The identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the Large Hadron Collider,as Standard Model measurements and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced background.This paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS experiment.Two taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet pseudorapidity.Differences in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.

Exploring technologies to better link physical evidence and digital information for disaster victim identification

Disaster victim identification(DVI)entails a protracted process of evidence collection and data matching to reconcile physical remains with victim identity.Technology is critical to DVI by enabling the linkage of physical evidence to information.However,labelling physical remains and collecting data at the scene are dominated by low-technology paper-based practices.We ask,how can technology help us tag and track the victims of disaster?Our response to this question has two parts.First,we conducted a human–computer interaction led investigation into the systematic factors impacting DVI tagging and tracking processes.Through interviews with Australian DVI practitioners,we explored how technologies to improve linkage might fit with prevailing work practices and preferences;practical and social considerations;and existing systems and processes.We focused on tagging and tracking activities throughout the DVI process.Using insights from these interviews and relevant literature,we identified four critical themes:protocols and training;stress and stressors;the plurality of information capture and management systems;and practicalities and constraints.Second,these findings were iteratively discussed by the authors,who have combined expertise across electronics,data science,cybersecurity,human–computer interaction and forensic pathology.We applied the themes identified in the first part of the investigation to critically review technologies that could support DVI practitioners by enhancing DVI processes that link physical evidence to information.This resulted in an overview of candidate technologies matched with consideration of their key attributes.This study recognises the importance of considering human factors that can affect technology adoption into existing practices.Consequently,we provide a searchable table(as Supplementary information)that relates technologies to the key considerations and attributes relevant to DVI practice,for readers to apply to their own context.While this research directly contributes to DVI,i

Sharing sensitive data is a specific challenge for research infrastructures in the field of life sciences. For that reason a toolbox has been developed, providing resources for researchers who wish to share and use sensitive data, to support the workflows for handling these kinds of digital objects. Common and community approved annotations are required to be compliant with FAIR principles(Findability, Accessibility,Interoperability, Reusability). The toolbox makes use of a tagging(categorisation) system, allowing consistent labelling and categorisation of digital objects, in terms relevant to data sharing tasks and activities. A pilot study was performed within the Horizon 2020 project EOSC-Life, in which 2 experts from 6 life sciences research infrastructures were recruited to independently assign tags to the same set of 10 to 25 resources related to sensitive data management and data sharing(in total 110). Summary statistics of agreement and observer variation per research infrastructure are provided. The pilot study has shown that experts were able to attribute tags but in most cases with a considerable observer variation between experts. In the context of CWFR(Canonical Workflow Frameworks for Research), this indicates the necessity for careful definition,evaluation and validation of parameters and processes related to workflow descriptions. The results from this pilot study were used to tackle this issue by revising the categorisation system and providing an updated version.

Tax-folks hybrid navigation:A new model for resource aggregation in social tagging system

With emergence of Web 2.0,taxonomy and folksonomy have shown a trend of complementarity and integration,and a hybrid tax-folks navigation structure has become a new way to facilitate resource aggregation in social tagging system.In this paper,the generation mechanism of tax-folks hybrid navigation model is analyzed,and the tax-folks hybrid navigation model,which consist of six modules:data preparation,concept lattice construction,concept lattice analysis,tax-folks mapping,tax-folks hybrid navigation tree and outputs& evaluation,is constructed with the theory of formal concept analysis.The study finds that tax-folks hybrid navigation model takes into account the advantages of taxonomy and folksonomy,achieves a tree-like resource aggregation,and effectively improves the resources-finding ability in social tagging system.

The Detectability for the Myocardial Fibrosis by tagging Imaging on Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance

Purpose: Myocardial fibrosis causes cardiac dysfunction, arrhythmias, and sudden death. tagging imaging on cardiovascular MR can measure the intra-myocardial motion from the dynamic deformation of lines superimposed on the myocardium. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the detectability of myocardial fibrosis using tagging imaging and to compare this with conventional cine imaging. Materials and Methods: We reviewed 4 normal control (NML) subjects, 4 patients with myocarditis (MYO), and 4 patients with old myocardial infarction (ICM). We measured circumferential strain (Ecc) from tagging imaging, and regional wall thickening (rWT) from cine imaging. Fibrosis was determined from a late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) image. We evaluate diagnostic performance by comparing values of the area under curve (AUC) using ROC analysis. Results: Mean values of Ecc and rWT decreased in the area of LGE both in MYO and ICM patients. AUC values of Ecc and rWT in all subjects were 0.98 and 0.84, respectively (p tagging imaging showed better detectability of myocardial fibrosis than did cine imaging.

Description and characterization of place properties using topic modeling on georeferenced tags

User-Generated Content(UGC)provides a potential data source which can help us to better describe and understand how places are conceptualized,and in turn better represent the places in Geographic Information Science(GIScience).In this article,we aim at aggregating the shared meanings associated with places and linking these to a conceptual model of place.Our focus is on the metadata of Flickr images,in the form of locations and tags.We use topic modeling to identify regions associated with shared meanings.We choose a grid approach and generate topics associated with one or more cells using Latent Dirichlet Allocation.We analyze the sensitivity of our results to both grid resolution and the chosen number of topics using a range of measures including corpus distance and the coherence value.Using a resolution of 500 m and with 40 topics,we are able to generate meaningful topics which characterize places in London based on 954 unique tags associated with around 300,000 images and more than 7000 individuals.

Learning natural ordering of tags in domain-specific Q&A sites

tagging is a defining characteristic of Web 2.0.It allows users of social computing systems(e.g.,question and answering(Q&A)sites)to use free terms to annotate content.However,is tagging really a free action?Existing work has shown that users can develop implicit consensus about what tags best describe the content in an online community.However,there has been no work studying the regularities in how users order tags during tagging.In this paper,we focus on the natural ordering of tags in domain-specific Q&A sites.We study tag sequences of millions of questions in four Q&A sites,i.e.,CodeProject,SegmentFault,Biostars,and CareerC up.Our results show that users of these Q&A sites can develop implicit consensus about in which order they should assign tags to questions.We study the relationships between tags that can explain the emergence of natural ordering of tags.Our study opens the path to improve existing tag recommendation and Q&A site navigation by leveraging the natural ordering of tags.
