The link between climate and war has long been a topic of great scientific and social *** this study,we investigate the influence of climate on warfare in China’s Hexi Corridor region since 241 *** the superposed epoch analysis of tree-ring data and historical war data,we observe a notable correlation between interannual dry-wet variations and wars instigated by nomadic groups in the Hexi ***,this relationship is dynamic and influenced by the region’s relative *** periods in which the Hexi Corridor was ruled by multiple regimes,wars tended to follow dry climatic conditions,which may be due to the fact that unusual drought during these periods likely heightened competition for resources and ***,during times of regional unity,wars were more likely to occur when climatic conditions were wet because the expansion of rangelands and the accumulation of resources helped fuel the nomads’outward *** findings underscore the complexity of the relationship between war and climate *** gain a more comprehensive understanding of this relationship,continuous,high-resolution historical temperature and humidity datasets with broader and more uniform coverage are needed across multiple *** addition,collecting and examining disaggregated historical war data for regions with distinct characteristics is essential.

Dear Editor,Soldiers or people in battlefield settings are frequently injured with acute trauma, resulting in respiratory depression, hypoxia and associated morbidity and mortality. Traumatic brain injury(TBI) is with as much as 80%–90% of mild to moderate in combat casualties and contributed significantly to morbidity and mortality in battlefield settings. Correction of hypoxia at as capable as possible is expected to reduce or minimize the morbidity/mortality due to acute brain injury. An easy, quick and safe setup to promote oxygenation/ventilation of injured military personnel or peoples by non-medical personnel in battlefield settings immediately after acute injury before transfer to hospital is expected to reduce the morbidity/mortality due to injury mediated respiratory depression.

This article examines the discourse of two American couples in the China trade regarding fidelity and sacrifice during the period in which the spatial confines of the Canton system gave way to the intensified interactions of the Treaty Port *** the Opium war,when the Qing court had mandated that Western husbands conducting business in Canton live apart from their wives,marital tension was accentuated by the separation from absentee *** the subsequent Treaty Port era,enhanced spatial mobility of the couples did not assuage their ***,intensified cross-cultural encounters allowed them to project their feelings and expectations on the foreign other,'as racial categories developed and their imperial proclivities began to *** the Western women in contact with elite Chinese and other Western women only aggravated their agitation as they faced their Chinese counterparts,whom they readily construed as *** socio-political and spatial reconfigurations provided new dimensions to the discourse of fidelity and *** voices of the American couples recorded here are those of individuals,but the underlying anxiety they articulated represented the growing pains of more intimate Sino-Western encounters.

This article probes the role that Great Britain played in stabilizing European economy and politics and its role in curbing the influence of communism during the first period of the Cold war by providing accurate statistics and hard believable facts. Apart from this, this article also discusses the extent of possibility of keeping peace during the Cold war. Through Vietnam war and Korean war and some other conflicts between two ideological rival blocs, the author safely concludes that peace is conditioned, if the power of balance is broken, the Cold war can be a hot one.

Samuel Beckett’s Endgame serves a story of four incomplete characters and their tedious talks over a long time. In the historical environment of cold war, the incompleteness of those men coincidentally reflects the trauma left during that period. Beckett has set an order-and-action relationship, rounding up the two characters- Hamm and Clov. Tedious talks of four heroes are like the wars, once ended by people's emptiness and exhaustion, will come back again for another ridiculous purpose.
