Universal coatings with versatile surface adhesion,good mechanochemical robustness,and the capacity for secondary modification are of great scientific ***,incorporating these advantages into a system is still a great ***,we report a series of catechol-decorated polyallylamines(CPAs),denoted as pseudo-Mytilus edulis foot protein 5(pseudoMefp-5),that mimic not only the catechol and amine groups but also the backbone of *** can fabricate highly adhesive,robust,multifunctional polyCPA(PCPA)coatings based on synergetic catechol-polyamine chemistry as universal building *** to the interpenetrating entangled network architectures,these coatings exhibit high chemical robustness against harsh conditions(HCl,pH 1;NaOH,pH 14;H2O2,30%),good mechanical robustness,and wear *** addition,PCPA coatings provide abundant grafting sites,enabling the fabrication of various functional surfaces through secondary ***,the versatility,multifaceted robustness,and scalability of PCPA coatings indicate their great potential for surface engineering,especially for withstanding harsh conditions in multipurpose biomedical applications.

The novel graphitic nanomaterial of metal graphitic nanocapsules(MGNs) with superior stability, unique optical properties and biocompatibility possess great potential in biomedical and bioanalytical applications. The graphitic shell can quench the background fluorescence interference from external environments via a fluorescence resonance energy transfer(FRET) process and even avoid unnecessary reactions catalyzed by inner metal core. The graphitic shell with several characteristic Raman bands itself can act as Raman signal probe or internal standard(IS), especially the 2D-band within the cellular Raman-silent region helps to reduce the interference signals from external conditions. The present context attempts to give a comprehensive overview about the preparation and unique properties of MGNs as well as their applications in SERS biodetection and bioimaging.

Atmospheric simulation chambers,are unique tools for investigating atmospheric processes in the gas and heterogeneous *** can provide a controlled yet realistic environment that simulates atmospheric *** the current study,a Teflon atmospheric simulation chamber of 600 L,named THALAMOS(thermally regulated atmospheric simulation chamber) has been developed and *** can be operated over the temperature range 233 to 373 K under both static and flow *** is equipped with state of the art instrumentation(selective ion flow tube mass spectrometry(SIFT-MS),long path Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS),various analyzers) for the in-line monitoring of both reactants and *** was validated by measuring the rate coefficients of well documented reactions,*** reaction of ethanol with OH radicals and the reaction of dichloromethane with Cl atoms,in a wide temperature *** different detection techniques were used in parallel,FTIR and SIFT-MS,to internally cross-validate the obtained *** measured rate coefficients are in excellent agreement,both between each other and with the literature recommended ***,the gas phase oxidation of toluene by Cl atoms(kinetics and product yields) was studied in the temperature range of 253 to 333 *** the best of our knowledge,THALAMOS is a unique facility on national level and among a few smog chambers internationally that can be operated in such a wide temperature range providing the scientific community with a versatile tool to simulate both outdoor and indoor physicochemical processes.

In optics,the refractive index of a material and its spatial distribution determine the characteristics of light ***,exploring both low-and high-index materials/structures is an important consideration in this *** cavities,which are defined as low-index bases,exhibit a variety of unusual or even unexplored optical characteristics and are used in numerous functionalities including diffraction gratings,localised optical antennas and low-loss *** this report,we discuss the fabrication of hollow cavities of various sizes(O.2-5μm in diameter)that are supported by conformal dielectric/metal shells,as well as their specific applications in the ultraviolet(photodetectors),visible(light-emitting diodes,solar cells and metalenses),near-infrared(thermophotovoltaics)and mid-infrared(radiative coolers)*** findings demonstrate that hollow cavities tailored to specific spectra and applications can serve as versatile optical platforms to address the limitations of current optoelectronic ***,hollow cavity embedded structures are highly elastic and can minimise the thermal stress caused by high *** such,future applications will likely include high-temperature devices such as thermophotovoltaics and concentrator photovoltaics.

The advent of low-dimensional materials with peculiar structure and superb band properties provides a new canonical form for the development of ***,the limited exploitation of basic properties makes it difficult for devices to stand ***,we demonstrate a hybrid heterostructure with ultrathin vanadium dioxide film and molybdenum ditelluride *** dioxide is a classical semiconductor with a narrow bandgap,a high temperature coefficient of resistance,and phase *** ditelluride,a typical two-dimensional material,is often used to construct optoelectronic *** heterostructure can realize three different functional modes:(i)the p-n junction exhibits ultrasensitive detection(450 nm-2μm)with a dark current down to 0.2 pA and a response time of 17μs,(ii)the Schottky junction works stably under extreme conditions such as a high temperature of 400 K,and(iii)the bolometer shows ultrabroad spectrum detection exceeding 10μ*** flexible switching between the three modes makes the heterostructure a potential candidate for next-generation photodetectors from visible to longwave infrared radiation(LWIR).This type of photodetector combines versatile detection modes,shedding light on the hybrid application of novel and traditional materials,and is a prototype of advanced optoelectronic devices.

Conventional strategies for highly reversible Zn anodes usually involve complex and time-consuming production processes of current collectors,expensive and toxic electrolyte additives,or the introduction of inactive materials in protective ***,we develop a fast,facile,and environmentally friendly biopolishing method to prepare dendrite-free Zn anodes,which merely involves the simple immersion of Zn foil in a biocompatible cysteine aqueous *** ravine structure formed by sulfhydryl etching for 30 min not only increases the electroactive area of Zn anode but also regulates the distribution of electric field and Zn ions,ensuring the homogeneous deposition and stripping of Zn *** biopolished Zn anode can be operated steadily for 2,000 h with a low voltage hysteresis at a current density of 1 mA·cm^(−2).In addition,Zn anodes with a cycle life of 500 h can be built by soaking for only 5 min,proving the high efficiency of the proposed *** strategy is generalized to substances with sulfhydryl groups for polishing Zn electrodes with improved *** cysteine-polished Zn//activated carbon supercapacitor can stably run for 20,000 cycles without obvious capacity *** proposed strategy shows potential for producing advanced Zn anodes.

In this work,we present a versatile surface engineering strategy by the combination of mussel adhesive peptide mimicking and bioorthogonal click *** main idea reflected in this work derived from a novel mussel-inspired peptide mimic with a bioclickable azide group(i.e.,DOPA_(4)-azide).Similar to the adhesion mechanism of the mussel foot protein(i.e.,covalent/noncovalent comediated surface adhesion),the bioinspired and bioclickable peptide mimic DOPA_(4)-azide enables stable binding on a broad range of materials,such as metallic,inorganic,and organic polymer *** addition to the material universality,the azide residues of DOPA_(4)-azide are also capable of a specific conjugation of dibenzylcyclooctyne-(DBCO-)modified bioactive ligands through bioorthogonal click reaction in a second *** demonstrate the applicability of this strategy for diversified biofunctionalization,we bioorthogonally conjugated several typical bioactive molecules with DBCO functionalization on different substrates to fabricate functional surfaces which fulfil essential requirements of biomedically used *** instance,antibiofouling,antibacterial,and antithrombogenic properties could be easily applied to the relevant biomaterial surfaces,by grafting antifouling polymer,antibacterial peptide,and NO-generating catalyst,***,the novel surface bioengineering strategy has shown broad applicability for both the types of substrate materials and the expected ***,the“clean”molecular modification of bioorthogonal chemistry and the universality of mussel-inspired surface adhesion may synergically provide a versatile surface bioengineering strategy for a wide range of biomedical materials.
