This research is designed to investigate the relationship between the 24-h movement guidelines(24-HMG)and self-reported academic achievement(AA)using nationally representative data derived from the 2019 u.s.National Youth Risk Behaviour survey.A multiple-stage cluster sampling procedure has been adopted to ensure a representative sample(N=9127 adolescents;mean age=15.7 years old;male%=49.8%).Logistic regression has been adopted to obtain the odds ratio(OR)regarding the associations between adherence to 24-HMG and AA while controlling for ethnicity,body mass index,sex and age.The prevalence of meeting the 24-h movement guidelines in isolation and combination varied greatly(physical activity=23.3%,screen time=32.5%,sleep=22.3%,and 24-HMG=2.8%),while the percentage of highest-class AA was 42.5%.Compared with the situation when none of 24-HMG is met,the achievement of any of the combined guidelines(except for meeting the physical activity guidelines)was significantly associated with higher odds of achieving first-class AA.Meeting the sleep guideline had 1.42 times increased likelihood to achieve highest-class AA as compared with not meeting the sleep guideline.Meeting screen time guidelines and physical activity guidelines,respectively,were 1.32 and 1.13 times more likely to report first-class AA;but meeting the guidelines of physical activity was not significantly related to AA.Meeting the 24-HMG had the highest odds of achieving first-class AA(OR=2.01,95%CI:1.47-2.73).In both sexes,adolescents who met 24-HMG self-reported better AA(boys OR=2.05,95%CI:1.34-3.15;girls OR=2.26,95%CI:1.36-3.76).significant relationships were observed in adolescents from 9-10th grade,but not higher grades.Our research findings suggest that optimal movement behaviou.s.can be seen as an important element to better academic achievement among u.s.adolescents.Future studies can adopt our discoveries to promote adolescents’academic achievement through implementing optimal 24-h movement behaviour patterns.

Applying qualitative and quantitative methods, this article explains the driving forces behind u.s. President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw from the Paris Agreement, assesses the impacts of this withdrawal on the compliance prospects of the agreement, and proposes how China should respond. The withdrawal undercu.s.the foundation of global climate governance and u.s.ts the process of climate cooperation, and the impacts are manifold. The withdrawal undermines the universality of the Paris Agreement and impairs states' confidence in climate cooperation; it aggravates the leadership deficit in addressing global climate issu.s.and sets a bad precedent for international climate cooperation. The withdrawal reduces other countries' emission space and raises their emission costs, and refusal to contribute to climate aid makes it more difficult for developing countries to mitigate and adapt to climate change. Cutting climate research funding will compromise the quality of future IPCC reports and ultimately undermine the scientific authority of future climate negotiations. China faces mounting pressure from the international community to assume global climate leadership after the u.s. withdraws, and this article proposes that China should reach the high ends of its domestic climate targets under the current Nationally Determined Contributions; internationally, China should facilitate the rebuilding of shared climate leadership, replacing the G2 with C5. Meanwhile, China needs to keep the u.s. engaged in climate cooperation.

Based on the Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) model and scenario analysis, the impacts of the u.s. withdrawal from the Paris Agreement on the carbon emission space and mitigation cost in China, European union (Eu), and Japan are assessed under Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and 2 C scenarios due to the changed emission pathway of the u.s. The results show that, under the condition of constant global cumulative carbon emissions and a fixed burden-sharing scheme among countries, the failure of the u.s. to honor its NDC commitment to different degrees will increase the u.s. carbon emission space and decrease its mitigation cost. However, the carbon emission space of other parties, including China, Eu, and Japan, will be reduced and their mitigation costs will be increased. In 2030, under the 2 C target, the carbon price will increase by 4.4e14.6 us$ t1 in China, by 9.7e35.4 us$ t1 in the Eu, and by 16.0e53.5 us$ t1 in Japan. In addition, China, Eu, and Japan will incur additional Gross Domestic Production (GDP) loss. under the 2 C target, the GDP loss of China would increase by us$22.0e71.1 billion (equivalent to 16.4e53.1 us$ per capita), the Eu.s.GDP loss would increase by us$9.4e32.1 billion (equivalent to 20.7e71.1 us$ per capita), and Japan's GDP loss will increase by us$4.1e13.5 billion (equivalent to 34.3e111.6 us$ per capita).

