Analytical expressions for the three components of the nonparaxial propagation of a Hermite-Laguerre-Gaussian （HLG） beam in uniaxial crystal orthogonal to the optical axis are derived. The intensity distribution of an HLG beam and its three components propagating in a uniaxial crystal orthogonal to the optical axis are demonstrated by numerical examples. Although the y and z components of an HLG beam in the incident plane are both equal to zero, they emerge upon propagation inside the uniaxial crystal. Moreover, the beam profile of the x component is relatively stable and the beam profiles of the y and z components have the same evolution law. If the ratio of the extraordinary refractive index to the ordinary refractive index is larger than unity, the beam profile of the HLG beam is elongated in the x direction and generally rotates clockwise. Otherwise, the beam profile of the HLG beam is elongated in the y direction and generally rotates anticlockwise. This research is beneficial to the optical trapping and nonlinear optics involved in the rotation of a beam profile.

The propagation dynamics of a chirped Airy vortex（CAiV） beam with x-polarization in uniaxial crystals orthogonal to the optical axis is studied analytically and numerically. The effect of the ratio of extraordinary and ordinary refractive indices, the chirp parameter, as well as the propagation distance is analyzed, which shows that the focused position of the CAi V beams can be controlled through changing the ratio of the extraordinary and ordinary refractive indices. In addition,with the propagation distance increasing, the asymmetry of the intensity and the angular momentum of the CAi V beam during propagation becomes much more visible. The variation of the chirp parameters can change the attenuation velocity of the vortex as well.

Based on the diffraction theory of beams in uniaxial crystals, diffraction properties of a Lorentz-Gauss beam in uniaxial crystals orthogonal to the optical axis are derived in analytical forms. Diffraction fields, intensity distributions and effects of beam parameters are investigated by numerical examples, respectively. Results show that, upon propagation, initial field components and intensity distributions of Lorentz-Gauss beams would deteriorate due to effects of anisotropic media. When the Lorentz-Gauss beam diffracts into the far field, its intensity distribution would convert into a four-petal profile. Beam parameters wxand wyare shown to have a strong influence on intensity distributions. By selecting different values of them, profiles of Lorentz-Gauss beams would be different upon propagation.

We have analysed theoretically the polarization and dielectric constant of uniaxial ionic crystals, including theeffect of the nonlinear interactions between ions. The spectrum of polaritons (coupling modes of photons and opticalphonons) under nonlinear interactions was developed. A new branch of dispersion relations emerges in the originalfrequency gap.

In order to conquer the defect in low precision and small range for measuring optic axial angle based on conoscopic interference method, interference fringe method is proposed. It is not the distance deviating from melatope but fringe numbers to decide optic axial angle. Fringe numbers are divided into integer portion and decimal fraction portion, the decimal fraction portion is calculated by non-linear interpolation method and integer portion is determined by the relative placement of interference fringes in the principal section. Extremum arithmetic of digit image is proposed and can be used to determine the interference fringes conveniently and precisely. After different niobate crystals were measured, the result shows that measurement range of optic axial angle is increased efficiently and measurement error is reduced to 0.1°.
