This article presents the research protocol of an interpretative phenomenological study that aims to understand the lived experiences of coercion and human rights-based practices in psychiatry from the perspectives of people living with mental health problems during involuntary hospitalization or treatment.This qualitative study used an interpretative phenomenological analysis design.In-depth,one-on-one interviews along with a socio-demographic questionnaire were conducted with approximately 10 participants.Data analysis was followed by an iterative and hermeneutic emergence coding process.By centering human rights-based practices on the lived experiences of people living with mental health problems who encountered coercion,this study highlighted the contributing and limiting factors to the recognition of human rights in nursing practices.This study also promoted the development of nursing knowledge and practices that can significantly contribute to an individual’s recovery process.

t This paper aims to characterize the varied urban settings community-based elderly care facilities are located,and examine whether characteristics of urban built environments influence the number of older people attending care facilities for multiple services.The dataset incorporates 108 cases of community-based elderly care facilities and usage records from over 17000 users collected in the Chinese city of Nanjing.A network-based approach was employed to comprehensively describe urban built environments surrounding care facilities with a series of metrics on street morphology and land-uses.It was found that urban built environments significantly influenced the number of users attending care facilities.Facilities having more users tended to locate in places with more shops and stores,on major arterial streets of the city,or inside large housing estates in the outer city.Moreover,urban factors performed differently in affecting users of different services as services accepting spontaneous users were more likely to be influenced by street morphology.This study revealed specific urban factors facilitating older people’s usage of care resources.It also generated practical implications regarding the strategies for the planning of spatial locations and service provision to improve the utilization of community-based elderly care.

During a two day strategic workshop in February 2018,22 information retrieval researchers met to discuss the future challenges and opportunities within the field.The outcome is a list of potential research directions,project ideas,and challenges.This report describes the major conclusions we have obtained during the workshop.A key result is that we need to open our mind to embrace a broader IR field by rethink the definition of information,retrieval,user,system,and evaluation of IR.By providing detailed discussions on these topics,this report is expected to inspire our IR researchers in both academia and industry,and help the future growth of the IR research community.

Modeling and simulation are recognized as effective tools for management and decision support across various disciplines;however,poor communication of results to the end users is a major obstacle for properly using and understanding model output.Visualizations can play an essential role in making modeling results accessible for management and decision-making.Virtual reality(VR)and virtual geographic environments(VGEs)are popular and potentially very rewarding ways to visualize socio-environmental models.However,there is a fundamental conflict between abstraction and realism:models are goal-driven,and created to simplify reality and to focus on certain crucial aspects of the system;VR,in the meanwhile,by definition,attempts to replicate reality as closely as possible.This elevated realism may add to the complexity curse in modeling,and the message might be diluted by too many(background)details.This is also connected to information overload and cognitive load.Moreover,modeling is always associated with the treatment of uncertainty–something difficult to present in VR.In this paper,we examine the use of VR and,specifically,VGEs in socio-environmental modeling,and discuss how VGEs and simulation modeling can be married in a mutually beneficial way that makes VGEs more effective for users,while enhancing simulation models.

People in the Internet era have to cope with information overload and expend great effort on finding what they need.Recent experiments indicate that recommendations based on users' past activities are usually less favored than those based on social relationships,and thus many researchers have proposed adaptive algorithms on social recommendation.However,in those methods,quite a number of users have little chance to recommend information,which might prevent valuable information from spreading.We present an improved algorithm that allows more users to have enough followers to spread information.Experimental results demonstrate that both recommendation precision and spreading effectiveness of our method can be improved significantly.

BACKGROUND Hepatitis B virus is a viral infection that can lead to acute and/or chronic liver disease, and hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC). Hepatitis B vaccination is 95% effective in preventing infection and the development of chronic liver disease and HCC due to hepatitis B. In 2011, the Centers for Disease Control updated their guidelines recommending that adults at high-risk for hepatitis B infection be vaccinated against hepatitis B including those with diabetes mellitus(DM). We hypothesize that adults at high-risk for hepatitis B infection are not being adequately screened and/or vaccinated for hepatitis B in a large urban healthcare system.AIM To investigate clinical factors associated with Hepatitis B screening and vaccination in patients at high-risk for Hepatitis B infection.METHODS We conducted a retrospective review of 999 patients presenting at a large urban healthcare system from 2012-2017 at high-risk for hepatitis B infection. Patients were considered high-risk for hepatitis B infection based on hepatitis B practice recommendations from the Center for Disease Control. Medical history including hepatitis B serology, concomitant medical diagnoses, demographics, insurance status and social history were extracted from electronic health records.Multivariate logistic regression was used to identify clinical risk factors independently associated with hepatitis B screening and vaccination.RESULTS Among the 999 patients, 556(55.7%) patients were screened for hepatitis B. Of those who were screened, only 242(43.5%) patients were vaccinated against hepatitis B. Multivariate regression analysis revealed end-stage renal disease[odds ratio(OR): 5.122; 2.766-9.483], alcoholic hepatitis(OR: 3.064; 1.020-9.206),and cirrhosis or end-stage liver disease(OR: 1.909; 1.095-3.329); all P < 0.05 were associated with hepatitis B screening, while age(OR: 0.785; 0.680-0.906),insurance status(0.690; 0.558-0.854), history of DM(OR: 0.518; 0.364-0.737), and human immunodeficiency virus(OR: 0.443; 0.273-0.718); all P < 0.05 were

Recent interest by physicists in social networks and disease transmission factors has prompted debate over the topology of degree distributions in sexual networks. Social network researchers have been critical of “scale-free” Barabasi-Albert approaches, and largely rejected the preferential attachment, “rich-get-richer” assumptions that underlie that model. Instead, research on sexual networks has pointed to the importance of homophily and local sexual norms in dictating degree distributions, and thus disease transmission thresholds. Injecting Drug User (IDU) network topologies may differ from the emerging models of sexual networks, however. Degree distribution analysis of a Brooklyn, NY, IDU network indicates a different topology than the spanning tree configurations discussed for sexual networks, instead featuring comparatively short cycles and high concurrency. Our findings suggest that IDU networks do in some ways conform to a “scale-free” topology, and thus may represent “reservoirs” of potential infection despite seemingly low transmission thresholds.

Introduction: Breast cancer in women is a global scourge due to its frequency and high fatality rate. If screening has made it possible to considerably reduce its incidence and its mortality in developed countries, in our developing countries, it remains frequent with a still high mortality due to ignorance, late and non-systematized screening. Research Question: Can female health caregivers be incorporated into a breast cancer screening awareness team? Objective: It aimed at evaluating the knowledge of female health caregivers in Douala hospitals, added to that of female users on breast cancer screening for their efficient operationalization in this procedure. Methodology: This was a comparative cross-sectional study for analytical purposes for a period of 07 months from January 15 to July 15, 2020 conducted by means of a structured and pre-tested questionnaire after informed consent obtained from the participants received in the consultation units of these hospitals. The study variables were socio-demographic and cognitive. The data collected were entered and analyzed using SPSS 23.0 software (statistical package for social sciences) with a significance level established for a value of p Results: We retained 1000 women fulfilling our inclusion criteria, including 818 users and 182 health caregivers, i.e. an average ratio of 4 users for 1 caregiver. The average age of the users was 31.03 ± 11.31 years and that of the caregiver was 29.54 ± 8.14 years (with extremes of 15 and 67 years identical in the two groups) with a respective median of 29 and 28 years old. Good knowledge was significantly associated with level of education (secondary OR = 0.38, p = 0.03 and University OR = 0.22, p = 0.001) with a predominance of good knowledge among care givers (83.5%) against 56.2% among users.
