Vapor-Liquid Equilibrium Prediction of Ammonia-Ionic Liquid Working Pairs of Absorption Cycle Using unifac model

On the basis of reported experimental vapor-liquid equilibrium （VLE） data of NH3-1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate （NH3-[Emim]Ac）, NH3-1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate （NH3-[Bmim][BF4]）, NH3-1,3-dimethylimidazolium dimethyl phosphate （NH3-[Mmim]DMP） and NH3-1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium ethylsulfate （NH3-[Emim]EtOSO3） binary systems, the interaction parameters of 14 new groups have been regressed by means of the unifac model. To validate the reliability of the method, these parameters have been used to calculate the VLE data with the average relative deviation of pressures of less than 9.35%. The infinite dilution activity coefficient （ γ1∞ ） and the absorption potential （ φ1 ） are important evaluation criterions of the affinity between working pair species of the absorption cycle. The unifac model is implemented to predict the values of and φ1 of t6 sets of NH3-ionic liquid （1L） systems. The work found that the φ1 gradually increases following the impact order： φ1（[Cnmim][BF4]）〈φ1（[Cnmim]EtOSO3）〈φ1（[Cnmim]DMP）〈φ1（[Cnmim]Ac）（n= 1, 2, 3, … ） at a given cation of IL species and constant temperature, and φ1（[Mmim]X）〈φ1（[Emim]X）〈φ1（[Pmim]X）〈 φ1（[Bmim]X）（X= Ac, [BF4], DMP or EtOSO3） at a given anion of IL species and constant temperature. Furthermore, the φ1 gradually increases with increasing temperature. Then, it could be concluded that the working pair NH3-[BmimlAc has the best potential research value relatively.

The benzene and acetonitrile azeotropic mixture was proposed to be separated by extractive distillation using an ionic liquid(IL)as the *** suitable IL was selected by the COSMO-RS model,and 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate([EMIM][BF_(4)])was considered as the suitable entrainer mainly due to its high selectivity,low viscosity,and low *** experimental vapor pressure data of the IL-containing systems(benzene+[EMIM][BF_(4)]and acetonitrile+[EMIM][BF_(4)])were measured in the full concentration *** results show that acetonitrile has a stronger interaction with IL than benzene,and the low deviations between the experimental and unifac predicted values show the reliability of the UNFIAC *** unifac predicted vapor-liquid equilibrium data of the benzene+acetonitrile+dimethyl sulfoxide(DMSO)/[EMIM][BF_(4)]system show that the relative volatility of benzene to acetonitrile is higher when the entrainer is[EMIM][BF_(4)].The process simulation results show that[EMIM][BF_(4)]can reduce the material and energy consumptions compared with DMSO.

To get high purity caprolactam is a challenging task in the chemical fiber industry. To date, reports on the prediction of the distribution of caprolactam and its derivative chemicals have been few. In this study, the extraction of caprolactam with toluene as the extractant and N-methyl caprolactam with benzene and toluene as theextractants has been camed out. By defining new unifac groups and calibrating related interaction parameters, aunifac method was introduced to predict the equilibrium concentration of caprolactam and methyl caprolactam intoluene or benzene extraction processes. The calculated results fit very well With the experimental data. Using theunifac model, the selectivity of extractants can be predicted.

Anthropogenic carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions are mainly caused by combustion of carbon-based fuels, primarily coal, oil, and natural gas. Particularly, CO2 capture and separation processes in pre-combustion, post combustion, oxy-fuel combustion, and natural gas sweetening mainly employ eco-unfriendly high volatile capturing media such as amines and methanol. However, with regard to the establishment, development, and expansion of the carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) projects, new environmentally benign capturing media should be developed as substitutes for traditional detrimental CO2 capturing *** liquids (ILs) known as "green solvents" and also "designer solvents", possess several favorable properties to trap CO2 as well as to be combined with other materials to form novel capturing media with favorable structures for high performance on CO2 uptakes. Thus, new promising IL-incorporated CO2 capturing media have recently been studied by *** summary, amine groups have been attached to either the cation or anion of the IL in order to include high CO2 capacity of amines in ILs. Reversible ILs have been synthesized with high chemical stability and less required regeneration energy compared to the amine solvents. Supported liquid membranes (SLMs) utilize ILs as their selective materials-due to low volatility, high viscosity, and high CO2 capacity of the ILs-to enhance stabilization and CO2 selectivity of the SLMs. Various porous materials such as metal organic frameworks (MOFs) and silicas have been impregnated with ILs to tune their pores morphology to achieve strong desirable selective interactions between CO2 and the porous ***, by conducting a sequence of laboratory experimental works, solubility data of CO2 in the IL [AMIM]+[Tf2N]", 1-allyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide, methanol (CH3OH), and their mixtures at different combinations of CH3OH and IL (80 wt% IL+20 wt% CH3OH,50 wt% IL+50 wt% CH3OH, and 20 w

Determination and Prediction of Binary Solubility for Aromatic-Tetraethylene Glycol (with Water) Systems

The binary solubilities of tetraethylene glycol (TTEG) with benzene, toluene or p xylene, were measured by the turbidity point method. In TTEG the content of water ranged from 0 to 5% and the test temperature ranged from 20℃ to 120℃. Increasing the temperature resulted in greater solubility of the aromatics in TTEG, while increasing the content of water caused the aromatic solubility to decrease. The benzene solubillity in TTEG was the greatest followed by toluene and xylene at the same water content and temperature. The mutual solubility was predicted by correlating the paramaters of a new group for the unifac model for the aromatics extraction system. The modified unifac group contribution model was used to predict the binary solubility of TTEG and aromatics. The average deviation between the experimental result and prediction is 4.06%. Therefore, the unifac model can be used to describe the solubility phenomena for TTEG aromatics systems.
