Protective effect of tetracera scandens *** extract against CCl_4-induced acute liver injury in rats

Objective:To investigate the protective potential of ethanolic extracts of tetracera scandens L.(***) against CCl_4 induced oxidative stress in liver ***:Dried leaf powder of *** was extracted with ethanol and concentrated to yield a dry *** were administered with 100 mg/kg of ethanolic extracts orally once daily for one *** were subsequently administered with a single dose of CCl_4(I mL/kg body weight,intraperitoneal injection).Various assays,such as serum levels of alanine aminotransferase,aspartate aminotransferase,lipid peroxidation,protein oxidation(carbonyl protein group),tumor necrosis factor alpha,catalase,superoxide dismutase,and glutathione peroxidase,were used to assess damage caused by CCl_4 and the protective effects of the ethanol extract on liver ***:Hepatotoxicity induced by CCl_4 was evidenced by a significant increase in serum aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase level,lipid peroxidation,protein carbonyl group,and tumor necrosis factor alpha,as well as decreased activity of the hepatic antioxidant enzymes(*** *** glutathione peroxidase).Treatment with ethanolic *** extracts prevented all of these typically observed changes in CCl_4-treated ***:Our findings indicate that *** has a significant protective effect against CCl_4 induced hepatotoxicity in *** may be due to its antioxidant properties.

Content Determination of Total Flavonoids in tetracera asiatica from 10 Different Production Areas in Guangxi

[Objectives] To determine the content of total flavonoids in tetracera asiatica from different production areas in Guangxi and provide a basis for improving the quality standards of crude drug. [Methods] Using 50% ethanol as extractor,NaNO_2-Al(NO_3)_3-NaOH as chromogenic system and rutin as the reference substance,the content of total flavonoids from the crude drug was determined. [Results] A method for determining the content of total flavonoids was established,the content of total flavonoids was 11.35-21.35 mg·g^(-1),and the average content was 17.64 mg·g^(-1). [Conclusions] The method had high repeatability and stability,and the method was simple,rapid and sensitive and suitable for quantitative analysis.

HPLC Fingerprint Chromatogram of tetracera asiatica Produced in Guangxi

[Objectives] To establish fingerprint chromatogram of tetracera asiatica and provide basis for controlling and assessing the quality of tetracera asiatica.[Methods] The high-performance liquid chromatography( HPLC) method was used. Phenomenex C18( 5 μm,4. 6 ×250 mm),acetonitrile-0. 1% phosphoric acid water,gradient elution,flow rate 1 m L/min,detection wavelength 214 nm,and column temperature 25 ℃. The fingerprint chromatogram of 10 batches of samples of tetracera asiatica was determined for similarity comparison. [Results] It established HPLC fingerprint chromatogram of tetracera asiatica produced in Guangxi,determined a total of 13 common fingerprint peaks. The similarity of 10 batches of tetracera asiatica was > 0. 9.[Conclusions] The method is rapid and accurate and can provide references for assessing the quality of tetracera asiatica.
