A three-dimensional two-level gradient smoothing meshfree method for rainfall induced landslide simulations

A three-dimensional two-level gradient smoothing meshfree method is presented for rainfall induced landslide simulations. The two-level gradient smoothing for meshfree shape function is elaborated in the threedimensional Lagrangian setting with detailed implementation procedure. It is shown that due to the successive gradient smoothing operation without the requirement of derivative computation in the present formulation, the two-level smoothed gradient of meshfree shape function is capable of achieving a given influence domain more efficiently than the standard gradient of meshfree shape function. Subsequently, the two-level smoothed gradient of meshfree shape function is employed to discretize the weak form of coupled rainfall seepage and soil motion equations in a nodal integration format, as provides an efficient three-dimensional regularized meshfree formulation for large deformation rainfall induced landslide simulations. The exponential damage and pressure dependent plasticity relationships are utilized to describe the failure evolution in landslides. The plastic response of soil is characterized by the true effective stress measure, which is updated according to the rotationally neutralized objective integration algorithm. The effectiveness of the present threedimensional two?level gradient smoothing meshfree method is demonstrated through numerical examples.

In this paper,we first propose a new stabilized finite element method for the Stokes eigenvalue *** new method is based on multiscale enrichment,and is derived from the Stokes eigenvalue problem *** convergence of this new stabilized method is proved and the optimal priori error estimates for the eigenfunctions and eigenvalues are also ***,we combine this new stabilized finite element method with the two-level method to give a new two-level stabilized finite element method for the Stokes eigenvalue ***,we have proved a priori error estimates for this new two-level stabilized ***,numerical examples confirm our theoretical analysis and validate the high effectiveness of the new methods.

two-level reconstruction of isolated fracture of the lesser tuberosity of the humerus

Fractures of the lesser tuberosity of the humerus are typically met in combination with other injuries of the shoulder. Case reports of isolated lesser tuberosity fractures are particularly rare and, consequently,therapeutic protocols have not yet been completely clarified. Conservative as well as surgical treatment has been recommended, while several operative techniques have been applied. We present a case of a 39-yearold man with an isolated lesser tuberosity fracture who was treated surgically in our institution. Due to fracture comminution, a two-level reconstruction technique with headless screws and buttress plate was applied. As far as we know, this method of fixation of this type of fracture has not been previously described in the *** patient tolerated the procedure well and excellent results were obtained at the latest follow-up.

A two-level Additive Schwarz Preconditioner for Local C^0 Discontinuous Galerkin Methods of Kirchhoff Plates

A two-level additive Schwarz preconditioner based on the overlapping domain decomposition approach is proposed for the local C0 discontinuous Galerkin (LCDG) method of Kirchhoff *** with the help of an intergrid transfer operator and its error estimates,it is proved that the condition number is bounded by O(1 + (H4/δ4)),where H is the diameter of the subdomains and δ measures the overlap among *** for some special cases of small overlap,the estimate can be improved as O(1 + (H3/δ3)).At last,some numerical results are reported to demonstrate the high efficiency of the two-level additive Schwarz preconditioner.

A DISCRETE TIME two-level MIXED SERVICE PARALLEL POLLING MODEL

We present a discrete time single-server two-level mixed service polling systems with two queue types, one center queue and N normal queues. two-level means the center queue will be successive served after each normal queue. In the first level, server visits between the center queue and the normal queue. In the second level, normal queues are polled by a cyclic order. Mixed service means the service discipline are exhaustive for center queue, and parallel 1-limited for normal queues. We propose an imbedded Markov chain framework to drive the closed-form expressions for the mean cycle time, mean queue length, and mean waiting time. Numerical examples demonstrate that theoretical and simulation results are identical the new system efficiently differentiates priorities.

A two-level Purchase Problem for Food Retailing in Japan

In this paper, we deal with a purchase problem for food retailing, and formulate a two-level linear programming problem with a food retailer and a distributer. The food retailer deals with vegetables and fruits which are purchased from the distributer;the distributer buys vegetables and fruits ordered from the food retailer at the central wholesale markets in several cities, and transports them by truck from each of the central wholesaler markets to the food retailer’s storehouse. We solve the two-level linear programming problem in which the profits of the food retailer and the distributer are maximized.

Interactive Fuzzy Programming for Random Fuzzy two-level Integer Programming Problems through Fractile Criteria with Possibility

This paper considers two-level integer programming problems involving random fuzzy variables with cooperative behavior of the decision makers. Considering the probabilities that the decision makers’ objective function values are smaller than or equal to target variables, fuzzy goals of the decision makers are introduced. Using the fractile criteria to optimize the target variables under the condition that the degrees of possibility with respect to the attained probabilities are greater than or equal to certain permissible levels, the original random fuzzy two-level integer programming problems are reduced to deterministic ones. Through the introduction of genetic algorithms with double strings for nonlinear integer programming problems, interactive fuzzy programming to derive a satisfactory solution for the decision maker at the upper level in consideration of the cooperative relation between decision makers is presented. An illustrative numerical example demonstrates the feasibility and efficiency of the proposed method.

The binary extended Golay code has a two-level structure, which can be used in the decoding of the code. However, such structure is not limited to the Golay code, in fact, several binary linear codes can be constructed by a projective method which is related to the structure. In this correspondence, the binary (4n,n + 2k, ≥min(8, n,2d)) linear codes are resulted from quaternary (n,k,d) linear block codes. Based on the structure, the efficient maximum likelihood decoding algorithms can be presented correspondingly for the derived codes.
