A novel concept is proposed in the present study for improving the square-array jet impingement heat transfer by integrating a synthetic jet actuator into the array *** illustrate the potential of this concept,an experimental investigation is performed,wherein two jet Reynolds numbers(Re=3000 and 5000),three hole-to-hole pitches(X/d=Y/d=4,5 and 6),and three impinging distances(H/d=2,6 and 10)are considered while the synthetic jet is actuated at a fixed frequency of 180 Hz with a characteristic Reynolds number(Re_(0))of about *** results show that the synthetic jet has rare influence on the stagnation heat transfer of square-array jet but effectively improves the local heat transfer at the central zone of array *** potential is tightly dependent on the array layout,Reynolds number and impinging *** general,the spatially-averaged Nusselt number augment behaves more significantly for the situations with smaller jet Reynolds number and bigger impinging distance.

A primary air jet vectoring control system with a novel synthetic jet actuator （SJA） is presented and simulated numerically. The results show that, in comparison with an existing traditional synthetic jet actuator, which is able to perform the duty of either ＂push＂ or ＂pull＂, one novel synthetic jet actuator can fulfill both ＂push＂ and ＂pull＂ functions to vector the primary jet by shifting a slide block inside it. Therefore, because the new actuator possesses greater efficiency, it has potentiality to replace the existing one in various appli- cations, such as thrust vectoring and the reduction of thermal signature. Moreover, as the novel actuator can fulfill those functions that the existing one can not, it may well be expected to popularize it into more flow control systems.

The detailed numerical simulation has been carried out to investigate the effect of synthetic jet excitation on the secondary flow at 5° incidence in a compressor cascade, in which the synthetic jet actuation is equipped on the suction surface. The influence of excitation position, one fixed near the trailing edge and the other fixed a little far from the trailing edge, has also been studied. The results show that unsteady disturbance of desirable synthetic jet effectively enhances the mixing of the fluid inside the separation region, which reduces the vortex intensity and the energy loss, improves the flow status in the cascade, and also suppresses velocity fluctuation near the trailing edge. Additionally, the actuation fixed near the separation region proves to be more effective and exit load distribution is more uniform due to the employment of the synthetic jet.

This study investigates the aerodynamic performance of the NACA 633-421 airfoil and the effectiveness and feasibility of intermittent disturbance flow control methods on laminar separation bubbles(LSBs).It is found that the average velocity and influence range of the synthetic jet actuator increase with the increasing of driving frequency and driving *** occurs at Re=1.0×10^(5),and ruptures atα=6°.But with intermittent disturbance control,the stall angle of attack(AoA)increases while significantly reducing *** shows that although certain disturbance cannot fully recover from LSB stall,decreasing driving amplitude partially restores wing aerodynamic performance,more effectively than increasing driving amplitude.