The global community has prepared for the withdrawal of the u.s. from the Paris Agreement since Donald Trump was elected as the president of the u.s. However, Trump's formal declaration of withdrawal still caused worldwide reaction. Trump will use the withdrawal to build his political reputation and to renegotiate the Paris Agreement despite its negative effects on the political credibility, international relationships, and potential long-term economic growth of the u.s. In general, the withdrawal of the u.s. from the Paris Agreement will not change the development of low-carbon technologies and the transformation trend of the global climate governance regime. However, the long-term goals and international cooperation on climate change will be affected by budget cu.s.in American climate change research and the cancelation of donations from the multilateral environmental fund of the u.s. If the Paris Agreement is renegotiated, the common but differentiated principle of responsibility of the united Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change will be challenged again. Nevertheless, climate change governance remains a main theme of future sustainable development. Instead of national governments, local governments and non-governmental organizations will develop strategies for technical innovation and emphasize pragmatic cooperation, thus expanding their roles in climate change governance. The capacity building on climate change research and public awareness should be enhanced as a long-term objective of global climate change governance.

On May 12 and 13,the u.s.-AsEAN special summit was held in the united states,the second such summit since 2016.The meeting,once“indefinitely postponed”by the White House,was the first chance for AsEAN leaders to meet u.s.President Joe Biden since he took office.The presidents of the Philippines and Myanmar were absent from the summit.President Biden announced that the summit heralded a new era of partnership between the u.s.and AsEAN,and told the AsEAN leaders at the summit that“a great deal of history of our world in the next 50 years is going to be written in the AsEAN countries,and our relationship with you is the future,in the coming years and decades.”

The world＇s present demand for oil and gas is still in a rapid growth period, and traditional oil and gas resources account for more than 60% of the global oil and gas supply. The Americas is the world＇s second largest production and consumption center of liquid fuel, and is also the world＇s largest natural gas producer. In 2016, the Americas had 85.3 billion tons of proven oil reserves and 18.7 trillion m3 of proven natural gas reserves, which account for 35.4% and 10.0% of world＇s total reserves, respectively. It produced 1267.1 Mt of oil and 1125.4 billion m3 of natural gas, which account for 28.9% and 31.7% of the world＇s total production, respectively. The crude oil and natural gas reserves are mainly distributed in the u.s., Canada and Venezuela. The u.s. is the earliest and most successful country in shale gas exploration and development, and its shale gas is concentrated in the southern, central and eastern u.s., including the Marcellcus shale, Barnett shale, EagleFord shale, Bakken shale, Fayettevis shale, Haynsvill shale, Woodford shale and Monterey/santos shale. The potential oil and gas resources in the Americas are mainly concentrated in the anticline and stratigraphic traps in the Middle- upper Jurassic slope deposition of the North slope Basin, the Paleozoic Madsion group dolomite and limestone in the Williston Basin, dominant stratigraphic traps and few structural traps in the Western Canada sedimentary Basin, the Eocene structural-stratigraphic hydrocarbon combination, structural- unconformity traps and structural hydrocarbon combination, and the upper Miocene stratigraphic- structural hydrocarbon combination in the Maracaibo Basin of Venezuela, the stratigraphic-structural traps and fault horst, tilting faulted blocks and anticlines related to su.s.lt structure and basement activity in the Campos Basin, the su.s.lt central low-uplift belt and supra-salt central low-uplift belt in the santos Basin of Brazil, and the structural-stratigraphic traps in the Neuquen Basin of Argentina.
