Efficient renal clearance of DNA tetrahedron nanopartides enables quantitative evaluation of kidney function

DNA tetrahedro n nano structure (DTN) is one of the simplest DNA nano structures and has bee n successfully applied for biose nsin g, imagi ng, and treatment of can cer. To facilitate its biomedical applications and pote ntial clinical tran slation, fun dame ntal un derstandi ng of DTN's transportation among major organs in living organisms becomes increasingly important. Here, we describe the efficient renal clearanee of DTN in healthy mice by using positron emission tomography (PET) imaging. The kidney elimination of DTN was later applied for renal function evaluation in murine models of unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO). We further established a mathematical program of DTN to validate its changes of transportation pattern in healthy and UUO mice. We believe the establishment of pharmacokinetic profiles and mathematical model of DTN may provide in sight for future optimization of DNA nano structures for biomedical applications.

Numerical Experiment for Dipole-Dipole Interaction in Electro-Magnetism with Help of a Regular tetrahedron

Aim of this work is to try to explain, on a Rational basis, some equations of Electro-Magnetism, which are based on Experimental data. Any Electric Field can produce a Field of many small Electric Dipoles, continuously distributed in space. In a region, where the Electric Field is constant, in direction and magnitude, all the small Dipoles are parallel to the Electric Field, and are represented by a single, long, parallel to them, fixed in space, Electric Dipole, which is here called Compass. An Alternating current, in a straight Conductor, is studied, by a simple, short computer program, for step-by-step nonlinear dynamic analysis. It is found that, only an Alternating current, not a direct current, can produce an Electric Dipole, in a straight Conductor. The two above Dipoles (Compass-Conductor) are assumed with equal lengths ℓ, lying on two skew lines, perpendicular to each other, at a distance ℓ√2, thus forming, by their four ends, a Regular tetrahedron, with side length ℓ. Repulsion, between Like Charges, obeys the simple Coulomb Electro-Static law. Whereas Interaction (Attraction or Repulsion), between Unlike Charges, obeys a more accurate Lennard-Jones law. The analysis of Dipole-Dipole (Compass-Conductor) Interaction is performed by hand calculator. The only out-of-balance forces, in the regular tetrahedron, acting on the Rigid Conductor, are the so-called magnetic forces. Their direction is found, in a simple Rational way, with help of Regular tetrahedron, without recoursing to a “right-hand-rule”. The proposed model is applied to 1) The force acting on an Electric Charge moving in a magnetic field. 2) The force acting on a Current carrying straight Conductor, due to a magnetic field. 3) The magnetic fields created around a Current carrying straight Conductor. In these applications, proposed model gives reasonable results. Particularly, in third application, results, obtained by proposed model, are found in satisfactory approximation with

For a model elhptic boundary value problem we will prove that on strongly regular families of uniform tetrahedral partitions of a pohyhedral domain, the gradient of the quadratic finite element approximation is superclose to the gradient of the quadratic La-grange interpolant of the exact solution. This supercloseness will be used to construct a post-processing that increases the order of approximation to the gradient in the global L^2-norm。

Rigid origami has great potential in aerospace applications,especially deployable polyhedrons with one degree of freedom(DOF)and flat-foldability,whose types are few to *** this paper,we create a novel foldable cube and a rhombic dodecahedron by introducing slits and diagonal creases to the surfaces,whose one-DOF rigid and flat-foldable properties are verified by kinematic ***,based on the isohedral quadrilateral transform,we project the creases and slits of the rhombic dodecahedron onto a tetrahedron to obtain a novel foldable tetrahedron that has two flat-foldable motion paths due to the existence of collinear *** the second path,unnecessary creases are removed,and an origami tetrahedron with simplified creases is *** origami tetrahedrons possess a small folded *** analysis reveals that these newly discovered origami polyhedrons are flat-foldable with one DOF,demonstrating favorable application prospects for space architectures and extraterrestrial habitats.

In this paper,we will prove the derivative of tetrahedral quadratic finite element ap-proximation is superapproximate to the derivative of the quadratic Lagrange interpolant of the exact solution in the L^∞-norm, which can be used to enhance the accuracy of the derivative of tetrahedral quadratic finite element approximation to the derivative of the exact solution。

Solvent-dependent evolution of cyclic penta-twinned rhodium icosahedral nanocrystals and their enhanced catalytic properties

Cyclic penta-twinned noble metal nanocrystals exhibit promising properties due to their unique geometric and electronic structures. However, the controlled synthesis of cyclic penta-twinned nanostructures, especially of noble metals with a high cohesive energy （e.g., Rh）, is very difficult, and the corresponding growth mechanism is not fully understood. Herein, we report a facile one-pot hydrothermal approach for the synthesis of cyclic penta-twinned Rh icosahedral nanocrystals. It was found that apart from regulating the surface free energy by changing the concentration or category of the capping agents, the solvent might influence the adsorption ability of the surfactant on the Rh crystal surface, which results in a change in the surface free energy and thus allows the formation of Rh cyclic penta-twinned nanostructures. In addition, due to their unique electronic and geometric structures, the Rh icosahedral nanocrystals exhibit superior catalytic activity and stability for the electrooxidation of ethanol as compared to single-crystal Rh tetrahedral nanocrystals and commercial Rh black.

Structure and Pozzolanic Activity of Calcined Coal Gangue during the Process of Mechanical Activation

On the basis of analyzing coal gangue＇s chemical and mineral compositions, the structure change of coal gangue during the mechanical activation was investigated by XRD, FTIR, NMR, and the mechanical strength of the cement doped coal gangue with various specific surface area was tested. The experimental results indicate that, the lattice structure of metakaolin in coal gangue samples calcined at 700 ℃ disorganizes gradually and becomes disordered, and the lattice structure of α-quartz is distorted slightly. The pozzolanic activity of the coal gangue increases obviously with its structural disorganization.

Bi25Fe O40 is an important member of ternary metal oxides with a body-centered cubic crystal structure（space group I23）. Researches have revealed that this kind metal oxide usually exhibits excellent photorefractive, photochromic, electrooptic and dielectric properties. In addition, sillenite-type Bi25 Fe O40 materials can be regarded as an ideal visible-light-driven photocatalysts due to its excellent mobility of photo-generated charges, strong oxidizability of photo-induced holes and relative small band-gap（＜2.8 e V）. In this paper, novel Bi25 Fe O40 tetrahedrons can be easily prepared via a mild hydrothermal synthesis strategy. The phases and morphologies of the sample were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction（XRD） and scanning electron microscopy（SEM）. As shown in Fig. 1a, it can be clearly seen that the Bi25 Fe O40 product is comprised of many tetrahedrons. The XRD pattern shown in Fig.1b illustrates that all the diffraction peaks can be matched to a pure Bi25 Fe O20, which is consistent with the reported data（JCPDS file Card No. 046-0416）. No other diffraction peaks from any impurity is found.
