medical wastes in Taiwan are provided as the output of this study.

Residential environmental quality(REQ)affects human health and quality of life(QoL).Therefore,this study assessed residents’perception of the REQ of the Yenagoa *** for the study were sourced from the 400 administered questionnaires,which required respondents to rate their REQ based on seven selected indicators(air quality,drinking water quality,housing location,sanitation,waste management,housing accessibility and noise pollution).The respondents were sampled using the multistage sampling *** data were analyzed using frequency,percentage,t-test,ANOVA and REQ *** findings show that the overall calculated REQ of Yenagoa was classified as“good quality”.The best-rated indicator was drinking water quality,while the least-rated was noise *** based on respondents’sex,income and educational status recorded similar ***,the respondents’perception of the REQ across the four zones was similar as the calculated ratings of all the zones fell under the“good quality”***,the hypotheses tested revealed that there were no significant differences in the perception of the REQ by sex and income status,while significant variation exists by education *** the general“good quality”rating,there is still room for improvement,especially in the areas of noise pollution,sanitation and housing location,which received relatively low ratings.

本文基于对2017年以来的乡村废弃物管理调查，主要阐明以下发现：第一，以污染治理和环境保护理念为基准的法律法规，构成了乡村废弃物管理的制度框架。第二，广泛的环境教育和信息传播与政府自上而下的强力推动一起，有效促进了养殖业污染治理、厕所革命和生活垃圾管理的进展。第三，中央和地方政府与产生废弃物的企业、住户和个人分担了污染治理和环境管理责任和成本。财政资金重点投资于废弃物减量化、无害化和资源化利用流程中的市场失灵领域。值得注意的是，公共设施竣工后的运行和维护资金不足，加之项目设计和投资决策缺少制度化的村民参与，削弱了废弃物管理的可持续性。此外，某些技术模式特别是现有的污水处理模式，不足以解决人口居住分散条件下设施运行缺少规模效益的问题，以至造成污染治理的盲区。

Brazil is the 4th biggest dimension stone producer and the 7th greatest exporter. Due to its large stone production, Brazil faces a challenge, which is to find appropriate destination to the huge volume of generated waste throughout the process, mostly slurry from sawing process. Predominantly, Brazilian production comes from the state of Espirito Santo. In this region, frequently the slurry waste generated is stocked in industries own area or even dumped on unauthorized open sites. Researchers search for applications to the slurry stone waste as an industrial raw material. However, a gap persists between the results already achieved and a methodology to rational and economical affordable application. This paper aims to analyze physical, chemical and mineralogical the powder wastes produced by conventional metallic blades loom (DSPW-CL) and diamond wire loom (DSPW-DL) during stone processing to promote its valorization as a building construction material. This could mitigate dimension stone industry impact and improve life quality around the areas of production.
