t.e present.work was aimed t. t.e st.dy of t.e ant.fungal act.vit. of essent.al oils of t.o aromat.c plant. against.t.ree st.ains of Sclerot.nia sclerot.orum responsible for whit. rot.of bean. t.e t.o essent.al oils (EO) of t.e st.died plant.: t.ymus vulgaris (HEt. and Cymbopogon cit.at.us (HEC), used at.different.concent.at.ons: C1 (0.75 ml/ml), C2 (1.5 ml/ml) and C3 (3 ml/ml) present.d significant.inhibit.ry act.vit.es on t.e t.ree t.st.d fungal st.ains namely Bia 1, Bia 2, and Njo 2. t.o cont.ol t.eat.ent. (t.: cont.ining no ant.fungal subst.nce and t.: synt.et.c fungicide) were also used. t.e ant.fungal act.vit. here is relat.d t. t.e inhibit.on of mycelial growt. especially wit. high concent.at.ons of essent.al oils. t.us, against.S. sclerot.orum, HEt.showed t.e highest.act.vit. comparable t. t.at.of t. (100% inhibit.on) at.all concent.at.ons on t.e Bia 1 and Bia 2 st.ains and at.concent.at.on C3 on t.e Njo 2 st.ain compared t. t.at.of HEC, which cert.inly inhibit.d t.e mycelial growt. of t.e different.st.ains considerably (wit. a maximum of 78.15% on t.e Njo 2 st.ain) but.not.complet.ly. According t. t.eir sensit.vit., t.e Bia 2 st.ain showed a higher sensit.vit. t. essent.al oils t.an t.e ot.ers while t.e Njo 2 st.ain was more aggressive. On t.e basis of MIC50 and MIC90 obt.ined on t.e Njo 2 st.ain, t.e HEt.t.rns out.t. be t.e most.efficient.wit. respect.ve lower values of (1.73 and 23.34 ml/ml) against.(4.76 and 26.03 ml/ml) for t.e HEC. t.ese EO could t.us be exploit.d as biodegradable ant.fungal subst.nces, likely t. cont.ol whit. rot.of bean.
