＜正＞LCD displays are widely used in vehicles *** placement of the display in moving vehicles is subject to many kinds of *** is disturbing and annoying when human eyes have to read and precisely identify targets subject to a certain range of frequency and magnitude of *** reading performance may be decreased and visual discomfort and fatigue may *** study tested these two hypotheses by studying the effect of different vibration conditions（vi- bration frequency,vibration amplitude,and different direction of vibration）on visual task for several different designs of vertically displayed numerical characteristics which include the font size and the number of digits on the LCD *** visual performance and fatigue were measured by the reaction time,accuracy,critical flicker fusion frequency,visual acu- ity,and subjective *** results showed that both the frequency and magnitude of vibration had significant effects on the reaction time,accuracy,and visual *** software design of the displayed materials must take the motion effect into consideration to increase the quality of the screen display.

The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of screen height and inclination on visual fatigue and musculoskeletal discomfort for wheelchair users in a VDT data entry task. A total of 8 males of wheelchair users were recruited as participants to perform 9 different experiment combinations. Three screen heights and three screen inclinations were evaluated. visual fatigue was measured by the change of critical fusion frequency(CFF) and near point accommodation(NPA). Musculoskeletal discomfort was estimated by rating of perceived exertion(RPE) and subjective ranking of preference. Each participant performed a data-entry task in a 30 minutes period using random orders. The seated postures of all participants during the data-entry operation were in upright postures. Their lower and upper arms were forming right angles with no wrist bending. The results show that the screen height and the screen inclination are significantly affected visual fatigue and musculoskeletal discomfort. It is suggested that the optimum choice of the screen height is the eye-level height or 5 cm below it where the screen inclination is horizontal for wheelchair users.

＜正＞Legibility and visual fatigue of electronic papers（EPs）were studied and compared with printing images under different ambient lighting conditions,font types and polarity of Chinese *** made of cholesteric liquid crystal（Ch-LC）and electrophoretic electronic ink（E-ink）were used in this *** terms of visual performance,the results showed that am- bient illumination had significant effect on the search time of letter-search *** medium and polarity were signifi- cant factors for the search accuracy of letter-search *** illumination level,positive polarity and black-white dis- play medium provided better ***,none of these factors was significant in the rating of visual fatigue.

Virtual reality training improves accommodative facility and accommodative range

AIM: To evaluate the effects of virtual reality(VR) training on different parameters of ***: Sixty individuals ranged 18-60 years old with asthenopia were randomly divided into short-term(n=40) and long-term(n=20) treatment groups. They were given a specially designed VR training device only once for 15 min or 3-4 times a day for 15 min each time for 1 mo. The visual acuity, spherical equivalent, accommodative range, accommodative facility, pupil size, and visual fatigue were evaluated before(control) and after VR training. RESULTS: The visual acuity, accommodative range, and accommodative facility increased in subjects of the shortterm treatment group, whereas their pupil size contracted significantly. No significant changes in spherical equivalent and visual fatigue were observed. The changes in distant vision and corrected visual acuity were positively correlated with those in pupil size, but not with spherical equivalent. The accommodative range and accommodative facility improved significantly in subjects of the long-term treatment group. No significant changes in visual acuity, spherical equivalent, pupil size, and visual fatigue were noted. CONCLUSION: VR training can improve the accommodative range and accommodative facility of human eyes. Although short-term VR training can transiently improve vision, which probably due to bright light adaptation, there is no evidence that it can improve myopia.
