The basic principle and features of ultrasonic phased array imaging are discussed in this paper. Through the ultrasonic phased array technology, the electron beam welding defects and frozen keyholes characterization and imaging were realized. The ultrasonic phased array technology can detect kinds of defects in electron beam welding (EBW) quickly and easily.

Phase aberration correction for medical ultrasound systems has attracted a great deal of attention. Since phased array techniques are now widely employed for industrial non-destructive testing （NDT） applications in various fields, the problem of phase aberrations in the process of NDT testing is considered. The technique of cross-covariance for phase aberration correction is presented. The performance of the technique for phase aberration correction is tested by means of echo signals obtained in practical non-destructive testing experiment. The results show that the technique has the better accuracy of phase correction.

This paper studied how to quantify circular hole in steel with ultrasonic phased array *** pulses emitted from array elements will be reflected by defects,cracks or something *** echo signals will carry the information of the *** the reflector is a circular hole,two echoes will be *** the two echoes we may obtain the size of the circular *** used the difference of the two signals’sound path to estimate the size of a series of circular holes with different diameters in *** experimental results for circular holes in steel showed that the size of these holes could be obtained with an error within 0.1mm by this quantitative *** minimum hole with diameter 0.5mm in the sample could also be quantitatively *** element method was used to simulate the ultrasonic pulses propagation in order to quantify defects *** results of the simulation agreed well with the experiments,which was very valuable for further study in quantifying defects using ultrasonic phased array.

According to the characteristics of composite materials and its possible application working environment, to make sure of using the c0 mpound material safely, through a method to test the defect of compound material is quite important. With the development of electronic technology, ultrasonic phased array is gradually used in industry nondestructive testing. This article analyses the advantages of ultrasonic phased array, choosing the ultrasonic phased array technology as the nondestructive testing method in test Compound material defect, to receive and transmit ultrasonic phased array in the process of the calculation of delay time of the array element required to control deflection and focusing of acoustic beam, and to determine the appropriate parameters of phased array probe, in order to achieve the best effect of detection. Finally, to test the model composite, and to validate the advantages of ultrasonic phased array technology in the detection of new composite materials, and has the good prospects for development.

The welding quality of the trunnion’s root welds is critical to the safety operation of ***,due to the complex structure of the detecting surface, the non-destructive testing of these welds has been a significant problem. ultrasonic phased array technology can achieve flexible and controllable ultrasound beam by changing the time delay of each element by which ultrasonic phased array technology has been widely used for the inspection of complex structure *** this paper,Omniscan MX with a 64-element phased array probe was employed in inspecting a big ladle *** results illustrate that: ultrasonic phased array obtained high signal-to-noise ratio,accurate positioning and high detection efficiency,it is proved feasible in ladle trunnion’s inspection.

Background, Motivation and Objective ultrasonic phased array technology has been widely studied and used in the field of Non-Destructive Testing. With the development of ultrasonic phased array technology, the sampling frequency gets higher and the number of independent channels increased at the same time. As a result, huge amounts of data are collected by the data acquisition module. For example, the size of data uploaded by PCI(Peripheral Component Interconnect) devices can be as much as 133 MB per second. It is hard for the CPU to finish the data processing procedure and display the result in time. However, the data collected by ultrasonic phased array system is divided into different channels inherently;the data of each channel can be processed through same algorithms with limit dependence on the data of other channels. In recent years, GPU parallel computing is developing rapidly. The GPU parallel computing is ideal for solving this kind of data-parallel computing problem. Statement of Contribution/Methods CUDA is a GPU parallel computing architecture provided by the NVIDA Corporation which is supported by most of its GPU products. With the help of CUDA, we can implement and optimize the parallel algorithm of the phased array signal processing. Open GL(Open Graphics Library) is the premier environment for developing 2D and 3D graphics applications. With the supports of these two tools, we create a software system. CUDA programs execute multiple instruction streams on different cores in GPU to realize parallel computing of input signals which includes measuring peak value, FIR filtering and FFT processing. After the data parallel in GPU, Open GL is used for displaying the 2D and 3D result image on the screen with no need to copy the data back to the internal memory. Algorithms are optimized in order to fit different data processing requirement and specific hardware in the computer. Results The test is based on Geforce GT430 GPU and Intel i5-2800@2.8GHz CPU. The scattered fields of plane waves in a solid from a cylinder or sphere are critical in determining its acoustic characteristics as well as in engineering applications. This paper investigates the scattered field distributions of different incident waves created by elastic cylinders embedded in an elastic isotropic medium. Scattered waves, including longitudinal and transverse waves both inside and outside the cylinder, are described with specific modalities under an incident plane wave. A model with a scatterer embedded in a structural steel matrix and filled with aluminum is developed for comparison with the theoretical solution. The frequency of the plane wave ranged from 235 kHz to 2348 kHz, which corresponds to scaling factors from 0.5 to 5. Scattered field distributions in matrix materials blocked by an elastic cylindrical solid have been obtained by simulation or calculated using existing parameters. The simulation results are in good agreement with the theoretical solution, which supports the correctness of the simulation analysis. Furthermore, ultrasonic phased arrays are used to study scattered fields by changing the characteristics of the incident wave. On this foundation, a partial preliminary study of the scattered field distribution of double cylinders in a solid has been carried out, and the scattered field distribution at a given distance has been found to exhibit particular behaviors at different moments. Further studies on directivities and scattered fields are expected to improve the quantification of scattered images in isotropic solid materials by the phased array technique.
