The effects of the thermal state of overriding continental plate on subduction dynamics: Two-dimensional thermal-mechanical modeling

The dynamic process of ocean-continent subduction depends on not only the properties of the subducting oceanic plate,but also the characteristics and state of the overriding continental *** models conducted to date have mostly focused on the oceanic lithosphere in this regard;research on the properties of overriding continental lithosphere remains relatively limited,especially the influence of its thermal state on subduction *** we explored the performance of continental lithosphere with different thermal states during the subduction process using two-dimensional thermal-mechanical modeling and systematically investigated the effects of the thermal state of overriding continental plate,the age of subducting oceanic plate,and relative convergence rate on subduction *** results show that:(1)When the geothermal gradient of continental crust is low(between 10 and 15℃km^-1),the oceanic plate first subducts at a low *** subduction continues,the slab dip gradually increases and the slab begins to retreat rapidly driven by its negative buoyancy,opening an ocean basin ranging from 600 to 1100 km in *** leads to the decoupling between the overriding continental plate and oceanic *** the trench retreat continues,the horizontal deviatoric stress inside the overriding continental crust alternates between being positive and negative in a local *** of the overriding lithosphere mainly occurs at the region adjacent to the subduction zone,where the surface experiences significant subsidence.(2)When the geothermal gradient of continental crust is higher(greater than 15℃km-1),oceanic plate retreat causes the overriding continental plate to be strongly *** this case,the trench retreat distance decreases and the width of the ocean basin also reduces by between 100 and 1000 *** horizontal deviatoric stress inside the whole overriding continental crust first manifests as compression and then changes into extension,

Steel Temperature Compensating Model With Multi-Factor Coupling Based on Ladle thermal state

Combined with the parameters of the production process of a steel factory, numerical simulations for a new ladle from preheating to turnover are conducted using the finite element analysis system software （ANSYS）. The measured data proved that the simulated results are reliable. The effects of preheating time, thermal cycling times, and empty package time on steel temperature are calculated, an ideal preheating time is provided, besides, based on the analysis of a single factor and use the nonlinear analysis method, a steel temperature compensating model with di- versified coupling factors is proposed, with the largest error of the present coupling model at 1. 462 ~C, and the er- rors between actual and target steel temperature in tundish after the model is applied to practical production are basi- cally controlled within -4-6 ~C, which can meet the accuracy of the manufacturer and has a practical guiding significance for the production in steelmaking workshops.

Hybrid linear amplifier-involved detection for continuous variable quantum key distribution with thermal states

Continuous-variable quantum key distribution(CVQKD)can be integrated with thermal states for short-distance wireless quantum ***,its performance is usually restricted with the practical thermal *** propose a method to improve the security threshold of thermal-state(TS)CVQKD by employing a heralded hybrid linear amplifier(HLA)at the *** find the effect of thermal noise on the HLA-involved scheme in near-and-mid infrared band or terahertz band for direct and reverse *** simulations show that the HLA-involved scheme can compensate for the detriment of thermal noise and hence increase the security threshold of *** near-and-mid infrared band,security threshold can be extended by 2.1 dB in channel loss for direct reconciliation and 1.6 dB for reverse reconciliation,whereas in terahertz band,security threshold can be slightly enhanced for the gain parameter less than 1 due to the rise in thermal noise.

Analysis of Vanadium-Bearing Titanomagnetite Sintering Process by Dissection of Sintering Bed

Many problems appear in the sintering process of vanadium-bearing titanomagnetite, such as high energy consumption and low productivity; simer quality is also very poor for its low tumble strength and high reduction deg- radation. Sinter productivity and quality are dominated by bed permeability and mineralogy structure, which are highly influenced by the thermal state of sintering bed, so the sintering process of titanomagnetite is researched by bed dissection in this work. Temperature evolution curves of sinter materials were measured, and the results show that melting duration, peak temperature duration and sintering temperature of different layers differ greatly from each other; flame front speed and vertical sintering speed of bed lower region are much smaller than those of bed up- per region. Simultaneously, sinter samples were collected from different layers, and their mineralogy characteristics are analyzed; sinters from bed lower region have poor mineralogy structure, and the amounts of perovskite and dieM- cium silicate increase intensively, which are bad for sinter strength and reduction degradation property. Measures are proposed to improve the quality and productivity of titanomagnetite sinter.

Numerical Simulation of thermal and Iron Ore Reduction Conditions in Pre-reduction Shaft Furnace Based on Reducing Gas Composition and Temperature

Based on the principles of mass,momentum and heat transfers between the reducing gas and the iron ore solid,a two-dimensional mathematical model for above two phases is established to study the influences of reducing gas composition on thermal and reduction conditions in pre-reduction shaft furnace with the temperature ranging from 1 023 to 1 223 *** to the strong endothermic effect of iron ore reduction participated by hydrogen （H2）,increasing the ratio of carbon monoxide（CO）to H2 enlarges high temperature zone under present calculation conditions,thus improves reduction efficiency inside the *** addition,replacing of the reducing gas with an appropriate proportion of nitrogen（N2）featuring the same temperature has a potential to reduce fuel consumption by as much as 6.5%while the products of similar quality are yielded.

Electrical Structure of Yarlung Zangbo Suture from Magnetotelluric Profiling of INDEPTH-MT

The INDEPTH MT results show that there are no electrical features of deep fractures along the Yarlung Zangbo River, but a large high conductivity body exists in the area between Gyangze and Rinbung. It dips northward, extends downward up to the depth of about 55 km and indicates the exposure of the possible real position of the Yarlung Zangbo suture. There are three sets of electrical gradient and distorted zones reflecting the structure of faults in the high conductivity region. These three fault belts, which dip northward and gradually converge downward to the main fault belt, and a series of south dipping faults in the north side form the exhaled structural characteristics of the Yarlung Zangbo suture. There is a close relationship between the large high conductivity body and the underground thermal state.
