Supersonic viscous flows past blunt bodies is calculated with TVD difference scheme and implicit Lower Upper Symmetric Gauss Seidel (LU SGS) method, and parallel programming designing software platform PVM is used based on message passing to distribute a large task according to some patching strategies to a large number of processors in the network. These processors accomplish this large task together. The marked improvement of computational efficiency in networks, especially in MPP system, demonstrates the potential vitality of CFD in engineering design.

Theoretical analysis of the dynamic behavior of cavitating vortices requires knowledge of the velocity distribution in the vortex core. For that reason an existing similarity model for slender axisymmetric non-cavitating vortex cores has been extended with the viscous boundary conditions for a cavitating vortex. Cavitating similarity solutions exist for a vortex of which both core diameter and circulation grow with the square root of the axial coordinate. Results for this model are presented for varying cavitation numbers and Reynolds numbers. It is shown that viscosity may have a significant influence on the velocity distribution around a cavitating vortex.

This paper focuses on computations of viscous hydrodynamic forces acting on aship in oblique motion by solving the three-dimensional Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS)equations. The standard k-ε turbulence model with wall function was applied. The conservationequations were discretized by a cell-centered second-order Finite Volume Method (FVM) in ablock-structured body-fitted grid and the coupling of velocity and pressure was resolved with theSIMPLE method. Computations were performed for a Wigley hull model to investigate the viscous flowsaround it. The results show good agreement with experimental data and more reasonable prediction ofhydrodynamic forces and moments than other numerical results available.

A process has been developed recently to fabricate a structure com- prising,from top to bottom,a SiGe thin film,a glass layer,and a Si *** SiGe film is a perfect crystal,and is under biaxial *** SiGe film is patterned into *** annealing,the glass flows and the islands *** resulting strain-free islands are used as substrates,to grow epitaxial optoelectronic *** article describes a series of studies on the annealing process,combining experiment and theory.A small island relaxes by expansion,starting at the edges and diffusing to the center.A large island wrinkles before the expansion reaches the *** some time,the wrinkles either disappear,or cause the island to fracture. We model the island as an elastic plate,and the glass layer as a viscous *** strains in the islands are measured by X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy,and the wrinkle amplitudes by atomic force *** data are compared with the theoretical *** determine the conditions under which the islands relax by expansion without significant wrinkling,and demonstrate that a cap layer suppresses wrinkles,relaxing a large island crack-free.

EFFECT OF MAGNETIC FIELDS ON viscous LIQUID COLUMN WITH FINITE LENGTH IN A VERTICAL STRAIGHT TUBE

A new method, called Cloud of Points(COP) Reconstruction, is proposed in the present work to extend the meshfree method to simulate viscous flows. With the characters of viscous flows, the anisotropic COP structure is distributed in boundary layer. The proposed method can improve the anisotropic COP structure to isotropic COP structure and reduce the condition number of the least square coefficient matrix for conventional meshfree method. The values of the new reconstructed points are calculated by the Lagrange interpolation. The accuracy and the robustness of the presented meshfree solver are demonstrated on a number of standard test cases, including the functions with analytical gradients and the viscous flows past NACA0012 airfoil. The comparison of the simulation results with the experimental data and other numerical simulation data are also investigated.

The formation of thrombus is closely related to the hydrodynamical conditions. Chandler's experiment and further research showed that the cause of thrombus formed in the lower meniscus might be that the fluid particles at relatively high speed struck on the lower meniscus leading to the gathering of platelet and red blood cells(RBC). The motion of viscous liquid column with finite length and two free surface in a vertical straight tube under the action of magnetic fields was studied in this paper, numerical solution was obtained by the time dependent method in a finite difference techniques. The results show that under the action of a proper magnetic field, the axial velocity at the lower meniscus near the axis will decrease, strike on the lower meniscus will be reduced and then thrombus formation at the lower meniscus can be avoided. This result provides a guide to further experimental research on the mechanism of thrombus formation and medical treatment to thrombus.

Based on linearized 2-D Navier-Stokes equation, a Laplacetransform-boundary element coupling method for viscousfluid-structure impact analysis is proposed. Under assumption ofincompressibility for the fluid, the corresponding equivalentboundary integral equation in terms of the potential function andstream function is first established by Lamb's transform in theLaplace transform domain.
