The mechanism and heterogeneity of environmental regulations'impact on the technological progress of dairy farming

The study analyses the theoretical mechanism through which environmental regulation affects the dairy industry’s technological progress,with a particular focus on how the effect is conditional on farm *** the input–output data of dairy farms of different sizes from 2009 to 2019 in 10 Chinese provinces/autonomous regions in China and the quantitative measurement index of environmental regulation,the study estimates environmental regulation’s heterogeneous influences on the dairy industry’s technological progress by dynamic panel data *** empirical results suggest that,first,environmental regulation has a U-type influence on the technological progress of dairy *** U-type influence means moving from pollution control’s high cost and low technology progress to the high profit and high innovation input generated by optimizing the breeding ***,the promotion of dairy farming technology depends on farm *** effect of environmental regulation on technological progress in moderately large-farms showed a U-type *** contrast,the effect in free-range and large-size dairy farms showed a linear and positive *** government should further strengthen environmental regulation based on advancing moderately large-farms in compliance with market mechanisms in the long *** attention should be paid to the forms of environmental regulation so that dairy cattle breeding technology can break through the inflection point of the“U”curve as soon as possible and ensure the significance of the rising *** the way,technical support should be provided for realizing environmental protection and economic growth.

Impact of technological progress and Industrial Structure Distortion on Energy Intensity in China

The paper measures the industrial structure distortion(ISD)index by region in China from 1978 to 2016 using data on employment and output shares of the three *** also analyzes the impact of ISDs by region on energy intensity using a spatial panel *** results show that since the reform and opening up,the ISD index by region has declined significantly,with the lowest index in the eastern region,the medium one in the central region and the highest in the western *** estimated results of the spatial econometric model indicate that there is a significant inter-regional dependence of energy intensity in China;there is a significant indirect effect of ISD,despite no significant direct effect on energy intensity;in terms of total effect,ISD is an important factor inhibiting the decline of energy *** results also unveil that higher energy prices and foreign trade are positive factors declining energy intensity,while FDI worsens energy intensity and R&D spending has no significant positive impact on curbing energy *** order to reduce energy intensity,China should work to eliminate the micro cause of ISDs,promote the transfer of agricultural labor,establish a market-oriented mechanism for energy price formation,and enhance the efficiency of R&D spending.

Changes in Total Factor Productivity,technological progress and Efficiency of Banana Industry in China

Based on the DEA-based Malmquist index method,the total factor productivity was calculated for 5 major banana production areas in 2003-2004,and it was further divided into technological progress and technical *** results show that the total factor productivity of banana industry in China was 1.3% in the sample period,mainly due to technological progress,the average growth rate was 2.6%,while the pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency was -0.1% and -1.2% *** improvement of total factor productivity in banana industry in China relied mainly on technological progress,cultivation of new banana varieties,management of high quality cultivation,popularization and application of water conservation and fertilizer saving technology,and injury-free picking *** pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency of banana production were negative,indicating that the management level of banana was not *** effect of scale economy of this industry through agglomeration and consolidation is still to be *** growers should promote the improvement of large scale and management level of the banana industry at the same time of promoting the technological progress.

technological progress can promote rapid growth of the economy while costing vast amount of resources and heavily increasing ecological environment burden. The progress of technology development is currently facing dual pressures, to both promote economic growth and development and to reduce pollution of ecological environment. This article will put technological progress, economy and ecological environment in a uniform framework to research and analyze the associated mechanism among the three. It will provide empirical analysis through statistical yearbook data. Finally, it will draw a conclusion that the promotion of quality due to technological progress is the critical path for the coordinated development of technology, economy and ecological environment.

Seen globally, technological progress has been playing an important role in economic growth. Statistics from both China and USA provides sound data in supporting this point. The importance of arguing the effects of technological progress has gained more and more attention, especially with respect to employment studies, for human being pursues both economic growth and full employment. From an industrial angle of view, choosing the type of technological progress varies in the three industries, which results in the variation of employment trends. Although the relationship between technological progress and employment problem seems complicated, it is instructive and valuable finding ways to implement positive policies of employment.

This article has summarized China’s western region’s characteristics of attracting and utilizing fo reign capital from 1986-2010. It has described the present situa- tion that the distribution of FDI here is unbalanced and the ability of absorbing foreign investment of this region is weak. TFP of the provinces in China’ Western Region has been calculated, and been used to measure technological progress. Through constructing VAB Model, this article has empiri- cally analyzed the relationship between FDI and TFP. The result proves that FDI has some facilitation to the technolo- gi cal progress of China’s Western Region, but is not very significant. In the process of attracting and using foreign investment, the Western Region of China should optimize investment environment, and expand FDI scale;change the concept of attracting investment, and improve the perfor- mance of foreign investment;encourage Sino-foreign joint venture, and strengthen technical cooperation.

The enhancement of industrial green total factor productivity is pivotal for achieving high-quality and sustainable economic *** study assesses China’s performance using the SBM-GML model,employing province-level panel data spanning from 2004 to ***,we examine the influence of green finance and technological progress on industrial green total factor productivity using a spatial econometric *** findings uncover that the relationship between the level of green financial development and industrial green total factor productivity follows a U-shaped ***,low levels of green financial development exert a suppressive effect on industrial green total factor productivity,proving ineffective in the short ***,with the progression of green finance development,a positive and significant long-term impact on industrial green total factor productivity ***,technological progress demonstrates a noteworthy promotional effect on industrial green total factor *** analysis delves deeper into revealing that industrial structure and environmental regulation intensity exhibit a significant negative relationship with industrial green total factor *** contrast,both energy structure and education level showcase a substantial positive relationship with industrial green total factor productivity.
