Background:three-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography(3 D-STE) is a new technology used to determine myocardial strain which overcomes the drawbacks of two-dimensional(2 D) tomographic imaging and errors associated with the "out of plane" ***,different vendors’ ultrasound systems need its own analysis packages to obtain strain values from 3 D STE.A validation of the variations in strain values between different ultrasound systems is *** in vitro study calculated longitudinal strain(LS) from the different ultrasound systems before and after myocardial infarct using a vendor-independent analysis software package(TomTec’s 4 D LV Analysis) to validate the variation of two ultrasound ***:Ten freshly harvested porcine hearts were *** heart was passively driven by a pulsatile pump apparatus at stroke volumes(SV) 300 *** crystals were sutured on the myocardium to acquire reference data for myocardial strain ***-volume 3 DE data was acquired before and after a simulated myocardial infarction(MI) using two different ultrasound systems(GE Vivid E9 and Philips IE 33).Longitudinal strains(LS) were derived from TomTec and validated against sonomicrometry ***:Linear regression analyses showed excellent correlations between TomTec calculated longitudinal strain values and sono-micrometry data for both normal and simulated MI groups(GE:R=0.72/0.68,Philip:R=0.71/0.66).Bland-Altman analyses demonstrated overestimation of echo-derived strain values for all *** ultrasound system derived strain values demonstrated decreased strain values after MI,the average change in strain after infarct was roughly 30%in GE images and 25%in Philips ***:Both GE Vivid E9 and Philips IE33 echocardiographic systems were able to be analyzed with TomTec’s program and these images correlated well with sono-micrometry with acceptable ***’s 4 D LV-Analysis program has the ability to an
